Best experience 3D2N at Perhentian Island with Mimpi Hotel. Hotel, transfer boat and snorkeling activities arrange by Mimpi. Swimming pool facing Long beach with magnification view. Breakfast is good. Friendly staff specially staff girl at swimming counter which really help my kids on arrangement snorkeling activities. Thumbs up. Need to improve room wifi signal but other matter was awesome. Really recommended if you want to stay at Long Beach Perhentian Island.

Resort has a very nice beach (compared against others that we've been to at Perhentian islands), staff is amazingly friendly and helpful (upon arrival we had an issue with leaking handshower - it took 10 mins for someone to come over to see the problem and next 10 mins to fix it by replacing it with a new one). When doing the booking ourselves, we noticed people raising 2 issues: quality of food and cleanliness. In the resort we ate only breakfasts and these were great (big variety that will fit everyone's tastes). When it comes to cleanliness on a daily basis our room was nicely cleaned up. Overall we are very satisfied with our stay at this resort and if we come back to Perhentian Islands (which I very much hope for!) then we would definitely stay at Perhentian Island Resort again.

Everything was perfect at the Ombak Resort. The staff is always smiling and available. The 2 snorkeling outings went very well. The breakfast buffet is very well provided, there is something for everyone. The screening of a film every night is nice, and if it bothers us there are other quiet places on the beach. The "bad" scores due to the almost total absence of wifi is not justified. If you need to connect, the reception is there to meet your needs (check-in online for flights, printing boarding passes, booking boat return...). We are on the Perhentian Islands, being cut off from the world is delicious-looking. Thank you Ombak!

In general accommodation in Perhentian islands is over priced compared to KL and other countries in South East Asia. Having said that, I got a good value deal for islands here. The location is handy and although few rooms have ocean views, they are set in a lovely garden and the hotel layout is interesting. Views from restaurant areas are great. Staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. Handy to beach and very convenient for the ferry.Coral Bay is not quite as good as long beach for swimming but still fantastic and overall it is a much more relaxed and quiet place to stay than long beach which is about 10 minute walk away if you do want loud music and bars.

We were quite doubtful when booking this resort because of all the Agoda reviews saying CVIR was old, damp and falling apart. But we took it anyways because it was the cheapest option at that time. Surprisingly, when we arrived, a majority of the chalets had been renovated and lots of the furniture were new! Hurray! We booked the standard airconditioned room which was lovely and enough for 3 people (we were just 2). They even had a patio and an extra sitting area inside near the door. Shower was awesome. No problem with pressure. And there was 2 head options. When we were checking in, the receptionist offered the sea view chalet which would cost extra rm100 per night. The room was more spacious than the standard rooms, but not much difference in view, because all the chalets were facing the sea. Except some of them were behind other chalets. Lucky for us, on the day of check in, the chalet infront of us was being torn down and by the following afternoon, we had a clear view of the sea! Food wise, food was a bit pricey (as is always on islands) but very well worth it. The fried rice was waaayy better than most found on the mainland and the amount was huge, so you really won't be hungry after a meal. The restaurant was also classy and cosy. If you're in a mood, you can sit next to a tree and maybe some squirrels will come down and peer down on you (one squirrel lept on the back of my friend's chair!) As for the beach, the one in front is a bit busy for swimming since that's where all the boats drop the passengers. The beach on the side of CVIR has lots of (broken) corals and rocks, which is lovely for just walking around and enjoying the view. Lots of sea cucumber here too. So for an enjoyable swim, just walk across to the beach infront of Perhentian Islands Resort where the beach is clear. As for activities, you have the basics at CVIR. We didn't need any goggles or life jackets since the water was crystal clear and shallow. We even got to swim with the fishes

Alunan is a beautiful resort, nicely secluded from the rest of the island. The staff are super friendly and accommodating and recreational tours and facilities (such as kayaks and the catamaran can all be hired out for a reasonable fee). However snorkel hire is free :). The resort is an eco friendly resort providing reusable metal water bottles free off charge, with refillable water stations located all over the resort (they also use metal straws instead of plastic). Wifi is unstable but that seems to be the trend all over the Perhentian Islands. The room was beautiful and clean, and snorkelling in the Perhentian islands was amazing (we joined the tours run by Alunan). We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and definitely recommend it to family and friends :).

first off, forget what you think is 5 star. the perhentian islands are basic! some of the other 'hotels' offer next to nothing with no spirit either, and we were overwhelmed when we arrived at bubu. the staff were so friendly, helpful, and the rooms were really comfortable. the beach makes up for anything else, and anyone who gripes about the hotel really should investigate the others. this place is perfection!! the most organised and 'local' place on both islands, great service, incredible views, and the best food we ate in our 2 week stay. i didn't think we had breakfast included, but breakfast was included (delicious), and we also got 2 free cocktails each evening between 5 and 6. it kind of made up for the price tag. i'd recommending saving this place for the last, because trust me, it is the best, and you will be surprised.

The reviews did scare me, however we wanted to visit the Perhentian islands and we had no alternative. I must say the the resort was wonderful. Let me start with the room (we booked a superior room in the main building). The beds are more than ok, however the shower and toilet (both in the room and the one are the reception) could use some updating and that's an understatement). The breakfast is for malesian standerds very good. You can get toast, all kinds of pastry, fruits, cereal, and Malsian style breakfast. Moreover, you can order eggs (prepared in all ways: omelette, scrambled etc). The menu of the restaurant has enough choice. We also had lunch in other places, but I must say that the restaurant in Arwana was very good. The chef (Abdulrazak) is very kind and even gave us some Malaysian chicken saté. For diner they also have a very good bbq or fish steam boat. The best plus of the resort is the swimming pool. It is cleaned every morning. It is a shame that they do not invest in a good filtering system (you don;t need to clean the pool in the morning so in the long run saved you money and the pool isn't dirty in the evening). This is the largest swimming pool on the island. Is very useful if you have small children (and indeed for adults :-). The hotel has also it's own small pier. This is very handy if you need to carry luggage. You don't need to drag this over the beach to you resort. Another big plus it the diving school at the facility. For people that have no experience...the pool is very handy for learning the basics of diving. We took lessens and found are very satisfied...other schools go to shallow water witch is very hard due to the waves. This is by far the best place to stay on the Perhentian Islands. The villa is really lovely and very spacious with an awesome outdoor bathroom and lots of big windows. The breakfast was great with more than enough options and great coffee. Every evening guests get two free alcoholic cocktails, which given the price of alcohol in the Perhentians is really fantastic (it's a MYR140 value for two people every night). The beach is great and they have sun loungers with traditional umbrellas for guests in front of the resort. The beach on Long Beach is the probably one of the bluest water experiences you're ever going to have in your life. The room could have benefited from a fridge, a TV (just to be used to connect a laptop to for a movie at night), a small sound system and an armchair. For the price of the room, these extras should be included. Further, some minor repairs were needed (some lights in the back of the villa in the indoor section of the bathroom were broken, the air-conditioning dripped the last night we were there). Regardless of these issues, of the eight nights we spent in the Perhentians, the two at Bubu Villas were the best in terms of accommodation and service, we felt relaxed and comfortable.

The location is fantastic, the food and drinks were super tasty and such good value for money. The owner is great, very helpful and informative and great to talk to. There was however no wifi as advertised (we are digital nomads so this was important), and the electricity only turns on around 7pm and off again at 9am in the mornings. We also had nothing to sleep on in our tent, literally just a blanket :( Everything else was great :)
