Modern & convenient side of old world charm Penang”

Reception was pleasant with the check-in process smooth & the receptionists being friendly. (A nice Indian lady served me alongside a tall Indian guy). There was a lime juice (I think) welcome drink which was refreshing after a long taxi ride from Bayan Lepas Airport. The design of the hotel was Artsy, contemporary, very urban which was nice for a change from the old world charm of Penang. I checked into a double bed deluxe room on the 2F which had the necessary facilities such as mini fridge, mini safe, TV..etc. with windows which overlooked the 1F swimming pool.The interior features bright & bold colours such as yellow against grey on its furniture, painting on wall, even on its rug. There were even a couple of welcome candy lollipops for me. The washroom had everything & I liked the way the handwash, shampoo & showergel were presented in practical transparent plastic bottles, as their colours showed through. Lending the 'GLOW' & colour-theme of the hotel. The hotel's location is excellent at MacCallister Rd where the authentic scenes (& eats) of Penang hawkerfare foodcourts are just right outside. 7Elevens are everywhere, & you just have to keep walking left or right out of the hotel & you'd stumble into a tourist site. I found the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall & Penang State Museum just on the right turn outside the hotel, walking straight a further 5mins. There are also authentic confectionary stores selling Penang's famous Tambun Peah, Hiong Peah...etc just outside. I managed a 10min walk to Penang Times Sq as well. You can also make a short walk to the main Georgetown Heritage Walk provided you know the turns. Catching a taxi will also get you to Gurney Drive & Batu Feringghi which is like just 15-20mins from Glow. I'm generally satisfied with my stay at Glow & will definitely recommend it to family & friends as well! Thank you Glow! Lovely service!

Centrally Located, Clean, Safe, Friendly Efficient Staff, Value For Money”

Glow is very centrally located, very convenient as there are many coffee shops, restaurants and hawker stall opposite and a few minutes walk. Its also not far from a few shopping Malls like Komtar, Prangin Mall, Times Square and the old town of Penang is not far away. On top of this all their staff are very friendly, helpful and quick respond to all our every requests and enquiries. The hotel lobby, coffee house, elevator, rooms are all very clean, well kept and tastefully designed. Couldn't comment of the pool and gym as we didn't manage to check it out. But for a town centre hotel at this price with a pool, pool bar, gym, cafe and rooms with a safe deposit box, mini fridge, flat tv, hairdryer, rain shower with powerful water pressure, cool/silent air-con, comfortable bed , 4 pillows, fluffy bath towels, room slippers, coffee & tea, 2 bottles drinking water, laundry service...what more can anyone ask for at such great rates. Only thing that could be improve is the parking which is very lacking, only able to accommodate the most 20 cars. But not to worry as there are many roads with parking lot along the roads nearby this hotel. From 9pm - 9am it is free, do not need to put any parking coupons. Any other time, coupons need to be purchased and displayed according to your period of parking time. This coupons can be purchase at Happy Mart 24 hours store located just opposite this hotel, very convenient and economical. Having said all this, we would still choose to stay at this hotel the next time we visit Penang. Glow Hotel is definately value for money. Good hotel with great staffs...keep it up Glow

Just for the weekend”

Booking was a breeze with Agoda, they have connected me with the hotel via email regarding my request for airport transfer. Glow was very responsive. I was quoted MYR45 each way and was assured that the driver will be waiting outside the airport on the day of our arrival with Penang. The flight to Penang was delayed and the driver was waiting for us outside the arrival hall and quickly ushered us to the van. He was very polite and handed over 2 bottled water for me and my mom. He said that it was from the hotel. It was a plus point since I was thirsty during that time. When we reached the hotel, the driver said that he can give me discount and only need to pay MYR80 for 2-way airport transfer since he will be the one to also bring us to the airport. So I paid. Also offered if we will be interested for a tour, unfortunately we have already booked a tour with viator. No issues with check in. It was quick and easy. We were surprised how spacious the room is, even the bathroom is spacious. Bed and pillow are comfortable. Room design is pretty modern. Again no issues with the room. Breakfast was ok, spread was limited. The exact spread the following day. Coffee shops in vicinity were still closed at 7am so we were forced back to return to hotel to eat breakfast. Price is MYR26.50 per person. The only thing which ticked my off was when I called the operator (front desk) to ask for bath towels and bottled water. By the way they do not have housekeeping line so the call gets routed to the operator. I understand that it tends to get busy at the front desk but I think the staff should learn how to properly respond to calls like mine when they are unable to attend to my request. The staff said "Let me call you back because I am busy" (with an irritating tone). Few mins later, the recep called again and apologized as she was busy earlier and asked again what was it that I need. Overall I am satisfied with the service and would recommend Glow for you to try.

perfect for price”

When we were looking for a hotel in Georgetown we wanted to make sure the location was good, the wifi worked and the staff were friendly and that's exactly what we got at Glow Penang. The staff helped with many touring questions we had, the wifi worked in the room, the location was about a 15 minute walk which isn't too far but is a bit of a stroll in the heat. For the price and room size and cleanliness is spot on!

for traveller who visiting Penang for food tour, i would strongly suggest this hotel. it is value for money and the location is very strategic. you can reach anywhere within penang georgetown within 5-10 mins drive. along the macalister road, there are plenty of good food to explore. the hotel room is spacious and clean too.

