Heaven on Earth”

From the moment you arrive, until the moment you have to pull yourself away and head back to reality, Sunset Hill Boutique Resort is a piece of heaven on Earth. Firstly, the owners and the staff are absolutely first rate. They are attentive and friendly and are always willing to assist you whether it is hiring a scooter (which they actually show you how to use!), ordering a delicious pizza to your room or enjoying the best coconut shake in the world by pool – with a view of a sunset that takes your breath away. The sunset view rooms are big, stylish and extremely well-appointed, it’s like a home away from home. The hotel is situated perfectly away from the hustle and bustle upon a quaint little hill, which makes it quiet, peaceful and really in sync with its beautiful surrounds. What absolutely made this trip so special was the people that were guests there – everyone was so friendly and from all walks of life and parts of the world. My guess everyone is in a good mood because the hotel is just one of those places where you can’t help but smile and be happy! If you like a big breakfast, they have you sorted with an all you can eat buffet for just 150B. No cheap junk food for breakfast like is common in Thailand, just fresh and top quality ingredients! So satisfying, a perfect way to fuel up for a big day exploring…or just soaking up some sunshine by the pool. I cannot recommend Sunset Hill Boutique resort highly enough, even though I don’t want to give up this little secret, it’s just too amazing not to share! One more tip – everyone there all said the same thing, “I wish I had booked this hotel for longer!” – so take my advice and book an extra night or two, you won’t regret it!

An excellent experience, Staff best in Thailand”

I would highly recommend Sunset Hill Resort to anyone staying in Koh Phangan. I have stayed in many many hotels and resorts not only in Thailand but throughout south east asia and I can easily say without any exaggeration the staff in this resort provided me with the best experience and level of customer care I have ever had. Yes the rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable and the views were grand. However this comes in second place to the attentiveness and service I received from all staff members which was second to none. Someone was always willing to help me with any problem I had or request I made. Thank you Sunset Hill Resort I will be coming back to stay.

Highlight of our Thai trip”

The Sunset Hill hotel is a beautiful building located on top of a hill, offering a stunning view of the water and islands neighboring Koh Phangan. The included breakfast was very good, served by sweet Lek. The infinity pool is beautiful and relaxing. Our dinner at the restaurant was also delicious. The location is great because you are far from party centered Haad Rin. We rented mopeds for just 250 baht per day and checked out the island. Nearby restaurants were also delicious. Sylvester and Marcel were very accommodating and we had a great trip.

Lovely Stay at Sunset Hill”

Our stay at Sunset Hill was lovely. We came to Koh Phangan to check out the Full Moon Party, but wanted to stay far enough from the action so that we weren't surrounded by all the commotion. Though it was quite a drive, it was well worth it. The view alone was worth every penny. Photos don't even do it justice. The staff was nice and went above and beyond to take care of us. Upon arrival we were greeted with a fruit juice and our room had flowers strewn across the bed. Such a nice touch. The rooms were very clean, had AC and good water pressure with both hot and cold water. If I ever go back to Koh Phangan, this will be where I stay.

Great location/view and very clean & spacious room”

After reading many reviews for hotels in Phangan, we decided on Sunset Hill Resort and that was a great choice. Well located on a hill with a superb view with a constant light breeze and no mosquitoes so that we could stay on our terrace. The room was spacious and very clean. Lots of windows. Well located not far from northern beaches or any place on the island. With a scooter it is perfect. Management has changed 2 years ago and is very friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend this hotel to friends.

Wonderful stay ”

We truly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Hill Boutique. The staff is wonderful, the rooms were nice and neat, and the view of the ocean is incredible. There's a shuttle that takes you to the secret beach which was really nice and you can rent motorbikes from the property. We recommend you stay there while visiting Koh Phangan!

