nice hotel, awesome pool area but aging building”

we stayed for 3 nights at parkroyal penang and enjoyed every minute. while from the outside the hotel appears quite old, the foyer and pool area are very well renovated and kept. the room we stayed in (upgrade from standard hillview) was comfortable with enough room to swing a tiger. the bath/shower area was reasonably standard and the decor/feel of the room could do with an overhaul but overall very happy. the breakfast was also fantastic and while the hotel is towards the end of the major hotel strip in batu ferringhi, there isn't a great deal worth exiting the hotel for other than the markets and for local food at night. a bus right outside the hotel will cost you close to nothing but will take a substantial amount of time to get to georgetown (komtar) if you wish to check it out (just one day would be enough) overall, top quality hotel.

This is our 4th resort checked in during the span of 2 months. Initially, had booked at the other resort next to it. And after reading the recent reviews decided to cancel and try for Parkroyal Penang. It does not have the best review but it has the type of room we need. Turns out to a much better choice for us. And this is definitely one of the best in terms of the amazing service renders by the staff resort wide, ranging from bellman, housekeeping, front desk, f&b service crew and everyone at the resort. The hotel is nicely kept and maintained. Housekeeping was prompt and clean the room well. Requests made was all promptly attended too with no question ask but friendly smile. In short, everything is just perfect and we will definitely be back again. Thanks to all at Parkroyal, Penang. Please keep up the good work.

Truly relaxing stay and best pick for holiday!!”

totally decision-wise to pick parkroyal hotel over hardrock and golden sands for it was the kind of resort i looked for which is really relaxing and lovely! the breakfast is great with plenty of choices. the curry, omelette, fresh carrot juice are particularly good! outdoor seats will be your favourite for you love a morning breeze in a natural environment with birds and greenery around. the aroma placed outside the elevator was lovely and felt like being home. the room (hillview) is a bit dated but did not harm my mood of stay while the amenities are good enough. the airconditioning was rather strong even after reconciliation though. the pool area is terrific and we enjoyed the welcoming drink there which was so amazing! yet we did not try any food other than breakfast since the hotel is centrally located in batu ferringhi that many good resturants and bars can be found within minutes of walk such as living room cafe. parkroyal is definitely my choice for i return back in the future!

Good Hotel by the beach with good atmosphere”

before staying at this hotel we stayed at gurney area in penang, and at this hotel the beach resort atmosphere is really significant. The lobby is huge with relaxing feel, the check in process also quite fast and within the comfort of their lounge. We book the premier sea front room, the room is a bit small with this type but it's cozy and it have balcony looking out to the batu ferringhi beach. The breakfast is great with many amount of variety to choose from. The location is near to the near starbuck and selection of dinner area. Overall great stay with ParkRoyal

Hotel where you can feel at home”

parkroyal, batu ferringhi penang, is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. the beach location was perfect for us as a couple to have a relaxed time. we were received with a warm welcome from the excellent hotel staff. the hotel room was huge. we had a romantic time at the hotel beach restaurant. strategically located. sea sport activities were just outside the hotel. likewise the night market springs up just outside the hotel. all eateries were of walkable distance from the hotel. totally had a great time!

Great Place!”

Overall i am very happy with my stay in PARKROYAL. The place is located in batu fehringghi (spelling) and its walking distance away from the nightmarket. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and you can catch the 101 bus if you want to go the the city centre (in our case, we only went to the gurney plaza/paragon shopping malls and tesco). The hotel also provides a shuttle that goes to the city centre for an affordable price (but then again, with the bus stop right infront of the hotel, its recommended just to catch the bus) The room was big and spacious, the bed i believe is 2 queensize beds merged into 1, its VERY SPACIOUS, if you're a family travelling with 2 kids you can easily fit everyone in 1 bed. The only thing that i don't like from the room is the floor is not carpet and it tends to feel a bit (just a bit) dirty. And they don't provide slippers as well. The room service was great! We ordered nasi briyani with lamb, seafood horfun, fish & chips, and chicken nuggets + wedges, the fish and chips is good for a really affordable price, the nasi briyani and seafood horfun is slightly more expensive but it is totally worth it. I will definitely go back to this hotel if i visit Penang again.

best hotel from our selection of 5!”

