upgraded to nam long plus hotel”

Taxi from dong hoi airport approx $6US. Good base for cave tours, approx 30 minutes drive to national park. Nam long hotel was full so they drove me to their new second hotel with upgrade. I was suprised to learn the new hotel was 3 years old because it looked brand new, room was spacious, bright and minimally furnished, spotless. The hotel has a good relationship with the cave tour operators and you can book 5 different tours at reception, even at 8am for an 8:15am departure, no need to pre-book (however it was winter season) I recommend the paradise cave + dark cave tour, but be prepared to do lots of swimming for the dark cave section and being completely submerged in mud. Phong nha cave tour by boat is also amazing, very relaxing, little physical effort required. WIFI was good, big TV. The hotel owner drove me to the airport for free as he was headed that way, also bought me a drink and had a wonderful chat at the airport whilst waiting for my flight. Why are you still reading? Great stay with a reasonable price”

I booked a stay for 2 nights at Nam Long Hotel in Dong Hoi. I really enjoyed my time there and was very impressed with the clean room given to me. The girls at the front desk were very nice and friendly. The hotel staff also provided me with bicycles to get around town free of charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Dong Hoi. - Chris

Great value for money”

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Dong Hoi is a small but nice place. Very few tourists so you do get a few strange looks from the locals but are still very friendly. The hotel is basic but exceptionally clean and the staff cant do enough to help you. Breakfast was not included but is so cheap and as there are not very many restaurants near by it's definitely worth it. Hotel offers motorbike/Scooter rental for a reasonable price per day. Would recommend hiring one and driving out to the caves but be warned, if they think your not capable they will call you back. One young lady nearly crashed into the owners car right outside the hotel and was made to come back :) Can't blame them! Would recommend this hotel and Dong Hoi to others but only for a couple of days as once you've been to the caves and explored the beach there's not much else to do.

My first travel to abroad”

I warried a little bit about this travel because this is my first time to travel abroad. But I could enjoy a lot about cave tour at phon nya, sightseeing in dong hoi and any other things here. Because this hotel's staff was very kind and took care of me very much. Moreover, even after check out this hotel they have taken care for me such as let me taking shower and booking train ticket. I make sure I can enjoy my travel after leave from here. Thank you to Nam Long hotel and specially Ms.moon!

Best choice for backpacker - Value for money!”

Our family spent 1 night at Nam Long hotel, during our 10 days trip to Central of Vietnam. This is the good choice for us as the hotel have a perfect location, in the centre of Quang Binh, close to everything, and have many good places to eat around. I booked a family room on the 1st floor (1 double bed and a bunk bed), it is quite clean and spacious.The staff are super kindness, friendly and helpful. All in all, Nam Long hotel is a really good choice for backpackers, and value for money.

Real slice of home life in Vietnam ”

I highly recommend this hostel for their extremely homely welcome, attention to detail and fantastic hotel locations. It feels more like a large house and is perfectly located to explore the small town of Dong Hoi. Shout out to They also arrange excellent value for money and well thought out tours to the Phuong Nah caves (We visited paradise and dark cave which were a highlight out of Cambodia and Vietnam) and have excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to do. All your usual hostel questions have been thought about and prepared for you, they thought of everything. Hands down the most personable place to stay in south east asia! Also they have the best Pho for breakfast, do not miss this gem and a chance to see Dong Hoi flourish. Sounds pretty cheesy but it's really true!

Friendly, clean and value”

Well on the first day, the caving expedition was cancelled due to floodinh, common in november n december. So the next day it was opened back and when i checking out, they informed me that it was opened. They helped me purchase another train ticket as there was a change of plan for a reasonable fee off course. Check out day, the guy receptionist fectched me and some others to the train station fot free. While he was there, he picked up additional guest; not sure if it has anything to do with it. In the end they were friendly and best of all the place is managed by a family. 1 brother and 4 sisters from what could tell. The younger sister who was cleaning the rooms is charming. Managed to grab a group photo before leaving. Would return to this hotel when i m in dong hoi.

small and cozy hotel with great basic restaurant”

cozy hotel in a small town, on a riverbank, some rooms come with river-view. most people only stay in dong hoi to start a cave-tour from here. hotel staff speaks basic english, extremely nice and helpful folks. they organize tours, prices are good in comparison with some competitors. hotel has a restaurant with basic vietnamese food, low prices. the only other option in the neighborhood is a restaurant 1 street up, but that one is extremely overpriced. only negative aspect is: no elevator, so if you are staying on the top floor (4th floor) be prepared for climbing the stairs with your luggage.

