A relief ”
We had a nice stay at the hotel, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Especially after some of the dirty places we stayed in before, we felt comfortable enough to relax and spread our stuff out. The pool area is surprisingly not so bad. Hotel was very quiet- we wondered where other guests were. After our first night a bunch of sewage spewed from the drain in our bathroom which was gross but we were moved immediately, staff were always so helpful and friendly. We found a cockroach in our room on the second night, but after travelling through Flores we thought the room was excellent value compared to other places! Felt like a low class western hotel for a good price.

Acceptable Hotel”
This hotel is very close to city. The staffs are friendly. The restaurant open from 6AM to 11PM. Food is not too bad. Room wise is decent, with clean bed and good size room as well. My room was facing the main road, so there are road noise; however it is a quiet city so didn't bother me much. Didn't use the pool but looks decent as well. There is a small convenience store within walking distance and an ATM at the main entrance. I would probably come and stay here again if I visit Maumere.

Decent hotel for the money, but not great”
You can stay a lot cheaper in Maumere, but the Sylvia Hotel Maumere is not bad for the money. It has big rooms with hot water and A.C, TVs, and a nice staff. However it is located out of the city center and near nothing interesting, is not particularly clean, and has a unappetizing breakfast. Recommended for business travelers only. Tourists should stay by the water and backpackers should stay in a cheaper place downtown.

Clean and friendly staffs”
It was a flying visit. I arrived late afternoon and the check in was swift by very friendly receptionists. They were able to get me a taxi for a couple hours to drive around the small town. The room is clean with the basic ammenities. I noticed the swimming pool but did not have the time to enjoy it. I think its a great facilities for those staying with kids or tourists who wish to explore the island. It is the best hotel to stay in Maumere. NO wifi in the room but it okay at the looby area.

had a nice stay at the hotel. Location is pretty central and rooms are far nicer than what we had paid at a similar rate elsewhere in Flores. Good value.

Maumere hotel Sylvia”
For Maumere this is no doubt quite large hotel, but not very high in terms of standard. You have to remember this Flores island and far away from Jakarta's bright lights and fancy wining and dining locales. Hotel is located on the road to Ende, a bit on the side of Maumere center. Hotel has wifi in public areas (unstable, drops off quite a often), quite nice pool area, A/c and a safe in all rooms, karaoke rooms and restaurant with average Indonesian selection. Rooms are kept ok clean, and there is 24 hour security. There are one or two alternative options in Maumere, but doubtful if they are any better than Hotel Sylvia.

after sailing to maumere,we booked a room hoping to be able to watch the AFL grand final, alas the hotel didn't have the australian channel on it's selection, the restaurant menu is quite large, but after ordering ox-tail soup on three seperate occasions, it was still not available. breakfast buffet was very limited & the hot food was always cold, nothing seemed to be done about the numerous flies in the restaurant either, fortunately the room for three nights was very cheap

Best option in town”
In this tiny "there's nothing here town", besides the resorts, the best option. Overpriced, yes, but the only one in town with acceptable conditions. Breakfast not so good to ocidentals, and staff don't speak much english, but are very nice. Good restaurant, price ok (only good option around). Nothing to complain about the bedroom, nice pool.

Nice building with big pool”
They allowed us to check in early, nice room with high ceilings, all quite clean, room cleaning staff very good smiling people, the people on the front desk need a little more training, abrupt and unsmiling, often not there, or chatting amongst themselves. rooms large, fairly old, but reasonably kept, Old TV but premium channels, fridge, safe, a/c, no wifi in rooms, and wifi in lobby was slow and spotty. Breakfast a reasonable choice, 20 minute brisk walk into town. Nice outdoor pool.

Good for what you pay for”
The place is nice and clean but too many problems in the room. But the service is great. They solved the issues straight away. Need more variety of breakfast. There was a party the night we stayed. They should have a soundproof room as it was too loud for the guests. Overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely come back and recommend others.