I stay for 2night alone in big family room. And just pay Rm34^^ super cheap price ^^ Thanks agoda giving the best deal. This hotel interior design is modern . Swimming pool and cafe on the second floor of the hotel。 Room facilities are completed and clean. Free bottled mineral water。 Free buffet breakfast is nice . Wifi network signal is ok。 Free bus CAT7 in front of the hotel to komtar。 Lots of food and 24-hour convenience stores around the hotel。 I recommend all friends who come to Penang to experience this hotel.

3 star hotel worthy of 4 stars”

GLOW Penang was really a surprise as when we booked the hotel, we knew it was 3 stars and thus managed our expectations accordingly. But honestly, GLOW should be rated 4 in terms of service, cleanliness and rooms. Their buffet breakfast was really good for a 3 star hotel. There were pastries, savouries (like rice or noodles) and cereals. Their scrambled eggs are awesome and keeps running out fast, so be sure to get yourself a generous scoop! They also had a pool and a pool bar, which my friend and I frequented for the ambience. Their in-room service was also efficient. When we checked in, there were no towels so we made a call to reception. We went out of our room after that. When we returned, we wanted to put a call to reception to remind them about the towels, but to our pleasant surprise the towels were already there. Impressive! One thing which I feel they could improve was to have 24-hour in-room dining. Yes there are a lot of eateries outside the hotel, and they have a restaurant from 9am to 5pm, but it'll be nice to have the option of munching something at night in the comfort of our room. But that's a small matter. I will definitely come back to GLOW on my next trip to Penang!

Strategic location, worth staying boutique hotel”

Booked GLOW Penang last minute on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and as expected I paid rm210 for one single room for one night through Agoda. Obviously it is pricey in my opinion but booking last minute on a peak season is unavoidable with it's high price as compared to other similar choices of 3 stars in Georgetown and I think it worth every penny after stepping in to my single bed room that I booked. It is spacious, clean, simple and just what I am comfortable with if I were to travel alone next time. Hotel located in a strategic location but parking spaces are really limited, there are no toothbrush and toothpaste provided(this is saddening). However the staffs explained things that I need to know in details and they're efficient. Housekeeping staff is really cheerful and I respect that. Never try their breakfast hence I couldn't comment much. Definitely will return again.

Great hotel”

We enjoyed our stay in Hotelodge - the facilities were lovely and you could not beat it for the price we paid for our stay. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to all of the attractions Georgetown had to offer, which was fine by us since we enjoy walking and exploring the neighborhood that way. If you didn't feel like walking all the way into town you had plenty of food stalls/night markets, restaurants around to satisfy your hunger. There was also a Healthland close by, which had deals on massages that were great. My only critique was the weird glass "door" for the shower; it did not cover the entire shower area and it lead to a lot of water getting onto other parts of the bathroom. Other than that I highly recommend this place!

Awesome Value”

Having to extend our Penang trip by a day we needed a extra nights accom.....we picked Glow for its location......upon entering you get a instant flash of color which puts a smile on you face.....check in was a breeze with the girl handling it chatting & telling us all about the hotel, except that you need your room key to make the lift work.........up to our room & a great looking funky room it is.......nice size with a very modern look.......bathroom small but workable......everything was spotless......the bed was far to hard for my liking but hubby was happy with it......breakfast was cold but there was plenty to choose from.......staff were very friendly & helpful........plenty of food choices within walking distance........we will defiantly stay here next time we are in Penang

Great location and value for money”

it is located at Macalister road and along this road, there are plenty of nice local food to be explored and the location of the hotel give you easy access to places like below Georgetown, Jetty, 5-10 minutes drive Airport, 25-30 minutes drive Gurney , 10 -15 -minutes drive Batu feringi, 25-30 minutes drive the room is clean and spacious, and definitely value for money with the current price setting.

Clean and modern hotel with attentive staff. ”

It was a great hotel. I took my parents here and wanted somewhere comfortable, clean and friendly. This hotel was perfect. It was a great location in Georgetown and near to the main sites. We could walk around or get a taxi easily enough. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. We loved the swimming pool after a busy day sightseeing. I booked a single room for myself but found the bed a bit narrow - a double room is only slightly more and I probably should have booked this. This hotel comes highly recommended.

