Exceptional”
Located 2 minutes walk from the edge of Hoi An Old Town and 5 minutes from the river, Thanh Van 1 is a great, small-ish, airy hotel with 4 floors built around open atrium housing a pool. No lift (so NOT wheelchair friendly) but a porter cheerful carried our cases to top floor ( was gone before we could sort out a tip - tipping not really part of their culture yet!). Cheerful, helpful staff (Bella and Sally especially so). Free, good wifi & B&B only but would award 6 stars for value. Mobile deal so paid only c. 610k VN dong (c. £21, $27)/night for 6 nights in June for ensuite, king-size & comfy double, air con room with fan & safe. No view from window but quieter on on top floor at rear (lower rooms may get more road noise esp at front) & view from tiny roof terrace made up for it. Did not try led tv but fridge contained beer, water & soft drinks at street prices. Breakfast OK with fresh eggs & fruit, VN and European (inc pastries) as a buffet breakfast by pool. Will order taxis and good tours at only small premium. Laundry service = wash & dry only but for 40k dong/kg. Highly recommended for budget travellers who want a little comfort. Agoda made online booking a breeze too.

Excellent Service, Great Location”
we chose thanh van 1 hotel for its perfect location in the city center, and were not disappointed. there could not be a more convenient location to stay in hoi an. the hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the city, enjoying the lovely cafes and bars, and being in the tailor epicenter of vietnam. our room was very nice and comfortable. the only complaint we had was that we were in the front of the building, and the street was very noisy during the night/early hours of the morning. if staying here, we would recommend requesting a room in the back of the hotel to avoid the street noises.

Excellent Value”
Thanh Van hotel is in a great location. It's only one block outside of the Old Town, so it's an easy walk to the Japanese Bridge. For the value, this hotel is great. It has a small, but nice pool. Breakfast is made fresh and though it's limited, it's fine for the price. The rooms are a bit small, and the air con wasn't very strong in our room, but other than that, this place is great. The staff is really friendly and very willing to answer your questions. Our room didn't have a view (it looks at the side of a building, so ask if you can get a room that faces front.

Perfect stay with excellent service!”
We were very pleasantly surprised by the location of this hotel which was off the busy loud streets but only 5 mintes walk from the lantern/japanese bridge. Hotel was excellent, pool was a gret refreshment in the humid hot day, the room was very cosy a fitting the Hoi An style. As said in previous reviews, the staff here is the best! They are very polite and attentive, they arranged a good prices airport transfer for us as well as a private car w/ driver to My Son. Both very reasonable price. We even had our laundry done here and all was good. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Cute and charming hotel close to old town”
We made a reservation at Thanh Van 1 hotel but somehow there was a problem with the communications. So there was no room ready for us when we arrived. The staff offered us an upgrade to the suite at the sister hotel Thanh Van 2, which we accepted. The suite at Thanh Van 2 is nice and spacious. The furnishing is comfortable and inviting. We were glad that we accepted the switch. The downside is that Thanh Van 2 is a little further out from the old quarter. But the hotel offered free bikes for us, so we could just biked into town, which took about 5 minutes. If you don't want to bike, they have a shuttle to go from T.V. 2 into T.V. 1. So it wasn't a problem at all. Also, the area around T.V 2 is newly developed so there wasn't any trees and not too many shops. The breakfast is a nice buffet style...not too many choices but adequate. I would stay at this hotel again (in the suite).

Really good hotel with lovely staff”
We booked here after reading the reviews on agoda and we were not disappointed. The room was really lovely, very clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and eager to help in anyway they could ( we booked our onward journey with them) The outdoor pool was a nice tough and the breakfasts had a good variety. Only downside was it was quite noisey at night but our room was facing the main road so other rooms may be quieter, but with ear plugs it wasn't a problem when sleeping. I'd highly recommended this hotel, we were made to feel so welcome and really enjoyed our stay. We also booked an Eco Fishing village tour with them which was the highlight of our stay in Hoi An and I had a dress made at their tailors next door to the hotel. So far on our trip through Vietnam, this has been our favourite hotel!

Great hotel at a great price!”
The Thanh Van 1 hotel was excellent. It was very clean, and very close to the local attractions in Hoi An. Not close to the beach at all, but we weren't really there for that. Wifi didn't really reach into the rooms, so we had to go to the lobby or out on the porch to get a connection. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well.