The Sunset hill resort is a wonderful place to stay. I called them when we were leaving Bangkok to arrange a Pier pick up for us and it was so smooth. Wii who answered the phone, speaks fluent English and is lovely to deal with. That being said, all the staff at the Sundet Hill Resort are wonderful. Our first room was not to our liking as it was a Garden View Room, we requested to me moved to a Sea View Room and they accommodated us as soon as a room was available. The Sea View Room that we were moved to, was fantastic! Very spacious and the view is to die for! We had such a fantastic time here that we extended our stay for over a month! It you stay for over a month, they also give you better rates, as you are considered longstay. I highly recommend this resort and advise you to book a sea view room.

Sunset Hill stood out a bit both in price, room types, and the incredible hilltop view of the ocean and distant islands--but we balked at a few negative reviews. We decided to see for ourselves and in the end we had a great trip to Koh Phangan but we also rented a scooter and found travelling around that way a lot of fun. You will want a scooter because the hill is steep and pretty long--especially if you're making a few trips out during the day and evening. Also the island's super easy to get around via scooter (cost was about bhat/day)--we had a fantastic time at Haad Yao, and could have taken the daily free hotel shuttle to it but chose to spend most of our time exploring options further afield. Our first room was visually nice, but there were some functional problems. The water shut off a number of times, and it was right next to these huge cell phone towers. Also they were actively constructing on the third of their buildings and we had to walk past it every time we left the room. All the while the really fantastic hotel staff were cheerful, hard working, and very willing to correct things. We moved into a similar room in the main building and everything was just fine. The lounge area in the main building is really nice for the sunset, and the little infinity pool is nice for a dip after being at the beach. So I guess just be aware of how the hotel is situated and where, and hopefully the owners will get the physical spaces and dining really up to four stars soon--but then so naturally would the price go up.

We booked this hotel to have a relaxed and quiet stay on Koh Phangan, the room was huge, clean and had a balcony with one of the most beautiful views we had ever seen out across the bay looking towards Koh Sumui, the pool was clean and had the sunset view that it promised, though we wouldn't go to Koh Phangan again (Far to Tourist orientated) i would highly recommend this hotel if you do decide to visit koh phangan.

What an amazing place! Beautiful Villa set in the hills of Haad Chao Phao with the most amazing view over an amazing infinity pool. Ticked all the boxes for me! Amazing staff too with all your needs catered for.

Amazing stay, beautiful view! ”

This resort was very lovely, it's located on the top of a steep hill but the view you get in return for the climb is outstanding. The resort has an infiniti pool overlooking the ocean, it is spectacular. Rooms were clean and very large. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Wii who works in the main reception area. Great stay at a great price! For those going to the full moon party, the resort typically rounds up a few guests who will also be attending and provides transportation to the party in Haad Rin.

definitely the best during my stay in Koh Phangan. Loved the pool and the lounge view. Staff is nice and helping.My husband fell of the motorbike and they helped clean the wound.Got a lot of advice for scuba diving. not like the family owned hostel,the hotel management is great.You can get help from the staff 24hours. Be sure to visit Secret Beach's Koh Raham if you stay at this hotel.Love the swing and sea view. Normally I don't write reviews,but this place is just awesome. I will come back again and recommend to my friends.

Great Location, Beautiful Scenery and Excellent Staff”

The hotel, is in a word, excellent. Location wise, it is a bit out of the way from main areas, 20 mins scooter ride from Thong Sala and about 40 mins from Haad Rin pier. But we knew that before we booked. We wanted to be away from the central places so it fit us perfectly. Having said that, it is literally 300 yards from the second best beach on the island (The secret Beach) and 10 mins away from 2 of the best restaurants on the island (Romanzo's and L'Alcove). So we cant even fault the location as much. I would recommend hiring a scooter while at the place.It is certainly advisable as it freed us up to explore the rest of the island a lot more. And that is what we wanted so it was a big tick from us on that front. The hotel sorted us out with that which was great of them. We had the sea view apartment, which was just stunning. The sunset we got (hence the name) from our room was brilliant. The sunset was even more special when we were by the infinity pool. The pool was a bit smaller than what we expected but again, we really didn't mind that at all. The place is just beautiful and we fell in love with not just the hotel, but the island itself. A big special shout out to the staff. They were remarkable and outstanding in explaining and understanding our needs. They went out of their way to help us and couldn't be more accommodating. so thank you to the staff. You guys were ace. The place is clean and kept to a high standard. The only slight bug we had was the shower in our room. because the bathroom is all on one level floor wise, we had to put the "welcome" thick matt out everytime we showered, so we wouldnt flood the entire bathroom. That was a slight bug bear but again, we didnt mind too much (I am still giving it 5 stars). All in all, great place, highly recommended.

