Romantic setting and fantastic breakfasts”

The Scent is a lovely boutique hotel located in Bang Rak, an area in the north of Koh Samui that is slowly becoming more upscale. There are only 13 rooms in the hotel, which definitely gives it a "cozy" feel. We booked the beachfront suite and were generally pleased with almost everything. The room was spacious, there was a great entertainment centre, and the balcony was large and even featured a working swing. We also found the bed to be extremely comfortable and had some great sleeps on it. The best thing about The Scent--other than their breakfasts, which are amazing--was the staff. Not only was everyone very friendly, but they all generally seemed to enjoy their job and enjoy helping people. By the end of our five-day stay, we knew most of them on a first-name basis and were sorry to have to say "goodbye" to them. There were, however, a few small annoyances with the hotel. For instance, we could never get the iPod docking station to work. And while we liked the very large bathroom, with the toilet on one side and the bathtub and shower on the other, for some strange reason they keep the big bottles of soap and shampoo on the toilet end and have no place for you to set it when you shower or bath. The biggest annoyance, though, was that the website lists the hotel as being located in Bo Phut, and the Agoda map shows Bo Phut Beach as its location. But this is actually not true; while the hotel is located in "Tambon Bo Phut" (which means "Bo Phut District"), it is not located where it is shown on the map, and definitely NOT located in Bo Phut Beach. Rather, it is located in Bang Rak, an area which is pleasant enough, but not nearly as entertaining as the actual Bo Phut area. Plus, you can't swim in Bang Rak Beach, which takes a little bit away from your stay. On the bright side, however, you can see both sunrise and sunset from this beach. Beautiful and romantic beachfront hotel”

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this amazing 13-room hotel on the quiet Bo Phut Beach. Since the number of the rooms at the hotel was limited, we had to switch rooms a couple of times, but we were offered an upgrade to beachfront suites for 2 of the 3 nights. And I mean beachFRONT... as in the suite had its own private outdoor seating and beach access! The Manager, Mae was wonderful - she even offered us a couple's aromatherapy massage! The hotel isn't very close to shopping or restaurants - but we didn't care! We spent much of our time at the hotel, by the beach, or in the pool. If you do want to venture out, I would recommend a 7 minute walk east - there are a number of good restuarants including a Thai seafood place. The hotel offers a shuttle service to Fishermen's Village - the merchandise at the shops are priced quite a bit higher than in Bangkok, but is a pleasant stroll and lot's of dining options. If you're in Bo Phut, this is the place to be!

Charming, intimate and quiet”

Excellent decoration and very comfortable bed. The staff is attentive and breakfast excellent. The restaurant is a little expensive but the food is good. Too bad the beach is a little murky. But the intimate feelign and the swimming pool make up for it. You can rent a motorcycle at the reception to travel around Samui and bo phut fisherman village is just right the corner.

Wish we could have stayed longer!”

One of our favourite Hotels of our whole Thailand trip. The room was beautiful, especially the bathroom and bed. It had everything we needed and it was so great waking up and having breakfast on the beach. The food was also fantastic. Although we weren't sure of the location when we first arrived as it was not near any restaurants or sights and it was more expensive in taxis 400THB each way (compared to mainland not compared to the U.K.) to get around. As we hadn't visited koh samui before we went into town to see what it had to offer but we're very happy that our hotel was nowhere near the main strip as it was not very nice. Think Magaluf. We wished we'd never left the hotel! Perfect for couples for a romantic trip, not ideal location if you want to be close to all the bars/ cabaret /clubs. But it IS only a short taxi to that madness so I would still recommend staying there!

Excelient hotel ”

I love this hotel, not only the helpful and friendly staff, but also the environment and the atmosphere. The decoration of the hotel make you feel like living in your own home. The lovely swimming pool and the beach let you feel so relaxing. If I visit Koh Samui again, I am sure I will stay in this hotel again. I stronly recommend this hotel to those who is looking for a relaxing vocation in Koh Samui.