Perfect Stay in Hoi An! ”
Nice Breakfast, with different bread and fruits. Rooms are clean and looking good. Pool is open from 7am to 10pm and really refreshing. Not very noisy place, but you are still in the center of Hoi An, if you walk 3 to 5 minutes you will reach the river. You can rent a bike in the front of the hotel and bicycle in 15 minutes (4km) to the beach. Restaurants in front of the hotel are very cheap and delicious (Hoi An Chicken Rice + juice ~ 70K). I wish you a nice stay there! :) Two young girls from germany.

Lovely, friendly hotel staff and pool is a bonus.”
We were three adults using two rooms. We did change from our initial rooms as we found the front rooms very noisy from traffic noise. Staff were super-helpful and readily accommodated our room change. We ended up in room 209 which has no view (backs onto a wall out the window) but its super quiet and has a queen a king single bed in the room so was nice and roomy. Buffet breakfast had a good selection and was kept well replenished. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. Location of hotel is great - all the hustle and bustle of Hoi An on the doorstep. The pool wasn't large, but was very clean and great to use to cool off in after a morning/afternoon activities. We had a four night stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it. Internet was frustratingly slow but hey, there are worse things. We found that all of the free internet connections in Hoi An blocked facebook (even the hotel wireless connection - but available on the hotel lobby computers).

A great chilled few days, very happy ”
Me & my Husband had a great time at the Thanh Van 1! The staff (especially Bella) were lovely and very friendly & accommodating throughout our stay. The rooms were very nice and comfortable (we were in 405 & 207 due to not being able to take the night bus when we wanted) and both rooms were lovely. The pool was so nice and refreshing especially with the little flowers dripping into the pool from the bushes on the top floor-made us feel like we were in a luxury spa! Breakfast was nice and filled us up for the day's activities. A great stay-thank you 😊

Great hotel!”
Pros: - Great location, only 2 minutes to Hoi An Ancient Town - Great pool for a two star hotel - Nice and supportive staff. They let us use towers, bathroom and the pool even after we check out. - Hotel room is big even for 4 people. Cons: - It is very close to the street so it is a bit noisy. - The pool is indoor and right next to our room. We stayed with some family and they were quite noisy, especially their kids. But the staff was supportive. They helped to keep the noise down. - Wifi was weak. Our phone signal was quite pool when we were at the room.

Central location and great value”
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and is a great hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful and aren't pushy to get you to book things with them. We did organise our taxi back to Danang with them and it was done easily with no fuss and at a reasonable price. The location is fantastic, it is very close to the centre of the old town, only a couple of blocks walk. We were in a room facing out over the street and it is a little noisy but its part of being in a busy Vietnamese town and we still slept great. They provide 2 bottles of complimentary water a day and the items in the minibar are pretty cheap as well. Couldn't get wifi in our room (we were on the 3rd floor) however we could get it sitting on our balcony which faced into the centre of the hotel. Pool looked nice but we didn't get around to trying it out. Breakfast is plentiful and there is a good range. There isn't an elevator but the building is only 4 floor so not a big deal at all. Would stay here again, thank you for making our stay enjoyable!

Comfortable and convenient”
We had a great couplet of nights at the Thanh van 1 hotel. We were having clothes made near by at bebe and A dong silk tailors and both are a short 2-3 minute walk away. The room was comfortable and quiet. We would definately stay here again.

Beautiful hotel”
We booked this hotel the night before arriving in Hoi An just for one night but I wish we had known how beautiful it was. We definitely plan to return and stay for longer next time. A little out of town but close enough to walk. It is absolutely stunning and the staff are lovely. We had a late night transfer from the airport which we were very grateful for, we felt bad as everyone was asleep when we arrived. When we awoke we were graced with the beauty of the hotel and friendly staff who provided a nice breakfast. Highly recommend.

Great location, clean room”
Having never been to Hoi An, I wasn't sure what to expect. The first big surprise was the lack of elevators, but now, having been to other parts of the country, I realize that is sort of the norm. The hotel is well-located, and I found myself enjoying the easy access to Old Town, as well as places like My Son. For a budget traveler, this is a sensible option.