Modern hotel with stunning views”

Cold drinks and big warm smiles on arrival. Although the hotel is out of way (from Haad Rin), it's location is what makes this hotel stand out. The view on to the sea and what the hotel is aptly named after, sunset is simply stunning! It's in a quiet location away from the busy Haad Rin but still only a 30 minute drive to the Full Moon party (transport via tuk tuk can be arranged through the hotel). It's a great place to chill out and visit the more beautiful beaches on that side of the island. Snorkelling gear can be hired free of charge which was a great touch and free bottled water is replenished every day. Rooms are just the right size and the living/dining and kitchen area also great in size and functionality. Housekeeping rather sporadic and at weird time but cleaners are friendly enough and do a good job. Food at the restaurant was also lovely. All staff are helpful and friendly. Overall, we would all recommend and would be happy to return.

Best Hotel we've stayed in so far!”

We stayed at the resort for 3 nights and would have loved to stay longer-unfortunately we had already booked our next hotel. The Sunset Hill Ressort has an amazing infinity pool area,huge and clean rooms and provides a free shuttle to a nearby beach (Secret beach) which we used several times. Wifi works great. We had both breakfast and dinner at the Hotel restaurant and the food was delicious-only a bit spicy. Staff was always very friendly :-)Best hotel we stayed at so far- we will come back!!

Spent 4 nights at Sunset Hill Resort. The hotel is situated on top of a hill overlooking the east of the island and has beautiful views and a great infinity pool. The rooms are clean and well-equipped. We had a couple of unexpected issues whilst there (for example lack of water in the room) which the hotel dealt with quickly and professionally. The food is expensive in the lounge/resturant in comparison to other restuarants on the island but there are a couple of places to eat nearby - just beware of the steep climb back up! This is a nice place to stay if you want to be on your own or just the two of you.

Great view, nice rooms, tranquil location”

Had a pleasant stay at sunset hill, we liked it so we extended our stay for one night. Booked a Grand Seaview Junior Suite. Extra Windows make this a very bright room. All in all spacious with a huge balcony. Just as it is situated in another building the view (still awesome)is not as wide as in the other buildings I guess as trees block the view a bit. But still have a stunning panorama!! The room is quie big too, comfortable and the extra fan over the bed gives a nice breeze. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Infinity pool is nice, but unfortunatelly the whirlpool did not work and the garden surrounding could use a bit more love. The huge swing at the tree made using a concrete pipe is a bit.. strange.. but nevertheless the sunsets at the infinity pool are pretty nice :) Would be nice to have some massage options there. We came with our own car, but it is just more fun to rent a scooter to explore the Island.

Nice hotel great value for money”

The hotel was above good, the rooms where clean and comfortable and the food is good. 1. The hotel is located on a hill and is not close to the sea (Sunset hill right...) thus walking to the beach, any restaurant or 7-11 could be done by scooter only. 2. I should mention that there are many cellular antennas in the area of the hotel, pretty close to the rooms. 3. Fast and free internet connection. 4. There was bad TV reception during rain, but but who cares...

A must stay location for travellers”

Me and my girlfriend were traveling around koh phangan and booked somewhere last minute online and this place had great reviews. Well worth the money we paid and you just can't beat that view. Food is good except service is a bit weird and they tend to just make what ever they feel like although regardless it was allways good. To stay I would recommend getting a scooter to get around but I would say that about anywhere on the island. The staff are really friendly and helpful with anything you need. Would highly recommend

Fantastic place with lovely staff ”

Sunset Hill is a professionally run resort on prime piece of land that has the most amazing views and great facilities. Kanit and team are incredibly helpful and kind which makes all the difference when traveling with family. We enjoyed our stay there and would certainly recommend Sunset Hill.
