The Fernery Lodge and Chalets
The Fernery Lodge and Chalets provides a range services and amenities to help make your stay more comfortable. Never be out of touch with your contacts, with free Wi-Fi offered throughout your stay. Shuttle services provided by the lodge make exploring Kareedouw even more convenient. If you plan to arrive by car, you'll appreciate the lodge's free parking, right on-site.
The lodge provides front desk services such as luggage storage and safety deposit boxes for guests' convenience. On cold days and nights, the lodge's on-site fireplace will keep you warm. Staying for a long time, or just need clean clothes? At the lodge, your favorite travel outfits will be kept clean and available with laundry service provided on-site. For lazy days and nights, in-room conveniences like room service and daily housekeeping let you make the most of your room.
Please be advised that smoking is not allowed in the lodge to allow cleaner air for all guests. Smoking is limited to designated areas only, for the health and well-being of all guests and staff.
Feel right at home during your stay at The Fernery Lodge and Chalets. Some rooms at The Fernery Lodge and Chalets are equipped with linen service for your convenience. Some rooms at The Fernery Lodge and Chalets include separate living room and balcony or terrace as part of their design layout. In-room entertainment such as television and cable TV is provided for guests in some selected rooms.
The lodge also offers a refrigerator, bottled water, a coffee or tea maker, instant coffee and instant tea in some rooms for when you feel like it is needed. Knowing that bathroom amenities play an important role in increasing guests' satisfaction, the lodge provides a hair dryer, toiletries, bathrobes and towels in some select rooms.

Nothing starts a morning better than a delicious free breakfast, which you'll always enjoy at The Fernery Lodge and Chalets. If you don't feel like going out to eat, you can always opt for the delicious dining options at the lodge. Tranquil accommodation in lovely setting”
Fernery Lodge is spectacularly located overlooking a gorge. Our chalet was perched on stilts on the gorge edge and appeared completely isolated from our neighbours. A totally relaxing location. Staff were very attentive, the food was excellent and the lodge grounds are beautiful. The restaurant has spectacular views across the gorge and to the sea. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. There are a number of walking trail options from the lodge. The short trail in the grounds is excellent. However a longer option that takes you through mainly pine plantation we found boring. Well worth the 10km drive in and excellent value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Fernery Lodge. We had the Owners Suite and it was quite indulgent! After almost a month of staying in some very basic accomodations, we knew this was going to be a bit more opulent - and it didn't disappoint! The views are amazing, and the suite consisted of two levels, the entrance level was bedroom and bathroom, with beautiful, strong shower, and lovely bathtub. The downstairs was a living room and almost fully self catering kitchen. I only say almost as there was a little bit of a lack in plates and cutlery (but this was really only a minor inconvenience for us). The living room also had a lovely fireplace. Both levels led out to a beautiful balcony where you could hear birds singing, and the wonderfully soothing sounds of the waterfalls and ocean. We used the braai for two of the three nights, and ate at the restaurant on the other night. The staff were delightful, and always willing to help out with any questions we had! We loved it!

Hidden gem”
My bf and I loved this lodge. It is a bit hidden so finding it after 10 pm due to a delayed flight and 2 hour drive from port Elizabeth wasn't a piece of cake. Gps doesn't locate it. Overall we loved the whole feel of the lodge, it felt very quaint, providing us with a magnificent view of the Indian Ocean. We opted for the owners suite as oppose to the chalet, given we already stayed in chalets for our safari. The room was very clean and spacious, we had an ensuite to the living room, fire place with a kitchen. We had open balcony as well. We stayed two nights October 6 to 8th so weather was still chilly at night. Breakfast was simple but good and dinner was satisfying! The lodge definitely met our expectations, we went for a jog around the lodge vast grounds and even tested out the early evening jaccuzi overlooking the mountains. Location wise, it takes around 20 to 25 mins to get to storms river by car.

We visited the Fernery Lodge during our 11 day tour of the Garden Route and voted this our best stop out of six hotels. We were so impressed with the concept of the venue, location and accommodation. The staff were wonderful and the grounds, walks and views were amazing. Simply wonderful.

You have to drive 6-7 km on bumpy dirt roads to get to The Fernery but it is so worth it. Everything is designed to maximize views of the beautiful gorge, waterfalls and ocean, as well as the surrounding forests. They've also built little lookout points at various points so you can walk around and take in the views from a variety of vantage points. The rooms and cabins are beautifully appointed and the staff is so gracious and accommodating, it was just a pleasure. A wonderful place to just relax, enjoying the birds, butterflies, outdoor jacuzzi, games room etc. but it's also a 45 minute drive to hikes and water activities in Tsitsikamma. Highly recommended.

The lodge and some of the rooms have the most remarkable view over a gorge with a series of small waterfalls running down to the sea. The rooms are extremely comfortable and generously appointed. The food was excellent, as was the service in the dining room. There was a glitch with our booking (a mismatch between the room as described and as provided) but that has been addressed. We would recommend this place to anyone – the prices are fully justified and we hope to return.

Wonderful stay”
We had a wonderful time from the moment we arrived: we were first greeted with tea, then visited the resort with its beautiful view of the gorge, and taken to our cottage where the attendant lit a fire for us. Then we had a very nice 3-course dinner in the lodge, and fell asleep to the sound of the rushing river and glow of our fireplace in our wonderfully comfortable bed. The next morning started with a delicious breakfast in the beautiful lodge. Unfortunately we had to leave at that point.

Amazing location - wish we could have been there longer”
The drive there was a little ominous, but as soon as we arrived we were greeted so kindly and taken to our amazing chalet. It was so big we couldn’t believe it. The views at dinner and from the bar were stunning and we never wanted to leave. The food was excellent and very good value. Breakfast was nice and low key. We didn’t have any time to do anything around the hotel the next day so left wanting more which is always good. Would highly recommend!
