This cozy hostel set in downtown Auckland is an excellent choice for backpackers and those looking for a place that will not break the bank. Fort Street Hostel is set in a historic building, yet it boasts some of the funkiest atmospheres in town. Facilities include en-suite rooms with TV and comfortable bedding. Guests are welcome to watch TV in the lounge, get some sun on the rooftop sundeck, or relax in the free sauna and spa facilities. The communal kitchen is a great place to meet new people, socialize, and make quick meals. When night falls, head to Fusion Backpackers Bar & Nightclub to hangout and chill. There are weekly quiz nights, daily fun activities, and great DJ's spinning music all night long. For anyone looking to have some fun and meet new people, the Fort Street Hostel is an excellent choice!

Awesome cheap & central”
I am from Auckland but live a fair way out of the city. If I plan on spending the night in town and going out, I always enjoy finding myself a room to crash in afterwards to prevent driving or spending money on taxis etc. Nomads is the definition of a central downtown location, the staff were more than happy to accommodate when a friend of mine managed to misplace my room card, no extra charge for the card, upgrade to a room with a window, OR the late check out of 12pm. Fantastic service. Not amazing rooms, very small but for $80NZD I had my own private room on the top floor with en-suite and a great view of the city. Perfect if it's just yourself, although maybe not recommended if you end up with a couple of guests at the end of the night! :)

Brilliant Location,friendly and helpful staff”
the staff are very friendly and helpful.i flew in early in the morning and was able to check into my room straight away with no delay of waiting for the check in time which can be annoying when you have just got off a flight and are tired,so really appreciated that.the location is central city and is easy to find the hostel as its just off the main street called queen street.lots of bars and restaurants in the area for all budgets and my favourite was the closeness of the clothes shops, just around the corner.the harbour is a 5mins walk away and has great restaurants also has ferry services for day trips i highly recommend a trip to waiheke island.overall amazing time will definitely go back.

best value for money”
if you are solo traveller, this is the best place for you! the price is unbeatable in Auckland city, great location there is a lot of good food places and clubs nearby! the cleanliness could be improved but its not that bad, the bunks on the bottom are very low and some of the beds dont have ladder to climb up to the top bunk, so that sucks but other than that this is a great place. if you are a solo traveler and only want a place to sleep and store your clothes, you should pick this hostle :)

Centrally located, clean room, nice staff ”
This is a very good backpackers hostel, the staff very nice and polite. They allowed us to use the bathroom even we not yet check in the hostel. The hotel is centrally located, which very near to shopping area (QUEEN STREET)and other famous visiting area like sky tower, train station britomart, voyager new Zealand maritime museum and etc...

Attentive staff, great location.”
We were informed that there was a mix-up with Agoda and hostel was overbooked for the type of rooms. Frontdesk gave us the closest equivalent (double room without shower), and made a small (and much appreciated) gesture of goodwill. Room had window, was clean, just got a bit noisy at night given the partying crowd on street. Overall, good value for money, and would recommend to others.

Above average”
It is cheap but it is worth paying a bit more to go to a better hostel. There is no soap in the bathrooms, the'kitchen is too small for the number of people, there is not enougth knifes, forks, plates... the rooms are smelly and messy and small. There is lockers under the beds but they dont always work. The bathrooms are dirty. I stayed in another hostel when I went back to Auckland...

Exactly what you'd expect from a city hostel.”
If you've stayed in a few backpackers hostels in your time, you know what to expect. Great location (compensated for by the price- not very cheap!), professional and friendly staff, easy access to rooms, bathrooms for each room. No free wifi (although you can pay for it) which is a shame but that's to be expected in NZ.

Just for one night”
Pros- in city center. Skyline Bus from the Airport drops u off at 99 Queens Street and hostel is 500 m away. Cons- too many beds in one room, room smells bad. Couldn’t even take a shower. Book a better hostel the next day BUT if ur in a budget, then do what u gotta do.

Great for meeting people. ”
My first few nights here were great. Lovely room, upgraded for free to en suite. (I had booked on to a tour group that had a deal with the hostel) on my return (having now left the tour group) I booked the same size room but this time got a cramped, smelly, dirty room. Very unimpressed. The kitchen is pretty crappy. You have to search for bowls and cups. Good location, and plenty of backpackers around.

Awful Experience”
It was an awful experience when I spend two nights in Nomads Auckland Backpackers Hostel, a single private room. But first of all, I appreciate the staff in front desk are really helpful and nice, the location of hostel is great. However, there's water keep falling down from the ceiling inside the bathroom all over the night, and I don't know where's the water comes from, is that rain? or just someone's bathing in the upper floor? That makes me feel terrible. Last but not least, there's obviously some dirt/stain on the blanket, I wonder if there's any cleaning after the backpackers checked out. It was really an terrible experience and I would never go back and would never recommend to a friend.

Clean and comfortable in good location”
Enjoyed our stay at this hostel, especially eating dinner off the rooftop dining area looking over the city. bit noisy at night but to be expected in the heart of the city.

Overall a good stay, although a bit noisy at night due to the central location but that is to be expected from a hostel in the middle of the city.

Party hostel”
Our stay at Nomads wasn't that great. Our room was really smelly and stuffy. It smelled like someone had vomited and it was left and no one cleaned it up. Our room had horrible ventilation. It was very noisy outside due to the clubs below. The rooms are too small for 8 people and all their belongings... only a small drawer to put things. The bathrooms are mixed gender with the toilets on one side and the sinks on the complete opposite side. This is a party hostel good for people who like to be out late- not for sleep. Also while staying here, I became ill with an extremely sore throat and ear ache. I'm not one to get sick and I would barely talk/swallow. A few days out of this hostel and I felt so much better. Wifi is for 24 hours and it's 4 NZD.

Good”
Kitchen is dirty and way too small for the number of people in this hostel. Rooms are cramped and no aircon so window has to be left open and there’s a lot of noise, although this is expected in a city. Just needs a bit of refurbishment but location is perfect.
