good hotel, good location, GREAT staff”
i preferred this branch - the plaza garcia- than the one in jrg bldg. the staff in plaza garcia are more pleasant and friendly and their rooms are way bigger esp the bathroom than the one in jrg bldg. the hotel is jsut walking distance from sto. nino church, which i may suggest that you visit. we stayed in sampaguita at plaza garcia on our first day at cebu. on out last daym, we decided to stay at sampaguita suites at jrg bldg since its just a block away from crown regency and closer to mango square etc. big mistake. their receptionist, cynthia, was, i guess, having a bad day. she never smiled at anyone ( we were 3 groups checking in), speaks before she thinks (instantly says they were fully booked before she even asks if the people who were checking in have reservations), and has her beauty products in front of her! to top it all off, their bathroom was smaller than the one in plaza garcia. anyway, if you want to stay in a great hotel with friendly staff at a cheaper price, i would recommend sampaguita suites at plaza garcia. because you cannot replace great service with walking distance hang outs.

Sampaguita Suites/Plaza Garcia - New Hotel”
The Sampaguita Suites/Plaza Garcia is a new hotel which opened in December 2009. It is billed as a budget hotel and I would rate it overall as a solid 3 star hotel, offered at a 2 star price because of it's location. The hotel design is welcoming with the lobby area having a couple of nice leather sofas for sitting down and using the free wi-fi. Due to the hotel's concrete construction, I was unable to get any decent signal above the 2nd floor, and the hotel will tell you the wi-fi is only good in the lobby and the restaurant area. However, I did get lucky enough to pull a free signal from someone nearby with my laptop in my room window on the 4th floor, but I wouldn't count on it again. The room I initially rented was one with two full size beds, but since I wanted a wetbar and a refrigerator more than two full size beds, I asked to be moved to a room with the wetbar and they moved a refrigerator from another room. This room had only one full size bed and one twin size bed, but I was OK with it. The hotel staff was very accommodating since I had paid for the most expensive room with the expectation I would have the room with the wetbar and the fridge. Breakfast was not included, but you could bill items in the restaurant and from room service to your hotel room, which was very convenient. The breakfast I had at the restaurant was delicious and the room service I ordered was delivered speedily. When staying here, you are within 150 yards of the Magellan's Cross, the Basilica del Santo Nino, and Cebu City Hall. Personally, I felt safe during the daytime and night hours. However, the area is loaded with many street people at all times of day and night, and for many people I spoke with this is a rather dangerous area to be walking around alone during the night hours.

My Cebu Excapade”
When I arrived at Cebu, I took the fixed rate Taxi for 395php. I told the driver to take me at Sampaguita Suites Plaza Garcia and not on the other branch on Mango St. I do not know anything about Cebu but I was aware that there are two branches of Sampaguita Suites. But the cab took me on the Mango St Branch then suprisigly we were on the wrong place and the driver's face was quite upset but I told him on the first place that it was near Magellan's Cross. How come they don't know it? Anyway, when I arrived at the hotel, the staffs were friendly and warm. As I went to m room, there were no slippers inside, just really plain room with tv and hot and cold shower. There is a wifi area on the lobby and in the restaurant I was able to use it. The food in the restaurant was affordable too and delicious. But one thing I didn't like there was the area. I was lost in there raining I don't know where to go, It was like you are in Quiapo or Recto in Manila. But overall, I will still be staying there if I will be in Cebu next time.

Excellent location and price”
Sampaguita Suites is the best hotel if you are looking for a convenient place to stay at the heart of the city. It's location is perfect for those who wants to walk around the city and see tourist attractions like the Magellan's Cross, Fort of San Pedro, Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, Heritage of Cebu Monument, and many more. For pilgrims, the location is perfect for those who wants to go to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño and the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. Definitely staying here again on my next Cebu escapade!

An affordable place to stay in Cebu!”
sampaguita suites is a new hotel in cebu. as promo, they offer free transpo to and fro airports/seaports. the rooms are clean. nice sheets. the bathroom is nice and has good water supply with cold and hot showers. the staff is friendly and helpful. the security guard gets u a taxi if u want to go out to the cities. it is near the cathedral and ports. hence, a very convenient place if you want to stroll, and transfer to other provinces like bohol, or negros. better if there is wifi in the rooms, as tourists nowadays like me always want to go online inside the room. better also if thers a nice resto/bar downstairs. was there or i didnt notice? anyway, you can always go out for a night out. mandaue city is very close. taxis are affordable, the drivers are kind and do not ask for additional fees other than the metered rates.

