wonderful hotel”
This hotel is in Rotorua , we live in room 42 .When we went inside , the first feeling has given us is warm , because it likes a real home in Newzeland , there are 2 bedrooms for the kids and the adults ,also it has a clean washroom which makes us feel really comfortable . Besides , the services is really good , they help us to clean the bedroom regularly , that let us to sleep in a clean place . The restaurant of the hotel is also fantastic , the waiters are really polite , the food is delicious , actually I do not like eating the West food but I still like the food that the restaurant has provided . So I really recommend you guys to choose the Princes Gate Hotel if you go for a trip to Rotorua.

style and class”
I have stayed at the Princes Gate hotel twice now. I go to Rotorua because I because I want to stay there. I love the style of the old place...very Downton Abbey. The service and attentiveness of the staff is second to none from the moment you are greeted at the door. Enjoy the experience of the hotel then enjoy Rotorua

Excellent in everything”
Location is just within 3-min walk from i-SITE, so convenient for guests taking bus to Rotorua and so close to the Government Garden. Staff are so friendly and helpful, the light in the toilet broken down at night and it was changed even faster than i reported as i went out for a tour early in the morning. Facilities are sufficient enough, providing sauna and private pool for family members to enjoy privately and happily. Just a little suggestion of providing hangers in bedrooms and toilet. I will absolutely recommend this hotel to my friends when they visit Rotorua.

Good value hotel”
Princes Gate hotel us ideally situated next to the Government Gardens in Rotorua. We booked the cheapest double on offer and whilstvthe room was small, the size is mentioned on the website, so it is what we expected. The shower room appeared to have been newly refurbished and was very nice. We were warned not to open the bedroom windows at night because of insects so we got extremely hot overnight (the room did not have air conditioning) and it may have been that or the soft mattress, but I didn't get a good nights sleep! We were told that there are plans to install air conditioning. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent. I had the salmon and a chocolate mille feuille and my husband had pork. There is a reasonable wine list. The staff are very helpful and well organised. The hotel communal areas are in the process of being redecorated with new wallpaper and carpets, when the bedroom we were in has air conditioning, I think it will fe worth its 4 stars

This fine establishment is superb.”
This hotel is a grand monument to what living would have been possibly like in the good old days, when service, decorum and style meant so much, sadly a rarity nowadays and thus difficult to find. The dinner and show, replete with delightful repasts and most entertaining performers, were a delight and, coupled with the beautiful accommodation, were the only reasons why we took time to go back to Rotorua. We did not rue the enrgies, efforts and considerable monies expended.

Charming boutique hotel”
Like the old feel of the room and the hotel. Very professional and friendly front office and lovely restaurant on-site. The standard room was a bit small to my liking, anyway most of the time in Rotorua you spend outdoors either sightseeing, adventure seeking, eating our or relaxing in the hot springs! Hope to come back with my family in a few years.

Great location”
I am all about location - this hotel is a block away from the bus stop, the informative I tourist help center, the Rotorua Museum, and moments away from the lake. The only negative which wouldn't have happened if I didn't make 2 separate Agoda bookings was that both the housekeeper and plumber didn't get the memo I had extended my stay and both walked in on me as I was trying to get ready for the day. I was bummed too that thre was no wifi option.

Lovely Old Hotel”
Really beautiful colonial style hotel, located across the road from the old government building in the center of Rotorua. The hotel has a great bar but is also just a few minutes walk from a number of other places to eat and drink.

We loved our stay ”
In my 5 days trip in north island, this hotel was the best for me. Good location in Rotorua . The hotel a bit old but everything still keep very nice, like stepping back in time. The best thing is they have outdoor hot pool! After long driving trip, that make us so relax. The breakfast food and coffee was beautiful!

Charming suite, in-house hot pools are a bonus!”
Booked a 2 night stay here - the suite has maintained many turn-of-the-century details but doesn't feel dated. The in-house geothermal pools are a bonus, and you won't have to make a trip to the spas! It's centrally located, but just off the busy restaurant strip, if you're looking for a quiet but well-located part of town. The lounge area of the suite has air-conditioning put in, but not the bedroom, which wasn't a problem as the nights we were in Rotorua were relatively cool.

This lovely old hotel has improved vastly”
This old beauty had improved vastly since the new owners took over, but it is a big job and there is still a fair bit of work to be done. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic, but proved to be poorly informed eg regarding the poor SKY Sport channel reception (told me there were 'only 3 channels here'). I understand that replacement of beds is in process and the historic building is a priority, but the bed I had was just too spongey and soft to get a decent night's sleep. And the big bouncey pillows were terrible. Otherwise the linen was nice and fresh, and the one bedroom apartments, elderly as they are, were a great deal. We've been going to Rotorua annually for 18 years. For a time we stopped using this hotel because it was too expensive and uncomfortable. I am happy to see that it is being returned to form.

Outstanding”
I was visiting Rotorua with a motorcycle buddy. We stayed in a two bedroom suite located right next to the hot pools. The quality of the furnishings, lovely artwork on the walls and the generally very high standard of accommodation ensured a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Yesteryear Elegance”
My husband and I love to spend weekends away every couple of months. Once we find a hotel we like, we tend to stay there on a regular basis, so it was lovely to find The Princes Gate Hotel. However we found the "Classic Room" far too small but we upgraded to an "Estate Room" which was spacious and lovely. The staff were accommodating and the furnishings and decor stunning from a bygone error. The hotel's three thermal pools were great and we enjoyed our daily soak as well as being able to sit on the balcony with an antipasto platter and a glass of wine. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back

Fine Stay for Families ”
This hotel is really close to public transport and many of the common places that people visit (such as Polynesian Spa), making it easy for us to get around Rotorua. The staff were also very helpful and were able to resolve all of our enquiries.

Great history splendid old school hotel a real experience creaking wooden floors and not very sound proofed rooms. There are better hotels in Rotorua but this is a must try experience.

Fantastic heritage building”
We had a fantastic stay at the Princes Gate. yes, the hotel is old but that adds to the charme - please do not expect a 5 start modern Holiday Inn without character. If you like character, you will like this hotel. Room was clean and spacious and the free hot pools behind the house are a nice thing to have. We were on the upper floor and had table and chairs outside, sitting in the sun enjoying a drink.