Nice Boutique Hotel”

Overall we are satisfied with the hotel except the air-conditioning is not strong enough for our room which was a 2 double bed room. The part away from the air-conditioning was a little warm. Parking is limited for guest, but if you travel by public transportation then it's all right. Grab car is easily available in Penang. Food stalls/restaurants and chemists are all within walking distance. Pool & gym are very small but it's good enough for a quiet swim in the pool as nobody is using it. Gym only has 2 machines. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Overall it is a good because we were not expecting resort style facilities given the price and location of this hotel.

Will recommend to friends. The hotel ground floor has good tourguide service counter to ferry you around Penang. Don't need to call for taxi as the tourguide company can provide both ways services to drop you off at shopping centre or tourist attraction places. They will wait and pick you from the places to the hotel or dining places at reasonable prices instead of getting taxi to all places. You might end up paying more from getting taxi from outside the hotel as the taxi will charge by meters or flat rates if you want to use their service for visiting places. Will recommend to friends to use their services.

Just the right place.”

Stayed at Travelodge, Georgetown for 2 nights - a short break whilst visiting relatives in mainland Malaysia. We found the hotel clean, well managed, close to lots of historical sites and choice eating places! The staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful. Have recommended hotel to family and friends.

Great Location”

The good: Arrived at hotel around 1030am and was able to check-in at no extra charge. Hotel also allotted a room on the highest floor (8th floor) for us. note that 8th floor is actually the 9th floor because the numbering starts from Ground (G), then 1, 2, 3.....8. The location is great. Great local eats to the left and right of the hotel. New Lane (Lorong Baru) where locals frequent (instead of Gurney Drive) is also within walking distance. Diagonally to the hotel's right across the street (coming out of hotel entrance) is another cluster of good local hawker food which has more stalls open at night. There is this small pizza stall which uses a wood-fired oven to make pizzas! My wife and i walked along Jalan Macalister towards Komstar and then on towards UNESCO designated heritage of Georgetown, taking in the sights along the way. It's not that far for average people with no leg problems. the bad: the shower area in the bathroom is lower than the rest of the bathroom and both use the same tiles. Should draw a line around the shower area to prevent accidental falls. the water flows off slowly down the drain in the shower area. there is no door to completely enclose the shower area so the wider bathroom area can get wet. on 2nd day, we went out in the morning and returned in the evening. were disappointed that there was no replenishment 2 bottles of complimentary water. my wife called reception and asked for two complimentary bottles of water. the reception said ok, would send up immediately but the water never came. no in-room slippers. I understood from reception that due to Chinese New Year holiday, the supplier was late in delivering the slippers though the hotel has already ordered. despite the hotel being newly renovated and well located, my wife said she would not want to stay in GLOW again should we visit Penang again.

Cleanliness tip top and good staff service ”

It was quite a pleasant one as we stayed there for a night, how we wished that we could stay another night to explore the city of Georgetown even more. The slacking part was the insufficient of parking lots they have there as the hotel is in the middle of a congested and busy area. They only had 10 channels where i had no chance to watch any football on it although it was a weekday. We loved the unique classy concept of the hotel which lives up to its name, Glow. The staffs were friendly in helping us in anything that we asked for. But the only misfortune encounter we had was a summon by the Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang as we have parked our car outside the hotel premise without any parking cupouns being displayed. Overall it was a good stay!

Possibly the hardest, creakiest, and most uncomfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in”

The hotel is situated in a good location and really suited our needs in this regard. Check in and check out were painless and our brief encounters with staff were quite good. The room was quiet and the bathroom was decent. There was also a decent outdoor food court next door and a 24-hour convenience store across the street. However, even by Travelodge standards, there was nothing particularly good about this hotel. The first thing we learned on arrival was that the pool was closed for renovations so this wasn't great, but more importantly, the bed was a killer. It was extremely uncomfortable and every time you tried to re-position yourself, it creaked and moved and was awful, really. As a result, we didn't sleep very well and after long days trekking around Georgetown, this was the deal-breaker. I wouldn't go back.

Brilliant! ”

A wonderful hotel and room. The decor was perfect and the cleanliness unquestionable. Staff always very helpful, including printing boarding passes as required. We are western travellers and the hotels vicinity to several Penang food markets was wonderful, providing a perfect opportunity to sample all the local delights. We extended our stay as the hotels facilities were so good. We loved Penang and the glow hotel enhanced our experience.

Comfortable modern hotel”

Great location near Georgetown and opposite best hawker centre in Penang. Nice staff were very helpful and quite charming. Pool was out of action. Nice big family room very comfortable.
