This was our first time in Surabaya and we needed a hotel in the area of our family. Grand Kalimas is situated at the location that we wanted to be. Hotel was satisfactory, although we hope to be in a better hotel next time.

Strategic location”

Great, it was a pleasant experience as I have stayed in the same hotel every time i visit Surabaya, Indonesia. It is strategically located near to the historic mosque Sunan Ampel, which is few minutes walking distance and they served good Indonesian food with their in-house restaurant.

optimal location”

the hotel itself is standard, rooms are not exceptional but quiet and reasonably priced ; what is exceptional is to be right in the middle of a beautiful district with almost no tourists

Perfect location for food till supper ”

reasonable priced. a suggestion though - good if a mini fridge is provided in each room.

Not many things to do in Surabaya”

The hotel offers friendly staffs and location near shopping centre/spot. Also location waliking distance to Pasar Ampel, Masjid Ample and private hospital. It is easy to get public transport and local foods.

Friendly staff, but not clean room.”

Friendly and helpful, but unfortunately not clean beddings (and we are not that picky). In need of a makeover - or an adjustment in price. Better options are there.

Not so good”

The hotel is not so good. It has no good maintenance. The lights make the room a bit gloomy. The toilet not so clean. The service also so poor. The room is a bit small, I can even touch the roof cealing. The price is really fit with what service you will get. If you are looking for some hotel that clean and comfort, I can guarantee you will find it in this place.

Old school hotel at the Arab Street”

We stayed here for 1 night. Situated at the Arab Street, near the Ampel Mosque. At this street, is nothing. Only many food stalls along the street at night and in the morning, they were selling second hand items. I love the lobby balcony, where you can drink and observe people from above. The street quiet busy at night. WIFI is not working. I don't know why. The staffs was very friendly. They helped me to buy the train tickets. The stuffs in the room looks old. The AC is cold. They had bathtub in the bathroom. The hot shower had its schedule. The breakfast is basic, fried rice, fried egg, crackers, bread & jam, & juice & hot drinks. Overall is OK. If you like to eat stalls food.

Average hotel.”

there r 2 things tt they must improve. 1.should provide an electric keettle in every room..i hv to pay for RP 5000 for a jug of hot water. 2.the cleaniness of the bathroom shold be improve.

Budget Hotel with good locations”

We checked in at room 501 condition very average, there was not so goor odour came either from the wash basin or toilet. The air con was terribly not so cool & lighting not that bright either. The room seriously NEED upgrading. Breakfast was average with basic toast bread, fried rice & noodle, 1 meat dish, vege & crackers. Additional 1 pax for breakfast is IDR 30.000

Basic hotel ”

No hot water flask in room, no iron , they forget to give me a wake up call, staffs have no sense of urgency, coffee was not ready during breakfast, so we ask for hot water but it was charged . Not recommended for ladies, kids & family.

unpleasant hotel experience”

It was a quite unpleasant as the room was not ready , shower broke down and water is all over the bathroom floor. Also they only provide bath towel, no face towel and very minimal toileteries. The staff were friendly. The food was cold, not kept warm. I will not stay here again.

Disappointing stay.”

The reason I chose this hotel is because my cousin lives in the Ampel area. The food was awful, the wi-fi's hopeless and there was only one or two guys from the staff that was friendly and helpful even though I speak the language. So, if you don't speak Indonesian and don't need to be in that area, please avoid this hotel.

Language Issue”

They barely speak English. Many places and people there cannot even speak basic English.

A dissapointing stay.”

I only chose this hotel because of the location. Food is bad, wifi almost hopeless and the service was very poor except for a couple of guys there.
