Great budget hotel near Gubeng Station”

This is our first time stayed at Pop! Hotel Gubeng Surabaya, but we had a great memory while stayed at Pop! Hotel Kuta Beach on last February. What I like the most about Pop! Hotel is that they can accommodate 3 (three) persons, for the breakfast too! Its location is near Gubeng Station, you only need about 5 minutes drive to get there. To Galaxy Mall or Tunjungan Plaza only takes 15 minutes drive. They provide buffet breakfast, it's better than in Bali. But our room AC didn't work well, it was not too cold even we're set on lowest degree and leaked :( The swimming pool is great, it's located in the same place with Harris Hotel, so we need to go to Harris lobby and show the swimming coupon (valid for two persons per room) but we need to pay for the towels :(

Good Value Hotel”

I traveled to Surabaya in December 2015, and book this hotel via Agoda. Actually, it has good value, precisely. It was clean hotel with casual design. Located in really city's center, friendly staff,very good transportation access, and professional performance. However, I expect more from this budget hotel, like food (precisely average-good) and bathroom (simple but a bit bad smell inside bathroom and closet). The room was small. But this hotel is much better than other hotels that has roughly same price. Good Luck POP! Hotel Gubeng Surabaya!

5 times staying here already”

POP! Gubeng is my regular place whenever I am in Surabaya. Great price. All day free coffee and tea is appreciated very much. Convenient mini mart and ATMs right inside the hotel lobby means no need to leave the hotel to get drinks or snacks. (sometimes other hotels have mini mart nearby but when it is raining it is inconvenient to go out). Good job POP! keep it up!

Great & clean budget hotel with great staff.”

I chose Pop! Hotel Gubeng as it is near to Gubeng Train Station. Sadly their first free morning shuttle to Gubeng Train Station is 9am. My train left much earlier so I took a Grab car to the station for IDR12,000. Love the minimal concept. Room was spacious & well designed. Delicious warm Javanese & Chinese breakfast buffet with bread & spreads & fresh cut watermelon & honeydew. Breakfast starts at 6am eventhough it is stated as 7am in the cafe. Walk-in/additional breakfast is really worth it at IDR30,000 per person. Opt for the room with 2 free breakfasts. There is a daybed in the rooms so the rooms fit 3 people. An additional blanket is free. An additional pillow is IDR20,000.

Second Time Visit in 2016”

This is my second time staying at POP! Gubeng Surabaya. My first stay was in January 2016. now I am back in October 2016. I didn't hesitate to go back to POP! because the staff are friendly to the max and have a positive, upbeat attitude to their work. The price is really hard to beat. I like it that they offer free coffee and tea from after lunch up to mid-night. I drank lots of coffee and tea!!! I'll be back.

Wear and Tear is obvious”

I first stayed at POP! Gubeng back in 2015 and was very impressed with this hotel and wrote a fave review. However, as this very popular hotel has seen heavy traffic and as normal practice for hotel industry, 3 years is about time to replace many things that see heavy usage. It is obvious that the wear and tear has taken its toll and I am sad to report an unpleasant experience of having heavy water leaking from the overhead aircon onto the area near my bed. I was awoken by water splashing on my face. The technician was called in and they cleared what seem like a choke by manually blowing into the drainage pipe. POP! it is time for a major refurbishment.

CLEAN ! Good Value, Free Shuttle service”

POP ! Hotel is NEW, about 5 mo old now (Aug '15) --so everything is still crisp and clean ! The staff is quite well-trained, and this applies to all phases: Reception (check in +out services), Housekeeping, Maintenance, car valet, Services Management -- I have either used these services directly, or have seen them in operation -- indeed, these young folk have been well-trained ! The bed is comfy, complete with new+clean cotton bed linens and towels, and round sleeping bolster. The AC works quite well (the maintenance person came quickly, with tools and step-ladder, to inspect and rinse the air filters, for better performance), the flat screen TV is great, with many satellite channels to choose. The colorful and clever room decor +design includes a self-contained 'cabinet' for the toilet and shower--with a strong supply of hot water : ) When the toilet water was running, the maintenance person responded quickly, and directly knew exactly how to adjust the water flow. The 'Morning Bites' is the free breakfast service, until 9:30 am (be prompt !). The choices change daily, always offering fresh fruit, cereal +milk, chicken, rice, some style of vegetables, rice porridge, and Mie Keriting (must present the food chit given at check-in), infused water, coffee, tea. Hot+cold water is always available (can fill small water bottles from the dispenser !). There is a free shuttle service which has stops at Gubeng station, as well as 3 or 4 large malls --this is by request only. Parking is available. Taxi service is also available, of course. Harris Hotel is next door, and offers access to,their gym and swimming pool for a fee. I definitely recommend POP ! Hotel for fellow travelers !

