Staying at Villa Butet. The great staying start with a boat transfer (the only transportation to and from hotel, hence need time planning discipline), once in room you will amazed with fantastic view of Toba lake from your room! Staffs are very friendly. Room and bed are clean and fresh. Dinner by the lake is another great experience. Suggest to have fridge in room, but not a deal breaker. Love to come back in future. Note: stay at the Villas, not at the Hotels (as the rooms are old and not in good shape).

The staff waited for us at the jetty with all smiles. However, some of the staff should consider us who had dinner at the hotel. They sang songs using the karaoke set very loudly which I believe disturbed some of us. I know they want to entertain themselves but they choose another more private place.

There is no clear direction to get there. So please dont use waze or google maps. You must first go to Ompu Herti hotel to wait for their boat. With 20 mins boat ride, you’ll reach Tiara Bunga Hotel.

The boat ride to the hotel is enjoyable as you could feel the see breeze and watch the stunning scenery. The view is marvellous. It is facing the lake. The room is nice eventhough it is quite small. The facilities especially the swimming pool are great. However, the restaurant staff made a lot of noise singing at the karaoke for more than 1 hour at the dining hall. Their voices were too loud and I felt disturbed with it.

Inflexibility ”
Property is actually beautiful but not well maintained. Rooms not really well kept. Common areas are dirty. Not much choices of food. Morning ferry starts at 7am, next will be 9am & 11am. A very short journey of 20 minutes boat ride but timing is not flexible and only 2 hours once. Although room rates are inclusive of breakfast, but it starts only at 7am where will not have the chance to enjoy the breakfast if you need to leave by 7am ferry. And if you think you could take the next ferry at 9am to catch your morning flight, I would advise not to risk it. Sometimes ferry might delay a little depending on other customers to board the boat and you still need to travel on the road to airport for another 30 minutes at least depending on traffic too.

When I booked hotel I didnt realise we had to take a boat trip to it... Was a short ride.. Rooms were ok considering covid was still around in Indonesia, culd b more loved etc.. food was nice from the resto, we only stayed 1 nite as we travelled Medan to Porsea to vist in laws grave.Wuld i go back yes if only for a nite, nothing to do there except the pool

Once you enter the resort, there will be no one, hardly to find a stuff.they only appear during morning breakfast time and check in time No watersport nor any facilites available ,but suitable for chillax and gateaway from work.view is stunning Ferry depart from resort to cafe tiara toba 7am,9am ,11am Ferry deparf from cafe tiara toba to resort at 2pm and 4pm Hotel only acess by boat .

It was low peak period here, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Managed to arrange for airport transfer that cost Rps250000 one way for my family of 6. The driver, front desk folk and manager were all very nice and helped us along the way. All check in is done at the Ompu Herti Hotel. You can only get to this hotel by private (free) ferry. We had no daily cleaning of rooms or replenishment of amenities in the room. In fact for 3 nights, we tidied the room on our own. Lovely views and swimming pool, but no other activities. The one and only restaurant only serves Indonesian cuisine. Breakfast was not too appetising. Bring your own coffee, tea, sugar and milk . If you intend to chill by the pool, bring your own drinks too. (We bought a mojito pre mixed bottle duty free before coming to Lake Toba). It was a pity as there is so much more to this place. Last morning here we had no water in the taps! We alerted the staff and after about half an hour it was fixed.

Beautiful Property overlooking the scenic lake”
Cons: Property is beautiful. We stayed at Villa Butet and the view from the balcony is just awesome. Would recommend for travellers looking for R&R. Not much else to do than to soak up the scenic view and walk around the huge property. The swimming pool is just a location for shooting, ig-worthy and the whole propery is surrounded by blooms of various colours and species. Breakfast was sent to our room perhaps there were low occupancy and we enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony overlooking the lake. Just beautiful! The property is accessible only by boat and the boat service was on time and efficient. Cons: the staff don’t understand much English. The hotel arranged for the airport transfer which i think was probably overcharged. We had to pay IDR250k from the jetty to Silangit airport (around 20 mins away). We only paid IDR400k from Silangit airport to Perapat which was about 2 hours trip. Conclusion: it’s a good place to put up while waiting for your flight back

Bug ”
1. Too many bugs in the room. as i am a bug hater.. this is quite traumatising for me. 2. once goes to the room by boat, you can not return to city by check out day. it is totally inconvenience, as you will be ''trapped'' in the hotel. 3. at night, the light provided is quite dim. so expect to bring flashlight 4. for horror-lover it is a good place to test your courage

Hotel only accessible by occasional boat trip across lake”
This hotel was too inconvenient to reach to be used as a base for work but it might be a nice place for a holiday. We never found out as we had too many meetings and site visits to make in the area. The agoda site did not make clear the logistical challenge so we did not stay in Tiara Bunga but in the much better located but less luxurious hotel run by the same management on the shore, Ompu Herti, which you cannot book through agoda. The Ompu Herti hotel staff were very amenable and kindly let us change the booking (maybe it happens quite often). I think agoda should make very clear the logistical limitations to those considering booking this place. By the way, the multiple choice questions do not allow you to choose not applicable, so I have had to choose awful - which is not fair on the hotel as we never got to even see it.

Great for business events”
This hotel is ideal for business events or groups of travelers, my recommendation would only be for those types of travelers. I was travelling solo and the hotel is very remote, accessed by boat (which is why my location rating is so low, I was not aware how remote this location was before my booking) Since I stayed during the week, there were very few guests so I was alone. The wifi did not work and there is no cable television. The restaurant appeared closed with no service so I ordered room service. The views of the lake are awesome but you are very secluded with no activities so make sure if you visit this hotel you go with a group, so you can make your own entertainment.
