A beautiful honeymoon location!”

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and three days...We chose MerPerle Hon Tam resort as our honeymoon spot, because its proximity to Nha Trang and beautiful location. The ferry ride to the resort from the boat port was fast and pleasant. We were very pleased with the layout of the resort, it was nice, organized and clean!!! Our suite was located just on the hill top overseeing the restaurant and swimming below. The room itself was very clean and roomy. My wife was surprised at the size of the washroom/bath area and how big it was, so spacious. I really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. If you don't feel like eating the only restaurant on the resort then you can take a short walk to the other side where most day tourists come to relax. There is a restaurant on the other side that serves lunch and dinner buffet, and also, within a walking distance there is a small outdoor eatery owned and operated by a family that serves very delicious, affordable and authentic Vietnamese food!!!! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at MerPerle Hon Tam resort, I would love to come back again.

The beautiful resort near Nha Trang city”

We booked this resort so far thought Agoda -about 330 days before depart for get early booking discout about 20%. Take a express boat about 15 minutes will go there. It has a private beach, On day a lot of boat shedule round trip depart from island to port and back from 6 a.m. They got all staff's training from Best Western group. Only thing made we disapointed was they checked in so slowly because we arrived at around 8.30 a.m but we can not get a room unstill 2 p.m. On islands has a lot of coconut trees and so beautifull beach. We love their beach very much. We stayed in 2105 room with the best Nha Trang bay view. It located on 2 floor - the bungalow with higher than 1 floor. With a large bathroom outside bungalow which make you feel that take a bath in garden. We love Hon Tam resort so much and will come back again.

Holiday destination weekend”

Merperle Hon Tam resort has a pristine beach with clear blue sea, an interesting place to think for the weekend. Enjoy the peace and privacy of the sea-view bungalow with many amenities. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of service as well as the friendly help of resort staff. I will come back again if we have time :)

Beautiful island retreat ”

the island of hon tam can be reached by a ferry from the harbour in nha trang, which runs on the hour through most of the day and is free for guests. hon tam is the perfect place to relax and get a break from the noise and crowds of the nha trang. it is pricier than nha trang and caters for the high end travellers. the resort has a large pool and private beaches with plenty of deck chairs and wooden hammocks to lounge on. it is the perfect place for couples looking to an intimate break and as a private island you are not bothered by any of the people hawking for business. only drawback of the island was that the food could of been better.

We spent our honeymoon at Hon Tam Resort in April 2009 and had the best time! Everyone there looked after us very well and the attention to detail was just spectacular. The facilities have been thought out very well and the bungalows have lovely wooden finishes with a spectacular outdoors bathroom. Another nice feature is the reception on the mainland from where you get transferred by speed boat to the actual island. The food in the restaurant was delicious as well. All in all we really enjoyed the honemoon and the time at Hon Tam.

Nice secluded place and luxurious nature”

We spent 3 nights at Hon Tam Island Resort splitting our vacation into three different places. So that one was the last and chosen on purpose - secluded, romantic, clean, safe and picturesque. We stayed there in early October - not the high season - so the place wasn't busy but the weather was still nice: lots of sunshine in the morning, a bit cloudy and sometimes rainy starting from 4-5 pm. The facilities and maintenance were good. Not a lot to do there except for enjoying the sea and water sports (kayaking is free), two big nicely designed swimming pools (min 1.45 m, max 1.60 m), one of which is located in an entertainment area open at daytime for visitors from the mainland, and their spa. The only negative experience we had were numerous birds nesting on the huge tree next to our villa, so that every night the birds made us uncomfortable with all kinds of weird sounds on the roof (I hope those were the birds) and every morning our balcony was covered with a thick layer of their excrements cleaned by the hotel staff before noon.

Just amazing. Unfortunately we only had time for one night at this resort but in honesty we could have spent our whole 4 week holiday here. Because the resort is on it's own island about a 10 minute boat trip to the mainland and then short taxi ride to Nha Trang we never went to the main centre. The resort is amazing and we were treated like royalty as soon as we entered their pier. There is plenty to do here such as water sports, beach, pool, tennis court, golf driving range and their very own hot air balloon! There weren't many guest at the time and so we managed to swim in the pool with noone else in it (and it's a very large pool. The bungalows are amazing too. Fantastic views of the resort and beach. Absolutely amazing.

Great property, amazing experience ”

On one hand where I feel that this property is overpriced, it still makes up for the experience! Just knowing that you live in the only hotel on an island! Although Nha Trang city is a great city, living on an isolated island is a great feeling! Staff is courteous and polite. They’re always happy to help! What could be improved on is that since the hotel guests pay so much more for an experience like this they should be given priority for the entertainment area which gets taken over by the hordes of Chinese tourists who come for day trips! I know it’s still revenue for the hotel but in every hotel, in-house guests always have priority! For many water sports, in house guests have to pay which should have been free considering that the hotel is very expensive! They should also have a separate area for these day trippers! Because they spread all over the resort and create a big ruckus! The worst part was that we had to witness some of these day tripping adults making their kids excrete!

It is nice but ...”

