Activities Mania”

I was only at Nomads Capital Backpackers for one night but for that night, there were always movie going on in the lounge area and lots of people of hanging around there. Lively young atmosphere (not too loud). There were free dinner snacks, and free morning pancakes, which was a bonus (wasn't expecting), also free tea and coffee (which is my cup of tea!). The security is also very tight which is great to see in a Backpackers as we need our swipe card to get into the room area, into our floor area, and then finally into our rooms. The toilets/bathroom were also clean and there weren't a lot of people there at the time I was there (so I didn't have to wait/share). Overall great atmosphere.

Great location but somewhat noisy backpackers”

Have stayed in Nomads a few times and it will continue to be my main goto place in Wellington. Free food in the evening and great location seal the deal for me. With some luck it would be great to get a quiet group of backpackers all in the same room!

Fantastic hostel”

The staff are really welcoming. There’s loads on offer there especially the free pancakes for breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Blend bar next door is excellent- we had two steaks for $30 and they were delicious. Totally recommend Nomads Wellington.

Good place at a great price but the housekeeping isn't very good”

The Nomads is located in the heart of Wellington and offers make-your-own pancakes for breakfast plus a free dinner each evening in the bar next door, Blend. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful but the housekeepers were terrible. Everyday they did something wrong -- left dirty towels, didn't empty the rubbish bin, didn't replace the coffee/tea, didn't make the beds, didn't replace the toilet paper. I had to ask for more towels and coffee at the front desk several times and I stayed there for a week. The location was great for a traveler with no vehicle as everything is within walking distance. The beds were very comfortable and soft but the room was rather cold however I was given a space heater to warm it up.

Great time”

I had an amazing time here, meeting many great travelers and friends. The hostel is clean and has everything you need, including free pancake mix in the morning and a small free meal in the bar next door, which has amazing prices that I have yet to find matched in Wellington, as well as great bar staff that's always up for a laugh and chat to you. The slightly squeaky beds and occasional mishap are definitely worth it for the friendly staff, that's always tried their best to make me feel valued and heard with every complaint I've had. I've stayed here for roughly three months in total and have not regretted a day. Shout-out to Ryan in the hostel and Glenn in the bar. It was great fun spending my time with you

Sweet as ”

I booked just one night in here but I ended up staying the whole week. It was the hostel that kept me in Wellington with the awesome staff (special thanks for the night crew who had to deal with my drunken ass). Or maybe it was the bar next door with free dinner (!!!) for the hostel customers and the cheapest drinks in town and how easy it was to meet fellow travelers there. I don't know but I will surely miss the place and the people. Much love!

Perfect for what we wanted”

I went to Wellington with 2 teens for a weekend. We all had to be in 1 room because the under 18s were not allowed in a dorm, but the staff member who checked us in was very helpful in finding us an alternative to what we had booked. The pub next door with snack sized meal included in our room rate was a real plus - we upgraded to full meal for $2 and it was good value and a nice atmosphere to have a drink and relax. The room standard was good with towels and bedding provided. Good value.

My boyfriend stayed in the dorm here on our first few days in Wellington and everything was great - I've stayed at all hostels in Wellington and this is by far the best and best value! Super clean, free dinner which is the best!!! cheap drinks and PERFECT location!

Exceptional”

Great location, just love being in downtown Wellington. booked a room for myself which was a very good decision as I was there for a funeral also meant that I could have peace and quiet when I wanted too. breakfast was pancakes and included in the room rate which was a great idea. Very clean and fresh. looks like it had a tidy up. last stayed there 4 years ago so much better this time.

bustling hostel with lots to do”

staff were awesome, and the activities for each day were a great idea, especially with discounted prices or fun ways to enjoy wellington. rooms were cosy and the heating was amazing. the shared kitchen however was not so clean.

We stayed here for two nights, the room is daily cleaning, walking to the Wellington cable car station less than ten minutes. The supermarket is not far away from this hotel.. I feel uncomfortable to hear the loud noise from the bar at night..

Lovely backpackers; kitchen a concern”

i enjoy staying at nomads capital. the rooms are warm, there's sky tv, and the location is excellent (right in the centre of town, near cuba st.). two problems: 1. the room i stayed in this time had beds that were so squeaky they woke me up when somebody moved around. they didn't seem that sturdy, either; a slightly heavy man could possibly cause the top bunk to fall. 2. a big concern: while there was soap available in pumps on the walls in the kitchen, few people knew that the pumps had soap in then and instead washed the dishes with water only. this could easily spread disease, especially with so many travelers from so many countries. there need to be signs stating where the soap is.

Great location and free meal in the evening provided. Good backpacker prices for drinks in the evening. The only problem is if you get put into a room with rowdy/noisy backpackers, and you will find it hard to sleep as a result due to their constant partying. Bathrooms and toilets are clean. Washing machine is OK. Dryer is very poor at drying clothes adequately. You'll end up spending at least $3 just to dry a load of washing.

Probably the best located backpacker's in the city, opposite the i-Site centre & City Library. Only issue is the makeup of the guests in your dorm room. If you are lucky you'll have a quiet bunch that doesn't come back at 2am in the morning noisy as hell, but this is the exception rather than the rule. Bathrooms and toilets are clean. Always a good sign! Free food in the evening is nice, as is cheap backpacker drinks deals. Staff helpful and friendly even though they are constantly busy.

My Second Nomads Stay Experience”

This is my second time experiencing Nomads. My first was in Queenstown. My experience with Nomads Wellington is interesting since this is my first time being with strangers. I can say that the facilities here is just average. I think they can improve more in terms of assigning solo travelers like me to a lesser group of people. Also, breakfast was not available during my stay. This should not be advertised in the website. They offered me free coffee and dinner voucher but the voucher was not given to me by the receptionist.

the hotel is near by cuba street, one of the most important points of wellington, as well as near the renewd port with very good restaurants and bars. cole to railway station and bus terminal, and near by the stop of the incoming bus from airport. expensive internet, both in house pc's or wi-fi. friendly staff with amused activities in bar.

I now stay here every time I come to Wellington after checking out a few other places first. It suits my needs perfectly.

Good base for a short stay in Wellington”

The communal kitchen and living room is great to meet other travellers and the staff can provide a lot of information about where to go and what to do. The location is very convenient and next to one of our favourite cafes in Wellington. As we were travelling as a couple just stopping over in Welly, we found the general building too noisy as we could hear the pub and people talking outside up till the wee hours of the morning. If we were up for a party though it would have been a great place to be!
