Pleasant stay at the Wiang Inn Hotel”

We regularly go to Chiang Rai for the visa run at Mae Sai. This was the first time we stayed at the Wiang Inn Hotel, we usually stay at Doi Tung. When you arrive in Chiang Rai there are no roadsigns for the hotel. We speak thai so we were able to ask our way. It isn't difficult to find, it's in the middle of town. Plenty of parking space at the hotel which is nice. We came on the 30th of December, as far as we could see there were a lot of guests, but in spite of the mistake we made with our reservation reception found us a nice room. Very helpful and friendly staff, but almost all thais are like that! We had a good thai dinner at their restaurant, real thai food, not europeanized, reasonable prices. Breakfast buffet was ok, nothing special, the eggs were cold. Certainly a hotel to be recommended, we are spoiled people and used to staying in five-star hotels but we feel the price and service here are unbeatable. Good location for tourists, in the middle of the night bazar.

A visit to Chiang Rai - Stay at the Wiang Inn Hote”

If you are staying in Chiang Rai then I do recommend the Wiang Inn Hotel. It is situated very close to great amenities. Only a short walk to the Night Market and also very close to a very wide variety of restaurants and pubs/bars. We pretty much had the pool all to ourselves which my children loved. The rooms were clean and comfortable but not overly roomy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I do think that they should consider including free internet access for visitors with laptops. They charged 100 baht for four hours of internet which isn't horrible but for the price of the room they could certainly afford to include it. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to friends that are going to Chiang Rai.

Wiang Inn”

If you like smaller Thai cities with lots of attractions and amenities close by then Chiang Rai should be on your list of destinations - and the Wiang Inn should definitely be one hotel to consider staying at while there. Perhaps a little expensive by some standards but for what you get for your money it seems worth it. My Thai wife and I found it to be a good deal from Agoda. The hotel is clean and quiet. The staff seems helpful but I don't think many could speak much English. Rooms are clean with everything the traveler requires. The room service meals were surprisingly good so we can only assume the restaurant is a good one. They do serve a good breakfast buffet. The location was good for us with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel does have good shuttle van service to the airport for 150 bht so be sure to use it rather than pay 400 bht for a taxi ride which the hotel also arranges. I booked the taxi to take us to the airport without realizing there was an airport shuttle van and when my wife brought this to their attention at the front desk they quickly gave me my taxi money back. I wasn't impressed they didn't mention the shuttle in the first place but was happy they didn't make a fuss over returning my taxi money.

Best value hotel in Chiang Rai”

I stay at the Wiang Inn Hotel whenever I visit Chiang Rai. It is very good value for money especially in the low season. The bedrooms are clean and well equipped, making it a pleasure to stay for extended periods. The hotel is centrally located in the city centre with plenty of car parking. The breakfast is excellent covering all tastes. There are a few downsides, such as no security safes in bedrooms, also “free” Wi-fi is only available in the lobby area, so need to pay 100 Baht if Wi-Fi needed in bedrooms.

Exceeded my expectations”

I had read many reviews and had some concerns because of negative reviews. I don't know what some of those reviews were talking about. The only negative I might agree with is the bathroom is small and the toilet is low. However I am 67 with bad knees and had no problems with the toilet. The tub and shower were great and the hot water plentiful. The hotel is spotless as are the rooms. We stayed three nights and loved the included breakfast buffet. Large assortment of both Thai and western style food. Not planning to visit Chiang Rai again but if we ever do we will happily stay at the Wiang Inn.

A very enjoyable stay ”

We were really pleased with the Wiang Inn Hotel, it is in an excellent location right on the main Street, but not in a noisy area. Easy walking distance to Bus Terminal 1, the night market, shops and restaurants. The room was lovely, very clean and we were looked after very well, the only problem was that there were no drawers and only one very high shelf, so storage was awkward. Breakfast was outstanding, except for the toaster which was so slow. While you are in Chiang Rai check out the Cup n'Cat cafe, it is cat lover's heaven.

Great Location, close to Night Market”

I try to stay at Wiang Inn Hotel EVERY time I visit Chiang Rai. It is only a short walking distance from the Night Bizarre as well as weekend market. It is also located at the end of the main street in town. You have Central Plaza within walking distance to the left and a bunch of Thai and Foreign Restaurants lining the street to the right. So the Location is the best thing about the Hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. There is nothing special about the rooms...they're not the biggest. The beds, however, are softer than most hotel beds in Asia. There is a pool. It's small, but it's a pool. Internet in the rooms costs extra, it's not very fast (from my experience). The internet in the lobby is free, and I think it's better.

Looks like a 70s/80s hotel upgraded!”

I have been to Chiang Rai several times in the last 2 over years. Would walk by Wiang Inn Hotel along the main road but did not venture in. This time I decided to book 2 nights at the hotel. Based on the reviews and tips gathered, I asked for the 5th floor which was the highest. Upon arrival, the hotel lobby indeed looked very cosy with many sofas and even someone playing at the piano in the evening. The room on my floor has seen some renovation in recent years. Room was very clean, but the aircon took a long while to cool the room. Room size was alright, but noticed the chairs in the room were old and tired. Indeed this hotel has once upon a time seen its glory days from the late 70s and 80s. The bathroom on the other hand was quite small, so if you're a big person, it might be a squeeze. The hotel bed was hard, not to my liking. Shower was great, but one thing I did not like was the placement of the toilet paper holder -- it made it very hard to reach for the paper if you need it while seated on the toilet bowl. The hotel stay also came with buffet breakfast which was quite alright; a mixture of western and thai dishes with rice. I like the quiet ambience of the breakfast area, maybe it is low season. The hotel staff were quite friendly, unlike what some other reviews here mentioned. Location of the hotel was the best as it is only a 2 min walk away from the night bazaar. Great for family and older folks who want some comfort and convenience at the same time. Overall Wiang Inn Hotel cannot be considered as a 4-star hotel. I would give it 3.5 stars at best.

