Fantastic service”
I booked a single room for one night, only to be told that all the single rooms were fully occupied. Fortunately, they upgraded me to a double room for free. I kid you not, it was the most comfortable double room ever even for a fan room (it must be better for the AC room). The staffs are great and friendly, and if you are an extravert, you will fit right in place. The communal area is open air so you will get plenty of fresh air in the middle of the city. Do remember to buy your own soap and shampoo, and if you plan on cooking, your own groceries. Cleanliness is really tip top and I would recommend Step Inn so much to all fellow solo travellers. Kudos.

Good value for money”
Clean, conveniently located hostel. Close to LRT and bus station, lots of eateries nearby, walking distance to most sights. Fan room was adequate, especially with window. My only gripe was that the outside terrace was also a smoking area, ruining a nice place to relax.

Budget hostel”
Hostel has reasonable quality for good price. Stuff was kind. Room was small and there was only bed and fan. It was clean. And breakfast was toast and marmalade.

Above average”
Location and staff is ok, bud the building and facilities are old. Beds are uncomfortable. No Music, no atmosphere. Because windows and doors are open in every floor, reception, Lobby and kitchen, makes the building very hot except for the room I stayed where I had air-conditioning, and opens the field for different types of mosquitos wich eat you alive. I asked 2 members of the staff, what to do for the mosquitos, they both laughed without offering any remedy or showing empathy. I left poisoned and sick with a very unpleasant feeling. Not suggestable for people that soffer warm temperatures and mosquitos bites.

Step inn guest house review”
I find it much cheaper here. It's a bit comfortable with AC and fan. However, the toilet is really jerk and dirty and the locker isn't useful coz it's small for my private things. I stayed for two days but be very careful that my charging was lost coz somebody stole it as I charged my phone during the night. Even one of my roomate kept my charging in his private locker. What!! It isnt yours why he kept it without permission. The dorm is really not safe at all. You might choose for single bed to be much safer. So, you should buy the locker key to prevent from loss of your belongings. Inn

"homely" place to stay, good value”
3rd and final stay. Stopped a few nights on this visit. The guesthouse did not disappoint. Staff always friendly and helpful and full of good advice. Felt "homely" and welcoming. Drank copious tea and still didn't get free breakfast as we get up and get on before 07:30. Return of the construction noise from next door - but everything else outweighed this. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse as a base for exploring Kuala Lumpur. If we return to Kuala Lumpur we would stop again. No need to change anything.

friendly and great location”
2nd brief stay in Kuala Lumpur. Even faster book in (as return visitor), map provided on previous visit helped to organise sightseeing of Chinatown. Helped ourselves to free tea and coffee. Again didn't sample the free breakfast as early morning departure for flight to Borneo. Great place to meet like-minded travellers. Heard the building works on this visit but "management" got the noise stopped.

We love the step inn!!”
This was the 3rd time we have stayed in the step inn, the location is perfect for us just on the edge of China town, it is much cleaner and has better facilities than anywhere else we have stayed in China town! The staff are great, they are all really friendly and helpful, they make you feel at home! It has been 2 years since we last stayed here and the manager recognised us which is always nice. There is a great atmosphere with plenty of space to hang out and meet new people and free tea and coffee all day! What more could you want!

Great Location, Clean, Cheap, and friendly Hosts!”
We booked two nights for our entry into Malaysia, figuring we could then figure out where we would stay if Step Inn wasn't to our liking. We really enjoyed it and ended up booking a few more nights! We booked a double room and they must have overbooked and put us into a 3 person room with AC (instead of the fan room we payed for) at no extra cost. The hotel was clean with hot showers (just gotta figure out how to make the machine work first! and a nice, simple breakfast. After coming from Australia, where we were staying in a "cheap hostel" that was full of drunken madness and we didn't get any sleep, coming here was very restful. It is a bit off the main street, near a hindu temple, and was quiet at night. There is also lots of great food nearby. We walked to all of the big tourist sights from the hotel, like Chinatown (close), KL Petronas Towers (25 minute walk, but pleasant), Bukit Bintang (15 minute walk), and more! We really enjoyed exploring the city from here and will go back when we finish our travel in Malaysia, before we fly out of KL! The staff were very friendly too. It is a budget hotel and is a bit rundown, but it's clean and a great value for the price! The cleaning chemicals they use in the rooms smell funny when you first walk in, but will disappear with time or bring some incense!

welcoming place in a great location”
1st night in Malaysia. No problem locating the hotel. Fast check in, very helpful staff, provided with a very useful Kuala Lumpur map which was to prove useful on our subsequent stays. Great proximity to the bus station, handy as we awoke 20 minutes before our bus was due to depart (and made it!). Didn't have time to check out all the facilities due to short stay and sleep. Not disturbed by building noise on this visit.

Convinient ”
Stayed at Step Inn Guest House for just a night with a friend. The room was a double Room (Ac) and bathroom en suite. Just enough for a night, clean bathroom and a comfortable bed with working AC as well. Common kitchen with basics .Met a few friendly lodgers and the staff are very helpful in planning your travel agenda. Preferable for back-packers,it's a budget hostel. Thanks you. Had a comfortable stay here.

Good place, good location, even better staff”
While the rooms could use some more decoration, the Guesthouse on its whole is a good bargain place. The location couldn´t be better for the price one pays. It´s just 5 minutes walk from Puduraya bus station, allowing for easy transfers across Malaysia and 7 minutes walk to LRT lines 3 & 4. It´s also at walking distance of places like Masjid Jamek, Chinatown or the Central Market. The common facilities are pretty well maintained and clean. The WIFI is fails sometimes and doesn´t always reach the rooms, though. Now truly the great value of this place it´s the people running it. Living in Malaysia as a foreigner, I have been exposed to cheating and scamming way too many times and thus feel really grateful when I encounter honest advice and criteria in answers. Not only the staff proved to be useful at all times in the several times I stayed but I heard them giving advice to other guests that I knew were right and looked for their interest. I have seen them helping tourists to avoid being scammed, explained the best way to get here or there and to recommend good local places to eat. Priceless. By mistake, I booked at fan twin room instead of a double room. I asked the staff if we could change and they checked... ending up giving us a family room with an air con double bed and extra bed room. That was impressive. In return for their help we didn´t use the air con, just the fan which was more than enough.

Homie and Relexing Hostel”
i like the atmosphere of the hostel. it is very homie and friendly. normally people choose to stay in a hostel, thinking that they only need a place to sleep. but step inn even makes you want to lazy around in its kitchen near the windy balcony where you can feel the life of kl to the fullest. if not, the living and reception area is another choice. it is the place where you can sit on the sofa, get some chats with alan, one of the owner or greet new guests checking-in. i will come back to this hostel when i happened to be in kl again.