Out of the 5 hotels which we stayed in Malaysia, this was the best. We contacted all hotels, notifying them it was for our honeymoon and this was the only establishment to make an effort. Not only did they upgrade our room, the daily housekeeping was most thoughtful. On every occasion, our housekeeper left a pleasant gesture and ensured she made our stay memorable. Located in Batu Ferenghi, it's constantly a buzz from the local night markets and eateries but it still a trek away from Georgetown and major shopping complexes. But this shouldn't be a put off as transports links are frequent and fast. Our only negatives point is the constant presence of tiny brown ants. This was reported and facilities were very quick to respond. It certainly did not put off our stay as this has to be expected from staying by the coast. It's just natural life nearby. The Parkroyal is a wonderful hotel, I met a family there who go to Penang quite reguarly, they have stayed in Parkroyal 8 times! It's no wonder as the service is second to none.

Wonderful resort in Batu Ferringhi”

I love staying at the Parkroyal Penang Resort, it has excellent facilities with the beach right on your doorstep. The staff are always so wonderfully polite, friendly and helpful especially the concierge staff. The buffet breakfast is included in the room price and has a great selection of local and western food and if you have children, there is both a kids pool and one for adults. One of my favourite things every afternoon was to relax on the lounge chairs and watch the sun set. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience at Parkroyal.

Relaxing Penang”

Parkroyal Penang Resort is renovated, swimming pool is great, room is big, just a minute walk to batu ferringhi beach, few minutes walk to 長園美食中心 Long Beach Cafe. my husband & I had a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend trip, we will definitely visit this place again.

We stayed for two nights at parkroyal Penang hotel. The hotel is located right next to holiday inn hotel on the main batu ferringhi road. The building from the outside looks rustic but the lobby is huge and the rooms are also awesome. Swimming pool is very tempting and remains open till 2300 hours. The bazar area is very close where you can find spa, restaurants, Internet cafe and many more things. Highly recommend.

Beautiful beach resort with well appointed rooms ”

great location at batu ferringhi beach, weather warm and sunny. saw lutong monkeys in trees outside our hill view room. wonderful selection of multi national cuisine at tamarind restaurant where we had breakfast daily. complimentary drink on arrival was a nice touch. the bus stopped outside the hotel and for the low cost of rm 1-3 (ringits), less than a#1 we could go to georgetown and the tropical spice garden, the batik factory, the penang butterfly park, the teluk bahang reservoir and the teluk bahang tropical fruit farm. you could also go to tanjung benoa pier and take and then take a boat tour to monkey island for rm 80 per boat or to turtle island for rm 150. you could also go to many other locations on the island including gurney drive and plaza and the toy museum. however, i could not recommend the toy museum which costs rm 20 adult. this museum is advertised as the world's largest toy museum but it is very shabby, crammed with loads of exhibits with minimal information. there is a night street market every evening outside the hotel and there are lots of local restaurants nearby. one night we had an enjoyable meal in a local food court and we had good meals at the boatman restaurant and the living room restaurant. food was really cheap but good.

Excellent ambience. Excellent staff ”

After the recent renovation, Parkroyal Penang is gorgeous. The ambience itself felt like that of a beach resort in Bali. There were welcome drinks presented to us when we arrived. The hotel was so serene and peaceful. Rooms were brand new. Basically everything was new as they just revamped the hotel. Breakfast was a whole selection of international foods. Rooms were big enough and could fit more than 3 people. Our balcony was just a huge shared garden with your own private walkway. I booked the one bedroom sea view. The location itself was close to several eateries/restaurants and every night the night market would stretch along the streets outside the hotel. Water sports were really accessible and affordable right by the beach.

