Excellent, large rooms and great location”
Passing through Padang, this is a great option. Big rooms, AC, kitchen for use, Hot and cold water refills. Easy walk to town. Just a warning though, this has NOTHING to do with the accommodation, but I had my bag snatched in Padang while there last week. A motorbike came from behind and grabbed it. It was diagonally over my shoulder, and under my other arm! I was walking next to my husband. The bag on the outside of us, but we were walking in a small lane! Total surprise and believe we were stalked. Both phones, money and both wallets taken. ONLY CARRY ESSENTIALS, and use a small back pack or bum bag if you can. Staff at the New House were very helpful afterwards, as were the local police. But these guys were professional so please take care. Everywhere you go, not just Padang.

This place is very value for your money. Have a conducive environment, near FOOD STALLS, the sea, and mosque ( we can hear AZAN for every solat). The staff are very helpful (thanks to RONI & his brother MUL that have assisted us for 5 nights we were there). Will drop here again next time if I come to PADANG. InsyaaAllah. Oh, btw, Just provide us glasses that FREE-From-ALCOHOL.. Okey? Till we meet again. :)

Clean facilities”
New House was a simple, clean place to stay. The staff, however, was very unhelpful. Breakfast was always super late because they cooked the breakfast at their second location and brought it over, and every time we asked about things to do or directions - no one knew anything. The packages they provided were also very over priced. We ended up going to another homestay and booking things through them because it was much cheaper.

"New House" is closed since a while but it's still offered online? There's a second guest house "Brigitte's guesthouse" owned by the same people, so l got a room there instead. That was kind of disappointing, because my booked room with garden view and double bed became a room with to single beds and a "window" towards the kitchen. As my room was also right in front of the reception and living room area and the stairs to the upper level where right in front of my door too, it was very noisy all day. So no good place to get some good rest and privacy. Besides warm water wasn't working and the hole room smelled very strong after Naphthalene, as they were using it in the bathroom. So all together disappointing because it was totally different from what l booked and expected :(

Mosquitos, Smell, No breakfast, Zero Hospitality, dirty toilet ”
When I booked this property from agoda, they mentioned that breakfast is included. But the host didn't provide breakfast. When I asked them they said if you book this property online then breakfast is not included. But when you come directly here as walk in customer only then breakfast is included. I laughed when got this answer. But I didn't argue. 2. When we reached there at New house padang, I noted that there were 3 rooms occupied and maximum 6 guests but the number of hosts were more than 10. And these 10 persons were not there to serve you. They were there just to rest. At ground floor, there is TV lounge and balcony which is only of them. Because guests dare not to come out and sit there because they already too many sitting and laying here and there. 3. In short, not recommended for anyone specially when you are going with your partner. Thank you.

Unlike most other cheap places in Indonesia, This place was not a flea bag. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was nice, clean and quiet. Definitely a nice place to do a stop over before moving to your next destination.

For the limited options in the area it was a good place to stay. Some of our bedding was dirty (it looked like mold) and the breakfast was expensive by Indonesian standards but the staff are nice, there are communal areas and the water is very hot.

I was given a room with shared bathroom. I refused. All the rooms are with shared bathroom even if it is not written. I was finally given a room noisy and smelly with private bathroom. But the bathroom was really scary.