Great boutique hotel w/ 5 star service”

This was my favorite hotel in Thailand and I am only writing a review because they did such an outstanding job. I work for a luxury hotel in the US, so I know what great service entails. The staff at yhe Scent exceeded all of my expectations. They were very helpful and attentive, helping us navigate around the island and find things to do. The hotel itself is done in a beautiful antique colonial style. I'm not a fan of cookie cutter hotels and the Scent is definitely an original. The room was outstanding, particularly the giant bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent. The lamb chops at dinner were top notch. Everything from start to finish was wonderful. Thank you for the stay.

Amazing boutique hotel”

Amazing hotels , we love it at first sight , the moment you open the hotel's door , you will have the feeling you have travelled to old times by time machines , the decoration of our room is Chinese , pantings of small foot lady with dress in Qin dynasty and woodrobes with beautiful sculptures. They paid attention to each details , it's perfectly illustrating the atmosphere of that time in china , the bed is very comfortable, and the staffs in is hotel is very helpful To be very honest ,koh samui proved not so interest , we do not like it , but the stay in this hotel make up. Small boutique hotel with excellent service”

i have an enjoyable stay with this hotel. i planned my proposal for my girlfriend at this hotel and all the request that i made beforehand with the executive manager were all carried out accordingly. they assisted me in arranging all the decorations and flowers which made my proposal went smoothly throughout the process. when i am down with food poison, the manager knew about it through one of their receptionist and suggested to my fiancé to serve the breakfast to our room. i will definitely come back to stay at this hotel when i come back to koh samui.

the scent hotel has welcomed us to the beach front suite with beautiful honeymooner's touch on their own initiative with complimentary champagne and petals strewn with petal infused bath tub ready...they also prepared my lotus bouquet beautifully which i requested for wedding photoshoot. The service is great. The place rings eloquently of the by gone luxuries. They have also provided complimentary transport to hospital for us. Really appreciate it. The staff are attentive and initiated but not intrusive. Housekeeping nicks even turn my bouquet of lotus beautifully petal by petal and it made my day. Beautiful touches like swan and bunny towel arts and daily supper snacks are wonderful.Thanks to the team for our beautiful memories. Dining is very expensive but good. Wished there is more choice of menu across variety of price range like local noodles and pastas rather than all seafood and meats because there is only so much one could take so we end up having to travel to eat. Spa massage is good but spa area is small and ambience needs to improve as it smelled musty. Highly recommended place for relaxation.

Great food”

This hotel offers a quiet relaxed location near to Bo Phut ferry to Koh Phangan and Koh Samui airport. The food at the restaurant and breakfast is excellent. I would recommend for 1 night, but not for a long stay as the beach at Bo Phut is not very good.

The scent hotel is really exotic and attractive hotel. the hotel room full of aromatic scent.It makes me relex during my vacation. and they offer free suttleban to fisherman's village and Peace Resort. So you can eat out to Fisherman's village and experience another beach and The restaurant is really great! vary professional! I would love to stay if I'd go to Koh samui again!

Wonderful retreat”

This girl s a wonderfully romantic retreat on the north coast of Koh Samui. The food is good, the room awfully romantic, and the pool relaxing for looking and swimming. Each room is unique, with old furnishings, nice quilts, comfortable linen robes. I recommend this resort in a quiet beach as a quiet respite from the world - not quite Rhai but with great style.

Classy Hotel in Koh Samui! ”

I loved everything about this hotel - from the decorations to the location right on the beach. koh samui is small, and accessible, so there is really no bad location - it's about 10 min away from fisherman wharf by scooter. the staff really made it pleasant, people in thailand are very nice (as long as you are nice as well)... hoping to bring my husband back here next time!

