      Convenient to Historical Park ”

We stayed at Pinpao for several nights and found it to be a convenient hotel with many restaurants within walking distance (10-15 minutes) and to the entrance of the historical park an additional 5-7 minutes walk. Breakfast was good with fresh honeycomb from the mountains, eggs made to order, and fresh fruit. Our room was clean, though the bed was a little more firm than we're used to, but all in all a good room with no bugs or plenty of hot water and excellent pressure from the shower. Also, good fluffy towels folded into shapes of elephants which was a nice touch. We used the pool as well and what a refreshing experience after riding our bikes all day in the hot sun at the historical park. There are many loungers next to the pool and you are invited to take a cold drink with you. They have an honor system for buying cold drinks in the lobby where you take what you want from the cooler and write it down with your room number on a sheet of paper on the reception desk. It was great.

Stay for the location, not the service”

close to historical park, nice pool, great breakfast

Our bus was late so we didn't check in until 8pm; really worried that we couldn't check in, but it wasn't a problem. Staff checked us in, but forgot to give us our key. In Thailand you expect great service and friendly people, but for some reason that is missing from Pinpao. Most of the time the front desk wasn't even attended, so don't know what we would've done if we needed help. The only person I really saw was the lady that made breakfast (and also checked us out in between making eggs!) It's a great location, which all of the songtaew drivers know at the bus station. It's an easy walk (15 mins) down the street to the historical park. There's also a cute restaurant (Coffee House) diagonally across the street. The pool was well-maintained and breakfast was tasty (Thai coconut dumpling, toast, eggs, coffee). My biggest pet peeve was that there was no hair dryer in the room (and none in the hotel at all!) The rooms come with everything else, but it gets cold at night and you want to have dry hair when you sleep; having hair dryers isn't a big investment. As long as you bring your own hairdryer and are ok with indifferent service (especially by Thai standards) than this is a good choice for the price.

      Old Sukhothai Adventure”

      Cleanliness, Friendliness, Location

Pinpao is run by an extremely friendly woman who takes great care to ensure that the rooms are clean and fastidiously made up each day. Breakfast is served each morning and while I was there included local honey in the comb on each table. There is a pool in the back, reachable by a very rickety wooden bridge over the canal that definitely needs some fixing - a little scary to cross actually. The pics make it seem as though the rooms are right next to the pool, they are not - but no big deal. Wish there was more food available for snacks, lunch, etc. Most other guesthouses in the area do have better food service. It is a good value for the money and is right on the main road to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, perhaps a 10-15 minute walk away. For what it is, a basic clean guest house with a pool and breakfast, I give PinPao 7/10.

      Good Value and Perfectly Adequate”

Great pool area and very helpful staff

while it will never be mistaken for the four seasons, pinpao works well as a good value and was ideal for our first experience in a thai guest house. your stay should include breakfast because the restaurants are a 10minute walk away. the pool was a delight. very clean and located in a quiet area behind the guest house. mae was very helpful with all of our questions and helped arrange transport back to the train station in phitsulak. there is a 10 minute walk to the park. rent the bikes from or bike rental and you can pedal back to the guest house...they will pick up the bikes the next day.

      Lovely guesthouse”

nice swimming pool for the relax after the biking day in Sukhothai :-)

The guesthouse is very close to the Historical park of Sukhothai, where you can easily rent a bike and ride around the temples and ruins. First night we were the only guests in the guesthouse. But everything was perfect. The room we had was on the first floor without the window, but it was ok, because we just slept in the room. After the day in Sukhothai we spend the time in a pool, the garden is just beautiful. The restaurant are also very close. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse.

      Great Location”

      great location, lovely pool

i wanted a hotel near to the historical park and this guesthouse was perfect. the park is about a 10 minutes walk away from the guest house and is a great base to explore the area from. the swimming pool area was great after a hard days cycling around, was lovely to relax and cool down in after the day. the rooms are very clean and tidy as is the whole property. there are only about 10 rooms in the property, so you may get lucky and find you have the whole place to yourself. my only negative, is that the bed is hard, but dont let this put you off. i would def stay here again

      Interesting experience ”

Centrally located, good swimming pool, nice breakfast

Overall it was good. PInpao is located right to the historical part of Sukhotai and a bus company' office (with busses to to Bangkok and Chang Mai). Hotel manager was helpful and told us about all options and destinations according to our schedule. The good things are that they have a great pool (which is located in the backyard with an adorable wooden bridge over the ancient trench full of water lilies) and a small but nice breakfast (nescafe/tea + toasts + eggs + bananas + local rice pudding in a feaf + extra delicious honey served in cells). The bad things are that our room had a window with a corridor view, thin walls (so no privacy), cool water in a shower (it was very cold at night, so...). Anyways I can't recommend it for a really long stay, but it's ok for a 2-3 nights.

Good location, nice pool, home made breakfast”

The room is clean and spacious. The pool is very good. Location wise it is about 15 min walk to the HIstorical Park and the restaurants outside it.

