"This hotel has been one of the highlights of my travels around Asia. Set on a quiet road about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Chiang Rai, the fairly ordinary entrance road does not prepare you for what waits at reception and beyond. Once checked in the friendly staff guide you through a tropical paradise of plants and trees to one of the spacious and well equipped bungalows. Make sure to bring mosquito repellent as this is one of the prices you pay for staying in the centre of so much greenery. Reception staff are friendly and helpful although two of my few criticisms of the resort are that a) Their airport transfer is overpriced by about 200 baht (I booked through the tour place across road) and b) some of their tours are also more expensive than walking across road - plus there do not seem a lot of options for the solo traveller. But these are both small, easily remedied criticisms. The attached restaurant bar provides breakfast in the morning and drinks and meals at night; remember to get your daily 10% discount coupon and remember the 3 for 2 happy hours too. The restaurant have both friendly staff and some amazing food. Try the Kao Soi Gai - a new dish for me and now one of my all time Thai favourites! The breakfast buffet was perhaps the best I have experienced with a wide range of Thai and Western choices. Also easy to get a tuk tuk up to the night market (should be about 50 baht each way) All in all, the LaLuna is a gem in Chiang Rai and is most definitely on the 'must return' list!"

"Can be a little expensive for Thailand, but if you're staying in Chiang Rai I would stay here. Great sunset views from the rooftop bar. The breakfast buffet was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend that cheapest room that includes breakfast as there is plenty to do in the hotel and Chiang Rai. The only need for the room is to sleep."

"The resort is not far from the airport, maybe 10-15 minutes by flat rate taxi (I paid 150 baht at the airport taxi desk). The hotel is away from the town center but that wasn't a problem, The hotel offers free and convenient air conditioned shuttles for easy drop off and pick up at both night bazaar and Central Department Store. The hotel is sprawling, but once I got my bearings it was fine. I was upgraded to a very large and nice room with a huge bathroom. The room and bed were excellent. The excellent breakfast buffet was not included with my room booking, so I paid the extra charge, The pool is huge as are the grounds including lawn and lake. The staff was flawless, always smiling and helpful. I doubt there's a nicer resort in Chiang Rai and I would gladly stay there again."

"We chose this resort to avoid traffic and crowd in the city center during Songran New Year. We had made a perfect decision. The room is specious and clean. The resort is near every must-visit outside the city of Chiang Rai. It was also our intention to stay in this resort which is situated in the middle between Mae Sai and Chiang Rai. For us, it was very convenient to drive to Doi Tung, Doi Mae Salong, Mae Sai, and ancient city of Chiang Saen. We could not find any faults during our three nights at the resort. We certainly will stay here again next time we visit Chiang Rai."

"General impressions: This resort is set apart from the main street and overlooks the Kok River. For our trip in February, the resort was very quiet, with only a couple dozen other guests from what we could gather. Public Areas: The lobby is spacious and comfortable. A welcome drink is offered during check-in. The main pool area is scenic and well designed, though the pool water was a bit too cold for our tastes. Only one elevator is available for each wing of the hotel, though given the low number of guests, this was not an issue. Rooms: Rooms were quite spacious with a comfortable Thai-style couch by the window. The rooms actually look nicer in person than they did in photos. Bathrooms were also quite clean and all plumbing worked well. WiFi is free and rather fast. Power outlets are plentiful. Food: Breakfast is rather good, even if the buffet is a bit small. Fresh eggs are cooked to order perfectly. Room service is also available and the pricing is very reasonable given that this is a resort set apart from the main roads. The food, particularly the curries, was delicious. Services: The hotel offers a van service to the Night Bazaar upon demand. The fee is 100 baht each way per room. (The return trip can be made via other means, though taxis are not plentiful in Chiang Rai.) A pleasant surprise was the free airport shuttle, also available upon demand. I recommend checking with the hotel first to ensure availability, even though this didn't seem necessary when we used the service."

"This was a great hotel. it seemed like the staff really cared. Its located in the middle of a predominantly thai residential area. 15 min walk to big C, and central plaza ( which were also filled with only locals) making prices very cheap. Please note this area is unforgiving if you cant stand bugs or cockroaches ( they roam the streets at night). but hotel room includes bug repelent and mosquito zapper. we had one cockroach get into our room on the first day. but after that we were more carful with keeping door closed and putting repelent under doorslit. breakfast is good, includes different home made thai dishes each day, for those who like more than eggs and toast. room has hot water kettle. and many ammendities ( no microwave though) good for a quiet comfortable sleep. beds were better than average thai bed. best coffee ( and ice coffee) i've ever had a block away. I highly recommend you try fraps for 35 baht. every attraction in chiang rai is spaced apart. If you want to see it all for a reasonable price, rent a car. I believe chiang rai is one of the easiest cities to drive in. very sane traffic, people stay inside lanes, and lots of signage. otherwise best bet is a tour for 1000 bahtper person. we origionally tried seeing all attractions with busses and grab ta xi...wasnt worth it. "Really good price hotel. First, the price is low. The room is big enough and clean, even in the bathroom there were some little ant just as normal. The staff were great, even English were not really good, but was fair the communicate. They were very helpful and show me they really using the heart to serve me. Hotel is providing simple breakfast such as fried rice, bread, sausage and ham, good taste. Although the swimming pool is not big, that is enough for swimming. Only one thing the guest need to have caution is the location is not easy to find. If u drive yourself please be careful the google map gps may guide you a wrong way. But the road nearby the hotel, there are many signs of this hotel, u should take awareness. Overall, the hotel is very very good, I will go here again the next time in Chiang Rai."

"I really enjoyed my stay here. It was very quiet, the surrounding area is very beautiful, my room was awesome, and I was able to immerse myself in total quiet and relaxation. I felt tucked away from the the rest of the world. Upon check in, was upgraded to a room with a big tub on the balcony, which was awesome. I enjoyed hiking everyday and lounging by the quiet pool while staring at the mountains. I did not leave the resort for 4 days. This hotel is not a place to stay if you want to explore the towns nearby or use as a landing point for sightseeing. The hotel is about 45 minutes north of Chiang Rai and the hotel charges 300 baht just to take you into Mae Sai, and 1000 baht if you want to go to Chiang Rai. Only come here if you just want to relax and chill. To get back to Chiang Rai, I paid the hotel 300 baht to take me into Mae Sai and then I paid 20 baht to ride the bus to Chiang Rai. If you are coming from Chiang Rai, and you get a taxi to bring you to the hotel, (mine charged 400 baht), get your taxi driver's number so he can pick you up and bring you back to Chiang Rai when you leave."
