Good Location, Good Facilities, Slightly Old”

Overall, our stay at Tailr Made Tekapo was excellent. Richard was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. He gave us a map of the area and pointed out some of the more popular things to do. He also provided us passwords for 500 MB of wi-fi each. Before giving us our key he gave us a quick tour of the facilities and made sure all our questions were answered. The room was small but comfortable. There was a heater in the room that kept us toasty warm throughout the night. There was also a hot water bottle in the closest that we could have used if we so desired. The bed was slightly saggy but was still comfortable. Showers and toilets were communal and were located just down the hall from our room. They were clean and we had no complaints. At no point did we see any lines waiting for showers, even though the hostel seemed to be quite busy. The kitchen was located just across the parking lot from our room. It was very well supplied and we were able to cook both our dinner and breakfast quite easily. Just off the kitchen is a common area to hang out, read, surf the web, etc. Our only complaint was the fact that the entire facility has seen better years. We had to be careful or the handle would come off our door when we tried to pull it shut. In the morning we could hear everyone getting up in the rooms next to ours and could hear every footstep and every door close in the hall. We were getting on our way early so we didn't necessarily lose sleep over it, but we would have if we were trying to sleep in. Our visit at Tailor Made Tekapo was a pleasant one and, thanks to their affordable prices, we would probably stay again in the future.

Definitely the best place to stay in town”

Nothing beats this place when in Lake Tekapo. It's so close to everything and has great bed. What I love the most about this place is the fireplace in the common area. It feels like home.

Nice and warm motel”

very close to Lake Tekapo, only 10 minutes walking distance. Staffs are friendly and helpful. But Wifi is only limit for 500 MB per person.

One night at Tekapo”

The room is clean. The heating system is okay. The staff was very friendly and introduced a lot of attractions nearby. Good for tourists who want to stay for one night or two in Tekapo at reasonable price.

We had a very nice time in this hostel! Location is very close to center! Very clean in both common room, showerroom, toilet and in room. Staff is very very nice. She is excellent. She took us to our room and take us to the pantry, common room, shower room, toilet locations. The facilities are excellent. With all cooking equipments needed. Showerroom water flow from shower head is good enough. And it is quite awesome to have interaction with lovely cat, rabbits and chickens in the hostel! With this price, I have nothing to complain at all! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Nicely situated hostel”

We enjoyed our winter stay at tailor made in a private ensuite room. Good location very close to center of Tekapo. Good kitchen facilities available. Friendly staff. Although it was cold outside, the space heater in our room kept it nice and warm.

Interesting Hostel”

Had a really enjoyable stay at the hostel. The hostel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The highlight for our group was interacting with the animals (sheep, chickens, bunnies, guinea pigs ) at the hostel. Definitely one of the most interesting hostels I've stayed in at NZ.

The double room with private bathroom was clean and comfortable. Heater is good enough to warm the room. Cafes and eateries are located opp the main road abt 5-10mins walk away. Ample parking lots at the eateries area. Owner is very friendly and informative. Had a great stay!

Every time I enjoyed my time”

I stayed for 2 nights with my boyfriend in double room. Bed was a little bit small, but I can say my boyfriend is too tall ;) still we could sleep very well. There was a heater and extra blanket in the room, so we didn't feel cold while we were sleeping.

Special star gazing spot”

The place is excellent. The bed is good and the room is good. Staff detail explain where should we go for star gazing. The common area is big and it got everything we need.

Cute little accommodation”

Kept very clean, all areas! Impressed. Comforting vibe in all areas of the stay; lounge room, kitchen, bedrooms. Heaps of space. Loved the animals in the back yard.

Great family style place with beautiful backyard and animals! ”

We enjoyed the stay very much. The staff are very helpful and nice. They even provide us a free baby crib for our 1yr baby girl. Only the design of kitchen is a bit tight so when there are more than 4 ppl using the stoves, it's hard to manage.
