It was a wonderful place”

Wassup hostel is seriously one of the best hotels in Penang. The staff was quiet friendly and we also had a great time. The room was clean and although we wanted to use the stuff for washroom they did provided it on time. The best part was that they had a pool and it was neat and clean although there were children swimming in it but still it was clean. The gamming/playing area was also wonderful it was also amazing. I could have easily talked to my family there. The best thing was that they had a bus station behind the hotel and they also had the mall and all the other facilities near as well and we could easily go there and have fun and also do our shopping. The security was also amazing we had left our room keys out of the room in night and nothing happend. One of the best place in Penang is wassup youth Hostel. One must go there if visit to penang

Comfortable and located in a very good position.”

I had a great time in Wassup Youth during my vocation. The room was perfect and I think it was worth to spend money for this room. Staffs are very nice and helpful. This hostel located near the Komtar, so it was very convenient. Also the room was clean, totally clean. A little annoying thing in this hostel was Chinese people, they talked so loud and the walls couldn't cover noisy from outside. But in overall I was really satisfied with this hostel.

Very good place to stay”

Wassup hostel is easily the best hostel there is. Everywhere is clean and the rooms feel and look new. The beddings were hotel standard. Locker with a key is provided by the hostel in each room. Towels are provided too. Lots of facilities. Toilets are great with heaters. Toilets were ensuite to each room of 4 people so it is more than sufficient for everyone. Will definitely stay there again when I'm in Penang.

The best hostel”

Wassup Youth Hostel is different from other hostel because they got private bathroom in each dorm/room. This made my stay easier. Location very strategic (behind Komtar). 200m walking distance. The room very clean & tidy. Towel provided. The games & sport area is comfy making me feels good to play with my friends. The were also a vending machine & bicycle rental provided. Ask the staff for any help since they are very kind o the guests. Worth every penny!

Review for Wassup Youth Hostel”

Spend 4D3N at Wassup Youth Hostel, the hostel is clean and the set up is unique. The room is spacious and clean, just that the music (from pubs?) throughout the midnight till morning ruin abit of our sleep .(Hope the hostel can do something to block of the music, otherwise the hostel is really perfect). The staffs was friendly, resourceful,approachable and they are able to advise accordingly to our enquiries. The hostel was located near to various shopping malls, bus interchange etc. Overall, we are quite satisfied with our stay there.

Just can say that, it really suitable for youth!!! nice hotel!!! if i will go penang again, wassup youth hostel will be my choice!!!

The hostel you should choose when in penang ”

This is our second time in wassup hostel. Really satisfied with the price. A large room with 1 queen + 1 king bed, The toilet was clean and no problem with the water, Easy to get parking at the back of hostel , and helpful staff when I request lower floor ;) of course will repeat there again !

My stay @ Wassup Youth Hostel”

I stayed at Wassup Youth Hostel for 4nights. I must say that this is one of the best hostel I have stayed so far. Upon checking in, you will be given an access card with WIFI password, room key and safe key. In order to enter the main area, you will need to tap your card and in the night, the front door also require you to tap in with your access card. So it is really safe. You will remove your shoes at the main area and leave your shoes on the shoe rack before going up to your room. Please note that there is no elevator. The colourful staircase brings you to the second floor and third floor where the rooms are. When I entered my room, they have already turn on the air-con and ceiling fan so the room was cool. The room is spacious and most importantly there is a refrigerator for me to put my soft drinks :). There is an iron and ironing board and hair dryer for use. There is a hanging area for you to hang your clothes. The room is okaybut I suggest that they vacuum the floor regularly as I found long hair on the carpet floor. The bathroom is clean but the water pressure is too low. The staff at the reception area are very friendly and warm. The uncle who does the cleaning will also greet you. If you need housekeeping service, please request for the counter before going out. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to stay near Komtar. There are many shops, eateries nearby and bus station is within walking distance.

Nice stay in Penang”

We stayed at Wassup for 3 nights, it is a nice cozy place that has everything needed for a week-end city trip. The hostel is conveniently located withing walking distance to Armenian Street zone and the Pranging Mall. Hostel is clean and offers more than basic facilities: private bathroom, wifi, cable tv, complementary tea service, in-room fridge and safe, air-con. Also has 2 available computers connected to the internet and nice shared area with games. It's good value for the money keeping in mind is still a hostel.

Good location, clean and good hostel”

Very good location. A few walks from Komtar terminal which most of all the rapid bus stop there. Hostel located at the main penang road. Very convenient for backpackers to get around the city. Less halal food around the hostel which make me travelling to another street for breakfast. Very clean hostel which provide basic needs. They even got small swimming pools. I like their environment and they even got free PC to use with internet. The female dorm is clean and got toilet in the dorm for 4 people. I feel like we're rent a room not a dorm. You can get iron and towels from reception. Very convenient for us hijab girls. The only bad review from me is the receptionist is not that friendly. But the accommodation is very good and recommended for those who got tight budget.