Great Location, Newly Renovated”

We stayed at the newly renovated ParkRoyal Penang for 8 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were great, friendly and extremely helpful in very way. Batu Ferringhi is the top spot in Penang to holiday and the ParkRoyal is the best place by far.

ENJOYABLE HOLIDAYS”

Stayed here 3nites. Practically like everything about it. Spacious lobby area, nice pool, great buffet spread n ambience, nice beach views, great lounge performances, nice furnished clean room with strong aircon. Good staff services. Also like the complimentary ice dispenser on our floor. Good food with affordable price especially the pizza at their Gustoso restaurant . And also like the overall relaxing resort feel from the moment we stepped in. Parkroyal Penang Resort-u will c us very soon again.

Wonderful resort hotel”

We have just returned from a 11 night stay at the Parkroyal Penang and have had a very very enjoyable stay, so much so we are already planning our next holiday there again. The staff were amazing, very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We chose to eat mostly at the hotel as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. Our room was a premier sea facing which was very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Cant recommend this this hotel enough. Thanks very much to Parkroyal Penang and their wonderful staff.

Although Batu Ferringhi (where the resort is located) is far from the main sights in Penang, the resort has a beautiful private beach. ParkRoyal has excellent service and friendly staff. Definitely worth the stay!

Nice room but poor breakfast ”

We booked a superior room with breakfast provided. We bought this from a deal. Our room is facing the front of the hotel. The room is very clean and new. The toilet is big. We liked the room. We were very disappointed with the breakfast. I have to agree with the review from other traveller that the breakfast is poor and it is not the quality of a 5 stars hotel. All the hot food served for the breakfast were cold. There were not many varieties of the hot food. Despite the less varieties for “hot food”, the hotel served 3 types of rice which were cold ie coconut rice, briyani rice and another type of rice. All 3 types were cold and the briyani rice was just rice with Chili (not the right way to cook briyani rice) and it was cold and wet. We did not expect this is the quality of food served by a 5 stars hotel. We had stayed in other parkroyal hotels but we think the breakfast served in this parkroyal is the worst. What was good from the breakfast is the pastries and breads. There were quite a lot of varieties for pastries n bread for the breakfast and the quaintly were good. The staff is friendly. The pool is shallow, not practical for Swimming. Basically for soaking. We will stay here again but We will not pay for the breakfast if the quality has not improved. We hope the management will improve the breakfast selections and quality.

On the beach front”

Hotel is handy for everything - beach front, night markets, and best of all the bus stops right outside. No haggling with taxi drivers bus 101 is air conditioned clean and frequent, maybe every ten minutes or so (reduced service on Sunday). 2.70RM gets you to Georgetown (get off at Komtar) in about 45 minutes. Buy a week's bus pass for 30RM at Komtar while you are there. It costs even less to get to Gurney Plaza and its night market or the National Park in the opposite direction. Bus 102 will take you from airport to Batu Ferringhi (and the ParkRoyal)for 4RM but is less frequent.

Nice relaxing holiday”

We had a nice 6 night stay at the Parkroyal in Penang. Highlights were the extensive breakfast buffet and the garden/pools. We opted for a hillview room, as we didn't plan to spend much time in the room, but other guests may prefer a sea view. Location is central in Batu Ferringhi, with many restaurants nearby. The local bus to Georgetown stops just outside the hotel. While we were in Penang, there was an earthquake and associated tsunami warning (which thankfully didn't eventuate!). Staff at the Parkroyal acted promptly to move guests away from the beach, explain what was happening and to reassure any guests who were nervous. They handled the situation very well.

It was a good stay. My friend recommended me other hotels along Batu Ferringhi but somehow my heart said why shoul I when i know i am going to enjoy staying at Parkroyal Penang. Will definitely stay here on our next visit.
