a bit boring”

OK folks, what you need to know about Rayong is that it is a very well spread out general area and the songtel/taxis are quite infrequent and regular taxis don't use a meter like in Bangkok. The Rayong Chalet Resort is away along the beach, about 35 kms from Rayong and 25 from Banphe. Banphe and the island Koh Samet are regarded as part of Rayong. The hotel is pleasant enough but there is only a couple of other places nearby and it is very quiet at night. The TV had no international channels, I managed to retune it and find BBC and ESPN but poor reception. The seaview room we got was quite spacious but the bathroom was ridiculously small, the designer could easily have given the bathroom another 1/2 metre and made all the difference. And yes indeed the groutwork on the bathroom tiles could certainly do with a serious going over with good mould killer. It was very nice swimming in the sea here but even away out in the boonies there was still rubbish on the sand and in the water, a problem Thailand does not deal with at all well. Breakfast and the restaurant were adequate. The staff were fine. In closing I would say that the Rayong Chalet suffers from the popularity of Koh Samed because that's where all the tourists are and it is miles away. We had 3 nights here and it was a pleasant change from Bangkok but I think 2 nights would have sufficed. I doubt if I'll be back. Frank and Yingluck from NZ and Thai

Superb hotel, great location and facilities”

this was an excellent hotel, great swimming pool, fabulous beach and sea. no complaints at all about the hotel - fully recommend, but the price we paid through agoda was over 30% higher than when we booked an extended stay direct. also, the agoda map showed it to be about 1 km from banphae - we were going to walk until a local advised it was much further. it is actually about 12 km, so be warned.

Peaceful Resort”

Visited for a weekend getaway. Peaceful resort accessed by speed boat in 15 minutes. Very peaceful resort with a party scene a short walk away.

It's ok.”

There are only 2 beach front chalets but the resort put another three in the second row to the beach into this category. You might find booking a beach front chalet but not get what you want as I did.

Hotel has a good location with private beach”

we went there as a group of friends. the staff was very friendly at reception. the room was old but well keep up. they could use a face lift. big nice room with sea view. good value for money. it's more gear to thai tourist and seminar group. breakfast is more of thai style and not much choice at all. all over all we will stay there again next time we go to rayong

Cheap but nice resort!”

We stayed at the resort for 3 nights.The hotel is right on the beach but the location is very quiet. It was only we and mayby 2 or 3 Couples more on the hotel which almost made it a bit spooky. However was the room tidy, the pool nice and so on...

right on the beach ”

We just stayed a night for a stop-over and it was very pleasant as the resort was quite empty. But in the W.E, since I used to live next door, I know that when there groups it may be noisy with the music bands playing loudly until 10 p.m. The rooms are a bit old but very pleasant as wide and spacious with beautiful sea and beach view. Bathrooms are old and need refurbishing, but they were clean.

Sufficient for short stay”

The chalet rooms are clearly older and basic, but sufficiently clean and reasonably priced for the location right on the water. It's a nice beach and the food is decent. It worked well for a one night trip from bkk with our own car.

Great beach location, but too far from Ban Phe”

Nice to be at the beach but difficult to get into Ban Phe (not much transport, though the hotel helped on one occasion with a lift in their vehicle going that way). We were staying at the hotel when the staff had their annual party, and were invited to participate, with free food and beer :-) Very friendly. Breakfast is basic American (ham & eggs, toast, tea/coffee and fruit) but adequate and was included in tariff. No safety box in the room, though this is available at reception.

so relaxing trip”

During the new year, they have arranged fireworks and new year party. The staff are very helpful. For a reasonable price, this is really a recommended accomodation.

Great location, less tourist”

need building and lighting renovate Easy to go, not far away from downtown. Very Calmful beach, crytal clear water and white sand. Best place for Honeymoon or whole family, water sport, sun bath, relaxing rest of the day. Good fresh sea food restuerant or local bbQ seafood arround. Yes Yes Yes it's reasonable price and test good too

ocean view, good pool, lack of guests”

The ocean view from balcony was lovely, breakfast was fair, and pool quite good with a deep end. There appeared to be very few other guests. We stayed 1 night, however, because upon check-in the hotel requested we pay extra for the room on top of the Agoda rate. We contacted Agoda support; but the additional fee was eventually waved upon checkout after some haggling in Thai. On the down side, there was no duvet on the bed to keep you warm at night; the phone in the room did not work; there was no wifi on the floor; the room aircon was good not quiet; the sheets could have been cleaner, no face towels, and room cleaning appeared patchy.

Lovely location but fairly quiet”

Beach was really nice, good breakfast. Booked for double bed and got a room with two singles - not ideal. Shower wasn't very hot, otherwise really happy

It will be better if facilities are complete ”

Room is ok. But the facilities are not ok. No telephone No tissue box No liquid soap No menu or catalogue about resort. Valve of bathtub and sink valve are not fixed. Receptionist is ok. She is friendly.

Very nice hotel on the beach”

i liked the hotel and the calm atmosfare. the beach is just beautyful.

Garden chalet stay”

The garden chalet we stayed in was like so old and the price we paid was outrageous. Don't know what the what other rooms were like but the chalet were way overpriced. The hotel was not even even full.

Near good thai restaurant”

Had one night here a little too expensive later on we stayed at VBang Bai resort much cheaper and a whole bungalow and yard too use

reasonable price for the hotel at the sea shore in a quiet place”

some negative points: (1) breakfast is poor, (2) no wifi in the room at the 6th floor, (3) speed boats of the neighbouring hotel spoil enjoying the sea.
