"We stayed at the Martina motel because everything in town was booked due too the elephant festival being on. It is about a kilometer outside the town, but a cheap tuk tuk ride from the station gets you there in 5 minutes. The hotel bought our tickets for us in advance and we picked them up on arrival. They provided free transport to both the elephant buffet and the big show and even gave us free ponchos because it was raining. The restaurant has a wide choice of cheap food and a special buffet breakfast was provided free on the show days. The rooms are huge and very comfortable, being designed for Thai business people visiting Surin. The ambience is quiet and relaxing with a small garden area and Bhuddist shrine, the whole place surrounded by fields with lovely exotic bird calls and animal noises in the morning. Surin itself seems very hectic in comparison!"

"We were in Surin for the annual Elephant Festival, the Suanpa resort is ideally located for the festival attractions and within easy reach of the town centre. The resort is very large and whilst not modern the rooms are spacious and clean they even have bath tubs!!! The restaurant is very popular and is crowded every night with locals and tourists the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Will certainly be back next year."

"It’s a hidden gem in Surin. The garden and the ambiance make this place worth it. Hold your business meeting sitting in the garden around a beautiful wood table. Sit on your veranda with a coffee staring into the nature and listening to the birds. The Roman columns at the corner of the veranda give you the feeling of being on a plantation. Maybe you want a little get away with the one you love. The room with the four poster bed will fulfill that honeymoon feeling here. You wouldn’t believe you are in the city here. I love it! The price, the staff, the Muriel of a flower painted on the wall, it all gives the feeling for the word “boutique”."

"surin is a little city.this hotel,locted in the westsouth of surin,is sometime hard to find.i called their front desk when i arrived in surin,the girl cann't speak english...but i find a local drive to confirm the position with her and cost me 60b from the railway staion to the hotel.the boss named boy is very very kind,he and his wife can speak english.he drived me to the restrante suggested by sb in the lp and drive next morning to the bus station,help me to get the ticket to nanrong.i wanna to extend my heartfelt tka again.if i go to surin,i will stay in this hotel again."

"No accommodation was available in Buriram for MotoGP 2018, so we ended up staying here. It has many rooms, but who knows why it was built where it is! I think we got the last available scooter in Surin, so we were able to get to the track ok (about 50km away). We had a VIP room, it's a good size and has a fridge, a carport, is spotlessly clean, but has no other amenities (kettle, tea/coffee etc). We travel with our own immersion heater, coffee cups, plastic cutlery etc. I don't think the budget rooms have a fridge. There is a shop on site which sells and reheats food; also sells alcohol and bits and pieces. We ended up staying an extra day (5 instead of 4) as all flights were booked out of Buriram. The main thing to watch is that the directions shown for "Phaetra Resort" on Agoda are not accurate. Use Google Maps to select PETRA RESORT! That will get you there."

"this resort was nice to stay at. although for the uninitiated it a bit minimalist. combined shower and toilet with hot water only at the shower. television is only thai and no subtitles even. beatiful surroundings and a fish farm on property was a real seler for me. the fish at the restaurant was very fresh and very well prepared. staff was friendly and very helpfull but had little english skills. as i was with a thai girl this was not a problem for me. what i really appreciated was that most hotel will treat your thai companion as a bargirl as a matter of course. since my fiance' is thai i was worried about this. it was not a problem and she was treated with all due respect. separate bungalows aalso was a real plus."
