Low cost, High quality and Great to stay”

        Prices, Services and Location

We stayed here 2 rooms for 2 nights and payed total amount only 1,200 bht. We got a little bungalow with a double bed, complimentary water and a fan, share extremely clean bathroom with hot shower. The location is walkable distance to town, around 15 minutes. The owner are very helpful, they provided us all the recommended places to go on a map when we checked in and were very friendly over the whole stay. Moreover, If you interested on Mae Hong Son by One Day Trip (price is around 700 bht.) and contact via the owner, you will receive a discount. I recommended that Rainbow house is great for anyone, especially backpacker.

        Kind Owners”

The owners were very friendly & kind. This is the only place we have stayed where they consistently called us by name every day. They also very kindly dropped us to the bus station on our departure.

Overall our stay was satisfactory. The best thing was definitely the lovely owners. It turned out the property was a little far from town for us (best part of a kilometre). It wasn't that it was too far to walk, it was a horrible walk along an insanely busy road with no shoulder to get off the road safely. Don't believe any of the reports that Pai is laid back & sleepy, it is mental with tourists. There are hundreds of inexperienced tourists speeding around on hired mopeds (sometimes on the wrong side of the road). We saw accidents. The crush at the night market was unexpected too. The wifi at Rainbow house is really slow unfortunately. We had to go in town to a coffee shop to book flights etc. You need to be ok with the Asian style manual toilet flush (with a ladel) if you select a standard cottage. The shower is the standard in this price range (only lukewarm & very very low pressure). There aren't any laundry facilities, you need to take your washing in to town, we used a cheap self service place (30 baht), then brought it back & hung it out at Rainbow House. It was convenient to be able to make tea & coffee (hot water 5 baht per cup), & store our milk in the communal fridge.

        Serenity, peaceful, beautiful”

The view, the hammock outside my window, the beautiful location

Rainbow house was an excellent place to say. A short five-ten minute walk out from town (which is really a beautiful stroll!), the room is clean with a lovely outlook. The only issue would be the bathroom - you have got to walk outdoors to get there, and isn't super clean due to the mud walked in. But I suppose that's what you expect in Asia. If you can deal with a couple of bugs around the hotel (didn't find any in the room) you will love this place. So worth the amount I paid

friendly guesthouse owner, away from downtown”

terrific guesthouse owner, quite and beautiful place to chill out, not far away from downtown

The owner of rainbow house is a lovely couple, Sai and Noi, they've been very helpful and friendly to me since the first day I checked in; kindly showed me the way to every spot and always willing to help the guests here. They can speak good English, so the communication won't be a problem at all. The guesthouse itself is quite beautiful and a little bit far away from the downtown. But if you rent a scooter here, it only takes about 5 min to downtown; it's also quite safe to walk from downtown to rainbow house, around 10-15 min walking distance. If you're looking for a place to stay with a bargain price and at the same time still want to have some quietness in Pai, here's a place I highly recommend!

Quiet place, best value for money for Bungalow with Private Bath”

We stayed for a week ( Yes we got stick in the Pai-Hole) after re-booking two nights more, than two nights again.. 7 days later this is the best value for your money. We stayed in guesthouse #2 (private bathroom). There is a double bed and a fan along with three locking windows. The location was ideal for us (two 30's something Americans) because it is about a half mile out of the town's main bar street. Just far enough from the bass, yet close enough to walk back and forth two or three times a day without feeling too far. We enjoyed the community on the east side of the river hidden from the bar scene. There is a cheap place with a swimming pool named Fluid (80 baht) right around the corner, Close to the White Buddha, vegan cafe Earth Tone, as well as two locations close by to purchase "Happy off menu Products" at Backpacker's Paradise and Sunset Bar. The rooms are basic, as one would expect from a bungalow, the only con is that the bed was extremely squeeky with age-old spring rigging that made moving around a bit loud for my partner and probably folks in the next bungalow over. Thankfully our neighbors were quiet accept for the last two nights when some younger, louder folks decided to stay up and be loud/obnoxious. If you are looking to meet people, stay at Backpacker's Paradise. The hot water functions only at lower pressure, it is a 10 year old water heating element, so there's lower the pressure, the longer the water stays in the element and hotter it will become. Most people have it on full blast and complain that the water heater doesn't work, well, that's because the water isn't in the heater long enough.. a fine balance between pressure and temp and you'll figure it out. The host, Noi and his wife keep there facility super clean and live in their awesome private house. As a previous review suggests, it feels a bit looked living in a Smurf Village - which is true and awesome. Each bungalow has a covered hammock outside. They sell cheap beers, water,

        Stay here!”

