We were very happy with the Poenamo Hotel. Arrived on a hot afternoon and were looking forward to a refreshing dip in the pool - shame it wasn't very clean though. It is is in a great setting for families.

Good value on the North Shore”

Poenamo Hotel is well equipped and good value. However some of the other guests were pretty noisy and rude, so staff should try to sort that out.

Great Location”

If you're wanting to stay somewhere on the North Shore while visiting Auckland this is a great location. Facilities are a little worn and shabby but very clean and tidy.

Quiet and clean with lovely staff”

I am used to being woken up by other hotel guests banging doors and talking outside windows - at this hotel, there wasn't a peep! This despite the fact that we were close to the Backyard Bar. Comfy bed, clean sheets, nice room temperature (there was a heat pump), good water pressure even on the second floor. It took awhile to find the 'kitchen', which was in a cupboard, but for a one-night stay the room had everything we needed. The reception staff were particularly warm and lovely. The pool isn't fancy (or heated!), but was a nice size, and the spa was lovely. Nice playground for kids as well. I was really impressed with this hotel.

Close by to the beautiful Lake Pupuke and Takapuna beach. Food places are in walking distance. Cutlery, kettle, extra blanket, plenty warm drink sachet provided. Staff were very kind. Free parking. Close by to motorway, so it’s easy to spot the hotel. Tv and air conditioning provided. Quiet. Homely. Overall, perfect for price.

The Poe”

Ideally located for my requirements - midway between Albany and Auckland and very close to Takapuna. A good selection of restaurants and bars in the complex. The staff is always extremely helpful when I need things done - printing documents, changing length of stay, etc, etc. If you're not after four and a half/five star accommodation and want to avoid CBD rates, the Poe is the place to go.

Quick stay”

We booked here as we had a family birthday to attend. We were pleasantly surprised with the room, the location and the amenities on offer. The pool is a big draw card and there are numerous bars and eating places within the hotel location and nearby. Garage, liquor store etc also just up the road. Was perfect for what we needed. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will be back if we ever need accommodation in this area again.

A week near Auckland”

The poenamo is good jumping of spot for Takapuna and environs. Excellent bus accss, one change to get into the city.

Close to Auckland Harbour Bridge. Older style building. Very friendly service. Basic clean and tidy room with modern bathroom. With the new tunnel, it was a quick and easy trip to airport. Will stay there again.

With a couple of nights to spend on the North Shore, "The Po" was suitable for our needs, being close to the motorway, and easy to find. It was clean and had the basic facilities we needed. Unfortunately, the weather was too cold to use the swimming pool.

Convenient and roomy at a good price ”

Stsyed three nights for course. Airy and spacious -reading lights, tea and coffee making , , some crockery and cutlery but no dishwashing liquid or microwave which would have been helpful for longer stay. Tv and aircon great Restaurants x 5 onsite which was great as it’s a long walk to facilities With no car but also made my particular room very noisy as it backed onto the kitchen and rubbish areas and the fans going most of evening. Lovely to have s bath and comfy bed. Pool and spa and guest laundry available ( ask at reception for powder) Only issue with room was upstairs with no elevator so specify if u need downstairs when booking and pillows old and flat. Staff helpful with a variety of queries but note no reception after hours. Great value and facilities for longer stay. Hint - Book airport transport shuttle well in advance or pay a pricey cab ride. Also your room gets serviced every day ( new sheets and towels) which I and the planet didn’t need so cancelled

Lovely Staff”

we had a lovely time it was a short notice stay and the staff were very accommodation. we ordered continental breakfasts and they were delivered to our room. when asking for directions the reception staff were extremely helpful with directions and a map. thanks and i look forward to my next visit.

We went to Auckland with small kids in winter time and was looking for accomadation with a hot pool or spa or anything in which we could relax with our small children. And that is why we chose this hotel, when we got there on a cool winter day in August looking forward to let the kids enjoy some warm water......... THE SPA WAS OUT OF ORDER !!!!!!!! If this was updated on the website through which we booked, we would not have chosen this hotel. Very disappointed and disgusted!!!!!

Clean, spacious, good value and helpful staff, who supplied kitchenware on request. Handy location, especially fir take aways. We liked the spa. Pool would've been much nicer if it was heated! Didn't realise pool and environs were shared with restaurant guests, so not so good on Sunday, but nice and quiet during the week. Would stay again

We live local but stayed here for a break for the closeness of the bar and restaurants, pool, spa and playground as well as the big backyard where our 3 yr old could run around with her friends. The summer sessions was on while we were there which we loved, but it was very loud - DJ out on the deck just across from the motel, even though the room was as sound proofed as possible it couldn't cut it all out. Room wasn't flash but was adequate, and staff were lovely, very friendly. I can imagine in summer that the lack of aircon could be a problem, we had our door open and fan on most of the time. Wouldn't come here if expecting a luxuary room, but if you want to hang out by the pool with a beer this place is ideal. Need to drive 5-10 minutes to a cafe if you want a decent breakfast. Bushmans grill nearby was great also (especially for kids).