Great place for exploring Georgetown”

We had two Superior Double rooms, side-by-side. They were sound-proofed and we could only hear very soft sounds from the road outside. There was one night when there was a bass-heavy party going on somewhere and a little bass got in but it was only because the rooms were quiet when it happened. The air-conditioner and water heater both worked extremely well. The TV had 2 USB ports (very useful). Issues: The doors were not sound-proof so sounds from the inside of the hostel were quite audible. Good thing for us that the other guests were generally quiet. One of the rooms had a musty smell. We suspect that the lack of ventilation in the bathroom was at least partly to blame. The layout of the bathroom was also a little strange. It seemed, perhaps, a little too space-saving. Without removing the shower head from its holder, you could shower while seated on the toilet. That said, Wassup is a GREAT place if you want to explore Georgetown. It is right next to a bus terminal and very centralised. There are also 3 huge shopping malls just 5 minutes away as well as a convenience store right downstairs. Food is in abundance in the immediate vicinity and you will definitely not go hungry here.

Comfortable backpackers stay.”

We booked the one with balcony room and we're fully satisfied. It’s spacious, with safety box deposit, fan + aircond, rest chair, dressing table and chair, complete with hair dryer and surprisingly, the room comes with an iron and iron board as well. Bed and pillows are also comfortable. Hotel enough? Yes yes. Despite the room/hostel being on the side of the road (which can be very noisy), we still have a good sleep! This hostel is located at the center of Georgetown town so it’s very convenient for you to go places. If you’re driving, you may park your car at RM10/per day at the car park just behind the hostel. There’s hostel door access from behind too, do ask the hostel staffs. They’re friendly. Oh and yea they do have vending machine with can drinks at RM1 ONLY.

Stratetic location and super comfy bed”

Strategically located on the heart of georgetown area with walking distance to literally anywhere to famous and delciious culinary hawker complex, this hostel is really a steal for that price point. Bed is comfortable, ac is cold, the lobby and lounge is comfortable and equipped with sofa and even computer. Smoking room outside is really nice with swimming pool view and the toilet works very well! The only minus thing about the hostel is the amount of cash for deposit which i think pretty high, around 50 rm. Thats quite a number of bucks but i think its still pretty high for several traveler. Other than that, everything was amazing 👍

Central and Nice Location”

Me and my husband stayed 1 night and another 2 nights because the hotel was full booked in between. We booked for Superior double room but on the 1st night they upgraded us to Deluxe Double Room with Balcony. First night is quite disappointed because we got a room with malfunction of the toilet hole but still acceptable. The deluxe room quite big and clean with ceiling fan attached, small balcony, King sized bed, small fridge, iron and iron board, hairdryer,free wifi and have a dressing table some more. So far i can say i love to stay in here, the location so central and near to Komtar. Then the 2nd and 3rd day we got our Superior double room, Mostly the appliances are the same only no balcony, ceiling fan and queen sized bed. the room a bit smaller but still clean. There is a table but no mirror attached in the room so for lady who want to do make up need to go to the toilet to get the mirror. I find this very pleasant stay & comfortable. After we check out at 12pm, we also can left ours luggages at the counter for hours without charge.The staff also friendly and helpful. For sure if i come back to Penang i will book this hotel again. This Hotel become my favourite hotel in Penang.

Best location and nice place for youth”

Location located at centre georgetown and near to bus hub. Also hostel have swimming pool and some entertainment like game to play. stayed here for more than 5 times, this is my 1st choices for youth and solo traveler

Very satisfied! ”

Hostel very easy to find & very convenient because it is located nearby (walking distance 5min) the Komtar station where we can take any buses to go anywhere. Also nearby to the famous teochew penang food :) also provide bicycle rental RM10 per day very very convenient as we dont have to find other bicycle rental shop. The design of the hostel also quite creative & comfy. Recommend for a group of friends as there are some entertaiment facilites provided! :D price is very affordable too. Overall, very satisfied!!

Fantastic Hostel”

The location was superb, just off Jalan Penang and right next to Komtar bus station, getting around the island was a breeze via public transport. There was food available nearby. The staff were very polite and informative. The room was very clean and comfortable, toilet was a little small but the space was well used, only thing was that due to the small space, when taking a shower, everything else will be wet, including the toilet bowl and paper. It was a great stay overall, surpassed my expectations. Will definitely return when I visit Georgetown again.

Very good location & clean”

Travel to the Penang island with ferry. All buses departing from ferry's bus terminal do pass by KOMTAR, and the Hostel is right next to KOMTAR. It is within walking distance to the famous restaurants and shopping places. There are desktops in the hostel, which are helpful in searching information about places of attraction and map info. The TV & sofa & football table are excellent for group to hang out. Except for one thing, the bunk bed in dormitory squeaks, so that could be further improved. Bed and pillow are comfortable to sleep. And the washroom and shower facilities are good.

Love the room, the service and the atmosphere”

It was a great stay! Stayed in a Superior Double room and it was spacious for a hostel! The room has a nice design, clean and has all basic necessities, including a fridge. The staff was friendly, wifi was amazing and the place was peaceful. Can see people enjoying themselves in the lounge area. Even heard people playing pool as well (sound was soft). Some reviewers mentioned that the noise generated by the karaoke pub next door is not good for sleep. If you are a heavy sleeper, it should be ok, otherwise just bring ear plugs. Overall, I will recommend this hostel to everyone, especially due to the cleanliness of the hostel. Check-out was less than 3 minutes!