A great choice for Samui away from Chaweng's mess”

The Scent hotle is a unique property. As soon as you step in you feel transported in anther world... it's like being in a different time. Very peaceful and pleasing environment. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and the bathrooms are huge and somptuous. The GM/ chef is very nice and attentive to all the guests. The food is excellent and they would do anything to accomodate your needs. All the staff is so nice it's amazing! We've received the best service in our entire trip through Thailand and we've only stayed at some of the best hotels in every place we went to. Location is excellent. Very nice and quiet beach, yet very close to the airport and more populated areas if you look for a crowd. But after we took a quick tour in Chaweng on one of our envenings, coming back to the Scent hotel was like coming back to paradise! This is definitely a place we miss a lot and we look forward to coming again ASAP!

Beautiful hotel with great food”

We stayed here in June 2016 after traveling trough Thailand for three weeks. We loved the hotel: great design, great food and very clean. It is a bit out of the way, but for us that was exactly what we wanted. Located just between fishermans village and Chaweng, this place is good for relaxing and not that far away from the busy towns (in case you want some late night drinks). We rented a bike trough the hotel, a bit more expensive (300 Baht) but worth the money because the chance of being husseled is low. The design of the room and hotel is amazing and we felt right at home. You can use the kayaks for free to peddle around the laguna. Swimming in the bay is not a great because of the low tide and many rocks. The nice pool makes up for that. We saw quite some beaches - also on Ko Samui - and felt this is the one with the most beautiful beach, especially because it is near the town centres, without the loud music. The breakfast is amazing, try the poached egg, it is really nice. Plus, they had the best coffee I had in Thailand! We would definitely recommend this hotel!!!

Lovely hotel, amazing rooms, great staff.”

Great rooms, cozy environment, great cuisine. Location is a bit off the main spots in Koh Samui but you can always get a taxi or rent a scooter. Not a big resort, more like a boutique hotel, so expect a warm and friendly staff, great service, but other than that, enjoy the beach and that’s pretty much what the hotel has to offer as far as activities. You can book pretty much everything else through the hotel if you’d like. It’s what we wanted, so we loved our stay and highly recommend it to others staying a few nights in Koh Samui.

Great location, rooms dark”

The scents they use and the icecream they greet you with are wonderful, although beware that the mosquitoes are also attracted to the smells, so keep room doors and windows closed at all times if you want a good nights sleep. The food is well worth hanging around for, but nothing is far in Koh Samui so try the Cliff and Dr Frogs for something different and the Shack in Fisherman's Village is good for steaks.

Delightful In Every Way”

I arrived at this gorgeous aroma caught my attention which I followed through an unassuming door way to this secret treasure at the waters edge. When I walked into The Scent Hotel I was greeted by two attentive smiles, a cold cloth and welcome drink. Shortly after this I was taken up to my room and noticed it wasn't the room that I had booked online, mentioned it to them and they were happy to move me across to the one I had. Once I settled in to this beautiful tranquil space I was able to unwind and take them up on their 2 for 1 massage offer, of which I enjoyed a 2hr massage to melt me into relaxation before my slipper tub bath over looking the beach, then making my way to bed. The room was perfect in every way and a exactly what I needed to complete my trip. In the morning I was able to choose from selection of delicious breakfast options. Overall I would say this is a lovely hotel. A great place to stay if you are looking for something extra special in every way.

A secret place!”

it was such a good value for money. the hotel staff was always there, arranged everything that we asked for! not a great dvd collection! great view from the pool side! it was a really good choice, for a five star boutique with a great price! near main pier and main beaches. its recommended to rent a scooter while there, in order to get around samui, otherwise stay at the hotel and enjoy the scent in the air! it smells very good everywhere!!!!

A beautiful hotel in Samui that you would never miss”

I was in Samui and stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Everything was very nice. Extremely recommended for this hotel, the staffs are friendly and helpful. Ancient Chinese room style (the room is quite new, just their style) with the bathtub and shower. Suitable for couple or honeymoon. Breakfast is also very good. (Egg benedict). For cons, - the location is quite far from attraction and the road along the way is too dark in the night so you should have your own car. -