Great Value for Money!”
Sampaguita Suite Plaza Garcia is affordable. Their location is close to tourist spots! Few yards you can see the Magellan's Cross and Basilica De Sto. Niño. If you will be going to Bohol, pier 1 is just a 10min walk; yes! No need to hire a cab. This is my 2nd time to book hotel at Sampaguita Plaza Garcia. You're right! I will definitely book their hotel come future travels to Cebu. 😊

Nice place with good service”
Our stay in Sampaguita, Plaza Garcia was Excellent! The Hotel is walking distance within 3 major attractions in Cebu: Magellan's Cross, Sto Nino Church and Museum, and Fort San Pedro. This could save tourist at least half the time and money. The staff are courteous, the food is cheap and according to my taste. Highly recommended for family travellers!

near to cebu historical attractions”
a great location for a budget traveler who are interested on historical locations. sampaguita suites plaza garcia is really near to magellan cross, sto.nino church and port san pedro. all rare walking distance from hotel and convenience store nearby would help you to buy some drinks and foods that is more cheaper than the hotel offered.

Highly recommended”
I was with my parents when we bookes our stay at Sampaguita Suites. We were bound for Bohol last May 14 and the location was very convenient since it was near Pier 3 (Cebu To Tubigon). I booked a Standard Triple room and got just what we paid for and more. They have cold and hot shower to offer and wifi, though the connection is faster down the coffee shop. The utilities were okay. The three of us have bath towels and soaps but no shampoo or toothbrushes included. The also have good food at the cafe, though this is paid separately since free breakfast is not part of the arrangement. The staff were very polite and accommodating, as well as their security guard who hailed the taxi for us. Overall, our stay at Sampaguita Suites was lovely.

Not a bad deal for the money”
We stayed only one night at Sampaguita Suites. The hotel seems to be quite new, and the rooms are clean, tidy, relatively modern, but simple. Don't expect any fancy amenities, but you won't find cockroaches either. For the price, a good deal! The staff is very friendly and they do a good job running the hotel. It is near Magellan's Cross if you want to go and see it. We came in to Cebu by ferry, which docks not far away. The surroundings are not too great (but that is a general problem of the Philippines, not the hotel's fault), with slum children and beggars hanging around day and night. Overall, I would recomment the hotel for a night or two, but I would not stay for a vacation. No one wants to go on holiday in Cebu City anyway, though. If you are travelling and need to spend a night, go for it, it's ok!

Very Affordable and Accessible”
Booked for 2nights at 2,904.00 in total for 4 adults. Helpful staff. You can see the Magellan's Cross if you go out the place. Just walk your way around the area to visit the Plaza Independencia (4minutes distance by foot), Fort San Pedro just beside the Plaza I., Basilica del Santo Niño 2 minutes walk from the Plaza I., Magellan Cross is right outside the Basilica. Island Souvenier is at the right side of Sampaguita for your pasalubong. McDo is infront of Sampaguita. Mang Inasal, Cebu Lechon and a grocery if you turn left after Mcdo. Behind the grocery is where you can buy more pasalubong. However if you need a wifi connection inside your room be ready coz we never had a connection inside. My friends had to stay outside the room to get a wifi signal. But there is 4G if you have Globe mobile data. When I asked for pinoy's favorite timba and tabo because there was no bidet sprayer in the bathroom, I still had to clean it well coz it produced dark water after I poured water in it.

Fantastic and was satisfied”
I would like to say that I would stay again in Sampaguita Suites. The Receptionist, as well as the Security guard were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. I was able to check in early and had a small but very comforting room with the view of the city. The location is perfect if you would like to see the historical places of Cebu like Magellan's Cross,Fort San Pedro, and the churches . It is also near to the malls, McDonalds and other foodchain and "pasalubong" outlets or store. The only downside is the water pressure But all in all , I had a very peaceful and satisfying stay in this hotel.

Excellent Affordable stay”
I enjoyed my stay here. I originally booked for one night and then ended up staying a week. There is a more centrally located Sampaguita Suites which looks nice also but I think it is extremely busy. The hotel is best for people traveling on a budget its not for the people who complain complain. Even thought there doesn't seem to be anything to complain about. Well recommended I would definitely stay again. Its so cheap people stay here in the hotel rather than rent an apartment. Its prob same price as a nice apartment if you took one here. Costs about £1 in taxi to S and M centre mall.. So cheap..

Affordable and excellent location for travellers”
Staying at Sampaguita Suites Plaza Garcia is an excellent location for travelers or for tourists if you are planning to visit Cebu's tourist spots. It is not just very near the port or pier but it is also very near Cebu's tourist spots like the famous Magellan's Cross, Basilica de Sto. Niño and Fort San Pedro, somewhat like Intramuros in Manila. There is also a supermart just in front of the hotel which is convenient to any of your personal needs. There are also food choices available nearby. Hotel staffs are accommodating.

Perfect location, but be careful when you go out”
Sampaguita suites is perfect for those who are just looking for a simple place to sleep in. Pros - in front of Mcdonald's, near tourist spots especially the famous Magellan cross and Sto. Nino church, ref inside room, luggage storage, elevator, hot/cold shower, fast room service, delicious and cheap meals. Cons - there were men drinking beer at the side of the street, heard that someone's bag got snatched in front of the hotel and it was in broad daylight, reception girl did not allow late check out even for just 1 hour even if our check in time was around 7pm the night before.