Stayed here to visit the Phong Nah caves/park and it was perfect. It's located in Dong Hoi right across from the river and park. If weather is nice cheap out the remains of the old church. It's also near multiple cafes and spots for food. They can book a tour to the caves for you as well. The hotel and room were extremely clean and in wonderful condition. We had the balcony room and it was beautiful to look out on the river. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend if in the area! 😊

Excellent Venue, Helpful Staff”

I stayed two nights, and I'm going back to stay for a week. Pleasant and convenient location, helpful staff, comfortable room and a very nice breakfast. They can arrange day tours to the park and caves. This is an excellent hotel in a remarkable city, however, if you have mobility issues be aware there is no elevator. Dong Hoi is a must for a Vietnam coastal visit, and this a great venue at a very reasonable price.

Unexpectedly Delighful!”

We stayed in Dong Hoi for one night, mainly as a stopover between Phong Nha and Hanoi. We were pleasantly surprised by both the hotel and the city! Dong Hoi has a beautiful waterfront and some cute cafes and restaurants. The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and cheap. We had a great night there!

I had a very enjoyable stay at the Nam Long hotel. Dong Hoi was a very pleasant place to visit and the otel helped me to arrange trips by motor bike and mini-van.

Great hotel with friendly staff”

I stayed here 1 night after visiting phong nha . I wasn't expecting much for $10 aus dollars a night for a double room but I was pleasantly surprised! The staff were all very friendly and helpful the room was a good size and very clean. the river side area of dong Hoi is very quiet, not much traffic . It's worth a stay if you want to kill a day or two.. Tree hugger cafe just around the corner does nice food and great coffee as well .

Outstanding”

This was the best hostel i've ever stayed at. It was super cheap, so comfy and clean, staff were amazing. Only downside is that dong hoi itself isnt very interest other than the cave tours, and internet is only in the lobby. Great hotel though! Definitely stay here if you are in dong hoi

Good hotel that can offer you everything you need”

we stayed here for three nights. the city dong hoi hasn't that much to offer so it was fine you could find everything you need at the hotel. meals are good. we decided to book a tour to phnong nha with them and we don't regret that, it was great. the room we had was big and clean.

Great Location, amazing value for money”

An older property but regardless this is fantastic value for money. The location is in the heart of everything for tourists to access, the rooms are a good size and the staff are really friendly. I would definately stay here each time I visit Dong Hoi in the future

Great place to stay”

We stayed here for 2 nights in dong hoi. The hotel and staff are both brilliant. It was clean, great wifi, the room was huge! The staff helped us get train tickets for the next day too... we also were able to rent motorbikes here as well. Would definitely recommend

Good Stay”

The stay would be great if we did not have these hiccups: 1. on/off internet access: the hotel has wifi access for each floor, namely Nam Long, Nam Long 2 (2nd floor), Nam Long 3 (3rd floor) and Nam Long 4 (4th floor). We stayed on 2nd floor, but Nam Long 2 could not be accessed (connected but could not browsing or doing anything), Nam Long 3 was strong enough for us to use but on and off frequently (also have timeout connection quite frequent). In the end, we had to use Nam Long which is for 1st floor and it was very weak. Ask the staff to check out the connection but no improvement. 2. Motorbike rental service: be careful with the motorbike rental service. On the first day we rented a motorbike to go to Đá Nhảy beach (and we clearly said that destination to the staff). the rental fee for whole day is 150,000VND but we went from 2pm so the staff agreed to take half day rental (2pm - 8pm) with the price of 80,000VND. However, on the day of check-out, the staff was asking us to pay for the full fee of 150,000VND. After a while reasoning with the hotel, they agreed to get the payment of agreement before (80,000VND). 3. Be careful with food places around the hotel. Better buy food at the hotel (a little more expensive but safer) Generally, the hotel is a good place to stay with good price. Just a few notices that you should take note. I still recommend this hotel to others. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great budget option in a quiet town”

Very well-run place that is deservedly popular among the travellers that pass through Dong Hoi. They run tours to the caves, and can book onward travel for you. I had the top floor double room, which is excellent if your legs are up to the 4 flights of stairs to get there! Great views over the city and the river.
