GOOD OLD-FASHIONED SERVICE”

Wangtai is an older style hotel, but everything is well maintained; the rooms are quite spacious, very comfy bed, powerful shower with plenty of hot water and efficient, quiet air conditioning, nicely positioned so it doesn't blow on your face all night long. Service in the restaurant and coffee shop was great, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Perfect for the purpose”

We stayed one night at the Wangtai on the recommendation of the proprietors of Jungleyoga.com. It was perfect for the purpose - a one night layover between returning from Koh Phangan and departing for the Khao Sok National Park. The front desk staff were cordial if not overtly friendly. The room exceeded our expectations. We had not asked for anything in particular but were given a large room with a sitting area that made the room quite comfortable. The restaurant staff was a bit more open and engaging, proud to display their English-speaking skills and quite encouraging of our feable attempts to speak Thai. The breakfast included in the cost of the room comprised an extensive buffet with many delicious options ranging from traditional Thai delights to traditional American eggs and sausage. The small sundry store was a bit disappointing, but we were not there to shop so it did not detract from our experience.

Great location and clean”

Enjoyed our stay at Wangtai Hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Service was great, staff was able to answer all question and speak English quite well.

Old hotel but great service and wonderful massages”

This hotel has a beautiful lobby and are baggage was quickly attended to by porters once we exited ghe cab. The front desk expected us and had our reservation ready to go (the first time this has happened in 4 weeks if travelling). Check in was smooth though we had to pay extra for my breakfast since our occupancy was booked for only 1,not 2 on their system. The rooms are dated but clean and I always got a great sleep. There were no bugs in our room but a few large, slow mosquitoes in the lobby. I really enjoyed my Thai food in the restaurant and ate there many times. The service was great consistently for my husband and I. Breakfast is good too with a mix of thai and western foods, so you should be able to find something you will enjoy. The pool is sizable and refreshing. Massages were outstanding, we had 4 between my husband and I, all around 300 baht. They go very hard so you may be quite sore the next day, keep that in mind if you're flying. Our laundry service was efficient and undergarments were folded in packaged together in cellophane bags, while our larger items were all ironed, hung, and placed in our room wardrobes later that afternoon. Prices are per piece, not weight, and laundry staff did not speak English but were friendly and helpful nonetheless. Much of the staff speaks very little English but we had no problems getting our needs met. This hotel also has a large number of thai guests who are travelling as well. Take a tuk tuk for 15-20 baht per person to the night market if you'd like some street food. The area has other restaurants and western food in the area too. Overall, it's convenient having the pool, massage, and restaurant all under one roof. Great value for the money.

Very good location but very old hotel”

We arrived on a 1 night stop over before flying back to Bangkok. The hotel is very old and in need of updating, the rooms are quite big but in need of re decorating, but they are cheap. The food in the hotel is very good, there is a bakery in reception and the food and coffee is great. The hotel also has a few shops on the ground floor which is good, the best thing about this hotel is the location, it is in the city center but only half an hour from the airport.

staff were lovely”

i booked this hotel after a last minute flight change, in my haste i only booked for one person, when we got there they said it wasn't a problem i paid an extra $ aud and it was sorted. we only spent one night but the room was large and clean (it even had a lounge suite) the bathroom was spotless and breakfast was fine asian and western choices. the front desk even arranged our bus/ ferry transfer to koh samui, which after 31 hours of traveling we were very grateful for. i really cannot comment on the location as we arrived at night and left early the next morning, all i will say is it seemed to be close to the city.

Great stop over hotel straight out of the 70's!”

Clean rooms, restaurant food cheap and good, hotel has not had anything changed since the 70's a very random experience. Nothing else around hotel but ideal for a stop over. Air Asia run a shuttle bus for 100b to the airport which you can book the day before. Came from ko Tao with boat and bus transfer we got dropped in Surat Thani city and then had to get a tuk tuk to hotel at 50thb each. Only issue was we booked for 2 people and when wee arrived they said we had only paid for one and had to pay an extra 120thb had this problem with agoda before too.

