Well located in the city of Wellington. Room was small but is okay. Parking is free of charge should you decide to drive over to Wellington. Receptionist was kind enough to prepare our room since we arrived few hours early. Highly recommended.

Great choice in Wellington - location, quiet, quality”

Located in the CBD, just up the hill from Parliament, it is a 5 min walk to the main bus terminal, and the Wellington train station is nearby. Comfortable, decent sized room with all the necessary amenities and looks like newly renovated, there's views from the rooms over town and the harbour and hills. Check-in was fast and friendly, so was check-out. Can walk into city centre, and there's cafes nearby, and even walking distance to Te Papa and Cuba Street.

Great Weekend Price”

Location close to railway station, great price, good staff

When I read some of the earlier reviews I nearly didn't make my booking. But I was really quite surprised how good the place was for the price. Everything was clean, the room wasn't big but not too small either. The weekend price must be close to the best value possible in Wellington.

Very convenient transit hotel when passing through central Wellington only a few minutes walk from the ferry and bus stops. Very comfortable bed in a quiet room (even though it was directly opposite the elevators), efficient friendly staff and a very good breakfast.

Great location, no complaints!”

We liked the location - walking distance from downtown, but still in a quiet area.

We found the rooms on the small side but very tidy and put together with all the basics covered. The bed was on the soft side but we like a firm mattress - personal preference. The laundry access was very convenient for us! We liked our stay here but it did seem like most of the other guests were there for a business purpose - it seemed to be in the middle of the political "hub" of Wellington. We had a great rate through a 3rd-party booking site and really enjoyed it here.

Really value for money ”

The location was convenient as next to a supermarket. We hired a car & had no problems with parking as hotel would guarantee us a car park. Daily parking rate was very reasonable at $15 per day. Thorndon is close to Parliament House.

Good Value for Money”

A comfortable hotel to stay. Staff were very helpful. Bed wasn't that great as it had a definite slump in the centre of the mattress which made it uncomfortable to sleep on. Otherwise a good place to stay close to central Wellington.

Nice hotel and nice service ”

prompt staff service

It was a pleasant stay and the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. They helped to arrange for cab service and prompt in reply when enquired about attractions to go at Wellington. It can be better facilitated if arrangement can be better made to accommodate tourists who were staying there over Christmas period such as special programme or events to cater to the group

Great Location”

Basic Hotel

Clean, Basic Hotel. Very good for a One Night Stay. Very near Lambton Quay and a few blocks away to Wellington Railroad Station

Restaurant service and food excellent

We chose the Kingsgate Wellington because it was the closest hotel to the Cook Strait Ferry. Reception staff were good and helpfull and the food and restaurant service excellent. Hotel is getting tired and rooms and facilities need upgrading (apparently soon)