        Owners, Location, Atmosphere

We stayed 4 nights at Rainbow Guesthouse in July/August and all loved it. The location was great, it was very chilled out & the best thing about it was Noi and his wife; they were brilliant and couldn't have been more accommodating. One of our friends fell off their moped whilst we were there and Noi and his wife rushed out to help them. Would certainly stay there again if back in Pai at any point. Only downside is that there is no air conditioning but it is worth being a little bit hot for a few days to stay here :)

Super cute spot and walking distance from town!”

I loved my stay at Rainbow House! The room felt clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms are outdoors so don't expect them to be anything fancy, but they do the job. I didn't have much interaction with the staff so I can't say much about them but I had everything I needed and felt well taken care of. Short walk into town too!

Very nice and helpful owner but not perfect locati”

        Service, very friendly owner

The bamboo huts were nothing special, bamboo huts like every other bamboo hut. But the service was outstanding, very friendly and helpful owner. I deduct one star for the mosquito net which is absolutely essential at this location. The provided net was too small for the bed and had many big holes (several centimeter diameter). We used our own mosquito net. The location of the rainbow house isn't perfect, thats why I deduct another star. It's not only outside the city. Also you have to walk along a street with heavy traffic which is dangerous in the dark. It's very difficult or even impossible to get a tuktuk or pickup. So you can only rent a scooter which was 200baht/day minimum in December or you have to walk with your luggage. Also it was a littlebit noisy from the street. We stayed only one night and moved to another place behind the bamboo bridge (the area where is also "Cozy Pai". This area was full of bamboo hut resorts at similar prices. It's nice to walk and close to the city. Therefore we recommend to look for something in this area. Ask for the way to "Cozy Pai" and you will pass the huts. Choose the hit you like, depending on price and your preferences (eg private bathroom, sunny private terrace, ...)

Best bungalow value for money, sweet spot location.”

        Lovely guest house! Wonderful staff!”

        Location, staff, price and rooms!

We are travelling around and pre booked this guest house and it was the best one we stayed at in Pai. The location is a bit further out from the town but not too far if you don't mind a walk. Rooms we're clean, the guesthouse was welcoming, free fruit and the price was great! I would definitely come here again.

        Yearlong Honeymooners”

        Comfort, location, spacious

Our stay was excellent. We originally booked for two night, but extended to four. It is located about 1/2 mile (1 km) away from the main walking street, so it was nice to be away from the noise, and the surrounding fields and gardens are just idyllic. The bungalow was clean, spacious and comfortable. I would absolutely return to Rainbow House!

Nice stay in a serene landscape”

nice surroundings, very fast internet, cheap

I was in Pai for about two days and it was a really pleasant stay. The bungalows are clean, neat and cheap. The internet is among the fastest I've seen in Thailand and the hosts are really nice. Even the shared bathroom is well kept and the quiet surroundings help you relax after a day of hiking and sightseeing. Even though it's a 12 mins walk from the center of the town, this does help, especially if you wanna get a good night sleep - the Center of Pai is a party place. Totally recommended!

        adorable”

cute little bungalows in a nice area, easy 10 minute walk to town center, (renting a scooter in pai is the best! "vespai" is the company to get one from for sure!) super nice couple run these bungalows and are always around to help out, if you have any questions or anything. It's just a sweet little place, beds are uncomfortable as most places in Southeast Asia so far but still had an amazing sleep there, couldn't wake up early for the life of me because the place was just so cozy , and the fan was totally enough AC not needed. Would stay here again for sure!

        It was nice choice”

        Garden view, silent, good staff

When I stayed in Rainbow house, there was a reggae party. So it was a bit noisy, but almost everything was good. Shared bathroom can be a defect. If you want a cheap and cozy house, it is. If you have much money, Oia village in front of Rainbow house is good, too.

A nice place about 10 minutes walk from the main part of Pai. Very friendly owners”

A nice place about 10 minutes walk from the main part of Pai. Very friendly owners. They have a fridge at reception which sells water etc and cheap beer. A large Chang is only 65 Baht. I had a budget single room. The room was clean but looking a little worn. There are 3 power sockets. The fan works well and that's all you should need in Pai most of the year. Pai is cooler than Chiang Mai by about 5 or 6C. The shower had warm water. There's a desk and a stool inside. You can sit outside your own bungalow but there's also a stone table with chairs too in the garden. The place was quiet and the owners request that you make no loud noises after 9:30pm which is a definite plus. Hint : as with any places on the riverside of Pai, if you return home at night, make sure you have a torch or are wearing white as there's no pavement so it's a good idea to be visible but it's a nice easy walk. The wifi works well. I would have stayed a 2nd night but they were full.