An Overnight Stay At Suratthani By The Riverside”

We arrived at Wangtai hotel at 6 pm from Koh Samui by a tutut transfer. We walked for about 2 km by the riverside walk and had a simple street dinner. A little far to walk though it was quite ok in the evening. The sunset river view was good. I would rather stay closer to downtown next time I visit Suratthani.

Classic Hotel for Suratthani”

Wangtai Hotel is a classic hotel in Surat-Thani. It a little bit old but it is still clean and comfortable.

Staff very helpful and friendly”

Good food and reasonable price in hotels restaurant. Staff very attentive. Great massage available at very good prices. Wifi in rooms for 24 hours cost 100 Baht. Free wifi in lobby area where there is a coffee shop. Lovely big pool and nice area outside. There was no one else around when I was there.

Big hotel with good facility ”

Famous hotel in city, with river view, hotel is clean, even open since 30 yrs ago, but all facility still be good. Hot water , air con, TV, swimming pool. Located in city center, BF is good taste, but no warm.

We will use Wangtai Hotel again,when we are in Surathani.We also liked the rich breakfast with a lot of different choices of food.

The room was large but tired and dated”

Wangtai Hotel is geared towards conferences and weddings. We stayed for 3 nights and there were 3 weddings and a conference. The rooms are very tired and old fashioned but good value for the money we paid. The staff didn't speak English so we're no help at all answering questions. The pool was great and we had it to ourselves. Surat Thani is not a tourist town at all, in fact we only saw 2 or 3 other tourists in 3 days. There are no bars or restaurants to speak of so we ate in the hotel which was ok. The Sunday market was fun to see but otherwise there's not a lot to do.

OK for one night”

The Wangtai is an OK stop over hotel for one night. According to information the hotel rooms have all been renovated but if they have they must have used the same pattern carpet and the same colour wall paper :-) The hotel is OK for the price but is becoming a bit drab and tired. Breakfast is a good combination of Thai and European. I would use the Wangtai again.

Lovely hotel & service with a smile”

If I come back to Suratthani again, I will consider to stay here again. I will recommend to my friends/colleagues too if they visit Koh Samui via Suratthani in future. I enjoyed staying in your hotel. Thanks Wangtai Hotel.

A perfect value-for-money deal!”

Although the hotel must be 30 years old or more, all the necessary things function. The room had been renovated and featured enough space, new mattress and large windows. The in-house restaurant featured the usual run-of-the-gun breakfast buffet with all the food gotten fried/cooked hours before guests would have breakfast. We asked for freshly cooked items (fried eggs, ham etc.) which were provided for with pleasure. They featured a coffee machine with fresh coffee; the grinding disks should be changed as the coffee was bitter but fresh. All in all recommended and - for us - a good pitstop on our car trip between Samui and Pattaya.

Great location”

Checked in while driving by to see if there is room available, nice staff , the price was the same as agoda, so I choose to book it through agoda. The room was spacious, clean over looking the events field, at the time, bike week was in progress, bikers from all over was there, location was perfect, the breakfast was good. I would recommend definetely this hotel if asked!!!

Alright for Suratthani ”

The Wangtai hotel is most likely among the best hotel that you will stay in when visiting Suratthani city. The hotel has no convenience stores within walking distance, however the restaurant at the hotel was decent (The pizza was really good). One of the main cons was that we requested a double bed, however we were given twin beds (which couldn't be moved) even though booking more than a month in advance. There was also no hot water at all in the shower.

marvelous room with reasonable price”

I rode motorcycle here, not easy to cross the road because of traffic. Not many restaurants can find nearby. The building and the room is like 5-stars hotel. My room is facing the swimming pool, so it’s a bit noisy. Breakfast is abundant and cheap. My relative passed away the day I checked in, so I could not continue staying ,I called the hotel booking site and they refunded me one night, which I am deeply appreciated, next time I come, I will choose the hotel again.

Large, spacious hotel, clean, friendly, large rooms, car park and pool. We stayed only one night, a Sunday night, not much to do in Suratthani on a Sunday. We took a walk along the river and went to the Sunday market, both nearby.