May, the manager of the hotel is hardworking, thoughtful, friendly and attending to details (e.g. the towels are presented in the room as lotus flowers on the bed). The hotel is safe and peaceful too with other friendly visitors. It is close to the park and the restaurants area but the walk at night is not pleasant as there is no pavement, the cars/motorcycles will zoom beside you but if you are too close houses, the fierce dogs will bark at you. The food in those restaurants is not very good either. This hotel is particularly close to Wat Chang Lom (just 3 min walk with opposite direction from the park) and there is a beautiful rice field next to it. The Legendha Resort opposite to the wat is also worth visiting as it is like a beautiful garden with canals and occasional free demonstration of traditional cooking outside their restaurants.

      swimming pool, super relaxed environment

Pinpao was closed so we had to stay at the orchid hibiscus, which worked out fine, but I wish I had known that when I booked online. It was kind of a shock at 7 am to get to Pinpao and the driver tell us its closed and we had to go somewhere else. Also pinpao had free wifi, the other place didn't which was not a perk at all. Staff was friendly enough.

      Location

We liked staying at this small guesthouse located near the Sukhothai. Very convenient to the Historical Park. The operator was friendly and helpful. The garden and pool area was very nice for relaxation and swimming to escape the heat of the day. Breakfast was fine. The room was clean and a reasonable size. Our room was at the back and quiet. The Historical town has limited restaurant choices.

Perfect location to explore the ruins of Sukhothai”

Swimming pool, excellent hosts, cute bathroom

We loved Pinpao because it was easy to get into the main area of the Old City. We rented bikes and were able to keep them out front. The host sat us down and drew up an itinerary on a map of the Old City, so we were able to see the recommended ruins at the appropriate times (i.e. sunrise, sunset) which was awesome. The swimming pool was great to have in the midday heat. A simple breakfast was included and I'd do anything to have that homemade coconut pudding wrapped in a banana leaf with local tree honey and a banana on top again!

      A quality guest house

From the outside I thought just another guest house. What a surprise, this is a real gem.Everything felt 5 star. Sure the rooms are on the small side but the bed (slept 10 hours ) furnishings and bathroom brilliant. Cross the river on the wooden bridge and enter the swimming pool and garden area. Beautiful to relax there during the heat of the day. The breakfast was a culinary delight !

This reviews is for ORCHID HIBISCUS - same owner”

Quiet place to be, great gardens, and the on site owner has a flare for interating with his customers.

Originally booked in a sister hotel, PinPao, I chose to move to the ORCHID HIBISCUS, just down the street. Nice place, good staff. Two things for Paolo to fix: in this day and age, internet - Wi-Fi should be available at no additional cost given the price point of this property and secondly, the pool was green with algae. This is due to the seasonal rains in the area, but one of the big selling points is to have a clean fresh pool to enjoy after dealing with the hot humid weather in the area. Other than those two things, this place is a great place to park yourself for a number of days while enjoying the area. Good job Paolo!

Walk to old town for and be back early for a swim.”

Location was convenient for visiting the Sukhothai Historical Park. Common area was beautiful. Breakfast was great.

pricier than anything else that we stay in but it was valentines day and we felt like we earned a bit more flash. pinpao provided this with a smile. the staff is friendly, the rooms are nice -- not much more to them for the price but nice, the pool was clean and refreshing, the bed and pillows were hard but that's thailand for you. we had our laundry done (5 thb per item). internet is extra (50thb/hr) which i thought was a bit ridiculous but it was probably for the best because it kept me off of facebook and into relaxing. breakfast was 2 eggs (fried or scrambled), toast (with 4 different jams/marmalades plus fresh honey on the comb), bananas, coconut rice pudding, and coffee or tea. i stupidly left something in my room when we checked out and came back for it the next day with no notice. the lady had it set aside for me.

Good option for Sukhothai old city”

The guest house was good with a great breakfast and recommendations to see some temples at sunrise that is definitely a must. The swimming pool is great to cool off before heading to the temples for sunset. It could be made better with tidying it up. The bedroom was comfortable and quiet. It is one of the last guest houses from the entrance to the historical park.

Mediocre hotel close to the old city”

It's close to the old city so you can walk there within 1 or 2 km. The pool is quite nice for refreshing afterwards.

We had 2 rooms next to eachother on the ground floor. They felt a bit like small shacks in a campus dormitory. They smelled a bit old. The staff are friendly and there is a good restaurant 2 km opposite of the pinpao guest house (sana..something on the right hand side). Breakfast was a bit simple so do not expect too much. I suspect there a better b&bs a little further away from the old city. Taxis are simple to get so id figure o would opt for such a solution.

      Wonderful guest house”

      fabulous pool area

Loved this guest house! The young woman manager never stops working. She's constantly cleaning so the place is spotless. Yes the beds may be too firm for some people but we loved them. The pool area is a true oasis.

      Very basic, no frills hotel”

Close to park, free breakfast, very quiet

If you only need a clean place to sleep and have breakfast, this is a good place to stay. At first I was really disappointed but I had to remember you get what you pay for. The bed is quite hard. Breakfast is pretty good (I've had worse but also better). The room was mostly clean. It didn't have an outside window which felt odd to me - a bit cave like. My biggest disappointment was the swimming pool. I was really looking forward to having an afternoon or two laying out and swimming but that didn't happen. The loungers look like they've been left in the sun and rain far too long and desperately need to be replaced. The pool itself was a murky shade of green. I could have covered up the loungers but I was afraid to go in the algae filled water. So sad that it is so poorly taken care of. It could have been beautiful. It is fairly close to the historical park - less than a 15 minute walk to the entrance. I rented a bike (super cheap - 30 baht/day) and it was a pleasant and easy ride.
