Delightful Restful”

Someone asked why we were staying in Twizel - it was a dump! We entirely disagree. The motel was off the main road and looked out on birch trees. Twizel means town of trees, and they were beautiful in Autumn. Small village-y feel. By the way - no mountain view from the cabin. Kitchen intuitive, bed comfortable, shower great, lounge great. Very good base en route from Lake Tekapo and close to Mt Cook.

Good place to prepare for Mt Cook activities”

Twizel is very near to Mt Cook and Mountain Chalet is right by the highway, but less than half the price of the equivalent at Mt Cook Village. Good location, friendly staff and clean units. Would totally recommend.

Great stop over”

We had travel up from Christchurch for a long weekend, it's a 3.5 hour drive so very glad to be given the keys and in our warm and cozy chalet within seconds of arrival. I was a freezing mid winter day but the chalet had been warmed before we arrived. There is not a lot to do in Twizel except a few great places to eat so a snug place to chill out and watch TV and relax was very welcome.

Very good experience ”

Everything is better than good as a motel. Clean and tidy chalet, good location specially for fishing. Comfortable bed, we had good sleeps for two night. Wish to stay again next time when we are in Twizel.

Great stay - Clean and Comfy”

stayed for one night as an alternative to the pricey mt cook hotels and resort. also a short drive to lake tekapo. chalets are clean and comfy with all the ammenities you need. owners are friendly and offered discount vouchers for local restaurants. twizel centre is only a short stroll away. fully reccommended.

Convenience and really helpful ”

We came to twizel when road closed due to heavy snow. We didn't expected much at first but only to find a shelter. However, it was really a surprise to find the big,warm,comfortable room of the motel. And the hosts were helpful with the ways out of snow so that we wouldn't miss the flight.

Cozy Place.”

everything is good. i like hotel design n location. it's located on the road which's paralel with highway and just 3 mins to downtown shopping centre by car. Also the room i stayed is in studio type. There are kitchen(w full equipment) and toilet. The hotel also has laundry house which i can clean up my cloth after long journey. Just one thing, The hotel sign at night time is unclear n i couldn't find the hotel until i rechecked w my gps twice n passed the hotel 3 times. the reception's closed at 8 pm. However, if i go to Twizel, i will stay here again.!!

Exceptional”

Great location close to Twizel township. Our chalet had lots of room separate lounge/dining, bedroom, and bathroom with kitchenette two tvs two heat pumps. Loved it here recommend to anyone.

Luxurious Stay”

Mountain Chalet Motel was such a nice place to stay. I regret only being there for 12 hours but I will definitely be back and book far in advance. I had my own chalet and everything was clean, air conditioned, and in pristine order. Thank you!

Our room was refurbished & they have done a great job. Twizel is an economical place to stay when visiting and Tecapo. Plenty of room and very comfotable. Great accomodation slso for families.

Quiet, cosy and great for any group!”

2nd time back to Mountain Chalets and it's still as cosy as I remembered it to be. Very convenient, a quick drive away from the town center. Full kitchen amenities, and worth the price. Staff was friendly, helpful. Will keep coming back!

Luxurious Stay”

Was in Twizel for a stopover enroute to the south. Pleasantly surprise the space, the amenities and facilities provided. Shower was good. There was a mini kitchen which was well equipped. We came from a country with free WiFi easily accessible at anywhere - so, we felt the hotel could be more generous with their WiFi. Overall a comfortable stay and would recommend to our friends and family.

A nice little town, ”

we enjoy our stay in mountain chalet, A quiet little town, with a few nice restaurant in the area, the room is clean, with well equipped kitchen, short drive to mt cook, lake pukaki & lake tekapo, will stay there again.

Eclectic place”

We stayed one night at Mountain Chalet. Our chalet was a single unit. It was a bit tricky to get to as it was behind other units that faced the parking lot. Ours faced the neighbor's fence across a grassy parking area. The unit was quite adequate for an overnight stay.

Something Different, clean rooms and good service”

Nice place to stay for larger groups. There are 21 of us and we stayed in a number of chalets which were different to the normal motel rooms. Quiet and great location.

Nice chalet”

We loved the entire chalet design, the internal wood design made us feel warm and cosy. My children are glad to have the whole attic area to themselves. We stayed at Unit #6 that is directly opposite the guest laundry which ebabled me to frequently checked my washing. Toilets and shower rooms are clean too. Would recommend this chalet for small family of 4 to 5.

Nice chalets in an excellent location”

Stayed here for 3 nights while we explored the Mt Cook area. Twizel is very underrated and makes an excellent base to explore Mount Cook as well as the surrounding lakes etc. We stayed in one of the cheaper open plan chalets which was perfectly acceptable for our needs. Wifi although offered was very erratic.

Great place to stay and friendly reception”

My wife and I had her elderly father with us and the owners upgraded us for no extra charge so he had his own room away from us. Very impressed and they were really nice chalets and the information about where to eat was very good. Would stay there again.

Weekend getaway”

The Mountain Chalet was a very nice motel with all the appointments needed for our stay however I searched agoda for accomodation in Tekapo and didn't realise that the motel was so far away from there. It was 40 plus minutes travel either way.