Wiang Inn Hotel of Chiang Rai”

Wiang Inn Hotel of Chiang Rai is located in the city center; about a 5 minute walk to the night bazaar and 7 minutes from the clock tower. This is an old hotel that has been renovated nicely! Breakfast has a nice fresh assortment of food for everyone's tastes.

A conducive hotel for a good rest”

We had already stayed in Wiang Inn for 5 nights Nov 14 to 18. Then we left for Chiang Mai by car and came back on Nov 20. We checked in and rested for the rest of the day. Since we had already returned the rental car Wiang Inn being centrally located we could go anywhere on foot. The hotel environment is so conducive to a good rest after a hectic trip to Chiang Mai. Next morning checking out was so easy and in no time we were at the airport Mae Fa Luong to fly back to Singapore. Truly an enjoyable holiday and many thanks to Agoda. We hope more and more people will avail themselves of the excellent services provided by Agoda.

It's the 2nd time we've (5 of us) stayed at the Wiang Inn/Chiang Rai (the 1st time was with my son, his wife and their 4 children). Ideally located (3 minutes walk from the night market (but nonetheless a quiet place), surrounded by restaurants (Thai and international), bars, massage shops, etc. Spacious and well equipped rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Go there, you won't be disappointed ... enjoy your stay.

I was staying at another hotel which was lovely but a bit far out so I went to look at the Wiang Inn. The staff were willing to show me the rooms before making a decision. The hotel is smack in the middle of town, making it an ideal location. I would certainly stay at this hotel again if I were to be in Chiang Rai

good location”

I stayed at wiang inn for three nights. The staff there were so friendly, even the cleaning ladies passing by smiled at me all the time. The location is good, around the busy area and the night market, which make it easy to dine. Breakfast was also good. I definitely choose wiang inn as next time I go to Chiang rai.

Wiang Inn ”

We have gone to Chiang Rai many times but this is the first time we have stayed at the Wiang Inn. We will definitely go back there next time we visit. We actually planned to stay at another hotel with a similar name but this mistake was a good one! Good amenities in the rooms too. Breakfast buffet was also excellent.

Excellent location”

The Wiang Inn Hotel is one of the best choices to stay in Chiang Rai: it is centrally located, close to restaurants and the Night Bazaar. The de luxe room was large and acceptable, but the bathroom is definitely below par -- more like a 2- or 3-star hotel. This hotel needs renovations! The breakfast was very good, with a wide assortment of dishes.

Very nice but somewhat dated”

Wiang Inn is a attractive option in Chiang Rai for a reasonable price. The location and amenities are great, and service and cleanliness were impeccable. Both the hotel in general and our room were comfortable and nice. However, the facilities are a bit dated. Nothing major, but the bathroom and room showed their age. Regardless, this in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the hotel. A slight annoyance is that the hotel tries to nickel and dime you for "the extras". Wifi, breakfast, and airport shuttle aren't free, but I realize that to many travelers these concerns aren't as important.

A most enjoyable stay at the Wiang Inn”

We are an older couple and stayed at the Wiang Inn for 3 nights in July. There is very little we could find to fault this hotel. It was set back from the street and the room was so quiet. The foyer, bar area and dining room was a sight to behold, our room was clean and nicely maintained - although the bathroom was a little dated it was always clean. We found the staff to be more than helpful and the shuttle to the airport was a bonus - we had to pay for it - but after having to negotiate fares for 3 weeks we were more than happy to pay a set fee. We did not have to pay for Wi Fi the desk staff gave us the password on check in - there was a router right outside our room - maybe that helped because we never had any issues at all with speed and were able to use our computer in our room any time. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning and never tired of it because we felt there was plenty to chose from. Proximity to all the important things was great: sightseeing, the bus station (just around the corner), the night and walking street markets, the river, restaurants and shops (7 Eleven included). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and actually rated it as the best hotel of the 5 we had stayed in during our time in Thailand. We would glady recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Beautiful Hotel , Friendly and helpful Staff”

Wiang Inn Hotel is a Very nice hotel centrally located in Chiang Rai . Great Breakfast , Nice swimming pool .The staff were all excellent .I really enjoyed my stay there. It was only 2 blocks walk to the Night Bazaar and entertainment .

Friendly service in an unbeatable location”

The excellent price for two rooms that Agoda offered suggested that the Wiang Inn would be a budget-hotel. It most certainly isn't and this is clear as soon as you go into an imposing reception area and lounge. The rooms are not large but they have all the amenities you would expect in a far more expensive hotel. The same is true of the bathrooms, where the water-pressure in the showers- often a problem in Thailand- is excellent. The breakfast buffet is huge and features both Asian and European options. Everyone was welcoming, everyone friendly. A minor issue in my room was sorted out within three minutes of it being reported. I cannot imagine better value for money.