Very nice stay”

We had an excellent stay at Pop Hotel Gubeng while overnighting between Yogyakarta and Banyuwangi. The room was very clean and comfortable. Close to the train station (10,000 IDR for a taxi) and several restaurant choices in the area. We were surprised at how great the breakfast was. Plenty to choose from (rice, vegetables, noodles, cereal, toast, fruit and more) and its buffet style so you can select your own portion size. The staff was great and very welcoming. Would stay here again.

Worth the price”

Pertama kali booking POP Hotel, ternyata tidak seburuk yg dipikirkan. Walaupun kamar hotel kecil tetapi tetap nyaman untuk beristirahat. Untuk harga yang sangat murah, sarapan cukup baik dan room amenities cukup lengkap. Kamar cukup bersih. Di POP Hotel Gubeng ini bahkan tamu bisa menggunakan fasilitas pool di Harris Hotel sebelahnya. Kl butuh budget hotel, pasti akan kembali kesini.

Dengan harga sangat terjangkau, 280rban (agoda), bisa menikmati kolam renang @Harris Hotel tanpa dikenakan biaya tambahan.. Breakfast dan jatah sarapan dapat untuk 3 orang.. New Clean, Modern Budget Hotel”

We had a great time! We came in by train via Stasiun Gubeng, so the location is quite convenient. The staff were super friendly and despite being very new, everything seemed quite functional. The room was clean and had an interesting view over the city to the east. The breakfast is Indonesian food and had more choice than other Pop! hotels that we've stayed at.

Nice Enough”

A good place to stay if you want a lil escape of the crowd because its not on the main street. Dont get me wrong, it may not in the main street but it doesnt mean it is far from city. If you want some cracker then you only need to go to convenience store across receptionist. if you cant find what you want there then you just need to walk around 50m then you'll find another convenience store. If you want to look for another neccesities or present, you can go to elizabeth ( around 30 m away ) or plaza surabaya ( around 150 m ). If you feel like sick and need to see a doctor then theres also a Siloam Hospital near the facility. The staff is super friendly and helping with your complain. The room is so clean and neat. So does the bathroom. The only unfortunate thing is the wall between rooms seems to be quite thin so you can hear almost everything happen at the next room especially if they make a loud noises. Which, made me cant sleep a wink at night. Dont forget to bring your own toiletries because they dont provide anything but a lil soap and a sachet of of shampoo.

Nice hotel and good price”

I think hotel should have 24 hours kitchen . In room menu last time to order food is 23:30 night . During my stay there 4 night .. when i order food before that time , room service always said Closed or No more food . Then order go to harris hotel that the food prices very expensived . I suspect that the hotel did deliberate ordering food through harris hotel. if true like that then pop hotel management do things that hurt the hotel guests because the hotel food menus and menu pop-cost hotels harris cost 200 percent more expensive.

Best budget hotel in town”

This hotel is always my choice every time I go to Surabaya. Please fix the rubber at the tip of the bathroom door in room 1558. Please make it faster to refill the breakfast menu, it took 20 minutes, I had to wait so long for breakfast. Other than that, this hotel worth every penny.

Nice, clean, cheap”

This location is pretty clean and about what you'd expect from a hotel (especially compared to the dirty POP! hotel in Denpasar). Breakfast buffet was decent but not particularly delicious. Their restaurant wasn't actually open at night though the hours stated it would be, however we went to the Harris hotel's restaurant right next door and it was great. The location was farther from Gubeng station than I thought. I thought it'd be a <10min walk but it was far enough that we had to take a becek, especially unwalkable with luggage. The hotel is close to some malls though which is nice (taxi'd there for 10k-20k). Note that you'll need 30k rupiah for a deposit for the card key when you check in (you get it back after you check out).

Recommended budget hotel at the heart of the city of Surabaya. Clean room and friendly staff. We got our packed breakfast for early check-out in the morning.

Have to fight to get noodles for breakfast ”

We didn't expect much of breakfast, since it been included in price of staying, but reality was worst than we could imagine. Over crowded, not much options, and have to sign your room number for the line to get fried noodles. After waiting for our food for twenty minutes I realized that nobody follow the line, everybody was fighting and pushing each other to grab a bowl with noodles, no staff was there to organize the order. I don't mind to pay for my breakfast and enjoy it as it was a week ago on our stay in Harris Surabaya. They should give us an option to pay for breakfast or get free snacks. So we end up having a coffee at the airport. And AC in our room was way too hot, even tough we had it set all the way to the cold, 16'C, still was too hot to sleep.