Pros: Free speedboat every hour from mainland to Merperle. New mudbath area. Friendly staff. Huge breakfast can last for whole day. Free shuttle from reception to your room. Hot water with stoney bathtub is really nice. Good place to relax/family activity. They update info about water sports like banana boat, flying board, jetski, parasailing ... Cons: Mosquito!! There are around 8-10 mosquitos in my room (ocean view). I couldnt kill them all. They keep coming back. Both me and my wife got bitten. Noise from boats running in the morning. I dont think this is Merperle fault since we booked the ocean view room. However, the noise from boats running on the ocean in front of the room woke me up every morning. Info about buffet next to mudbath area. I tried to get more info about the buffet but i have no clue. It is not on the website about $ or time.

Great Place”

Fantastic place for some rest, I came here for a few days to relax after riding from HCMC. The private boat picks you up from their private jetty and it’s only a 7 minute boat ride to the resort. Once their you are greeted by one of the hotel managers who is so helpful, I was given a short deluxe golf cart to my room, it was close to the main reception. The private bungalow so super clean with the A/C running when you get there. Restaurant was well priced, breakfast also a great selection, breakfast included in the price. Staff were friendly and very engaging. I was there in November, loads of people during the day, not a lot of people at night. You can catch the free resort boat every hour from 8:00am to 11:00pm back to the port to Nah Trang and back to the island on the half hour 8:30 to 10:30pm. Would definitely come back, prices well worth the stay.

Great for a getaway”

The resort is located on a private island with free shutter speedboat every hour to go back and forth between the island and Nha Trang city. We went here on national holiday but didn't feel crowded and disturbed at all. The beach was very clean and beautiful. However I think the equipment in our room was a bit old, especially the bathroom with somehow poor drainage. But it didn't disturb our stay at all. Food was good. Must try: Spinach pizza!

Peacful and fun”

My family and I enjoyed our three night stay at Hon Tam. We were a bit nervous that we would feel too secluded on an island, but with the shuttle boat leaving every hour, it was manageable. It was so quiet and peaceful out there. And the beaches were spectacular. Very clean with nice, clear water. We even did a bit or snorkeling right off the main beach and saw several schools of tropical fish and a lot of coral. The pool is also very nice. The staff speaks excellent English, and the room is very clean. The bathroom is exposed to the outdoors, but we really enjoyed feeling a little closer to nature. Our only complaint was how expensive the restaurant was--especially since it is the only option on the island. After one very over-priced lunch, we went ashore for all lunches and dinner. (This can be a bit of a pain with two young children.) I think we will stay at Hon Tam again, but we may wait until the kids are a bit older and no longer need an afternoon nap.

Best Hotel in Vietnam... minus the misquotes ”

i stayed here with my partner in jan 2012. i had previously been in thailand and my travels in vietnam, didn't live up to the luxury to thailand. however, this hotel didn't disappoint we recharged here watching movies in the rooms, and strolling the private beach which would have been the best part of all. it rained almost our whole stay, but we maganeged to get some sunlight on the last day and made use of it by the absolutely amazing pool and the free kayaks in the ocean which by far would have been the highlight for us. this place is amazing, and it would have been even more amazing if we had arrived in better weather. free life jackets and kayaks were honestly such a small but amazing thing for us. when we first arrived there were staff members smoking and talking extremely loud outside our bedroom, which i was not impressed with. this continued the same morning with garden staff sweeping outside our bedroom; which was somewhat - don'tfrustrating because all we wanted to do was sleep. however, they let us check in early at 7am after our horrific night bus journey do it! - which was fantastic. we used the restaurant, room service, movies and massage. definitely a fabulous place to stay if you are passing by nha trang. we found we didn't like nha trang and would have skipped it ... however, because we hadn't we were so happy we stayed here. it was lovely.

Amazing Tropical Paradise”

The Hon Tam Resort is truly a tropical paradise...probably the most beautiful of accommodations and grounds I've experienced.

Lovely at night, a nightmare during the day”

MerPerle after 5.30pm is delightful. It’s serene, peaceful and away from the mainland of Nha Trang. This issue is during the day. Starting around 9am boatloads of day trippers descend on the island, and while they’re supposed to stay on that side of the island, it’s not unusual for them to be found taking selfies from your private verandah and generally being intrusive. Additionally a number of the inclusions they provide in their descriptions are non existent. There is only one restaurant and while the breakfasts are plentiful, the menu for dinner is limited and becomes a tad repetitive if you stay longer than 3 nights. The staff there are however delightful. A lot of renovations are currently underway and a suggestion would be to close off the opening to the bathrooms between the villas. You cannot see in, but to hear others evening ablutions is a little disconcerting.

Excellent holidays time with familly”

We had a perfect time with my familly at Merperle resort. I believe they did a a lot of change in management as I read some bad reviews about that. We were all happy, location is great, staffs were great and the villa was nice. No kitchen in the villa, so you can't cook your own foods.

Island Paradise 😀”

Myself and 2 other friends stayed on the island for 2 nights on Monday and Tuesday of this week (April 18th - 20th). It was absolutely beautiful. Beach front property, water views from our bungalow and the staff were very friendly and attentative. It was only a short 15 minute boat ride from the main land. Mer Perle have their own dock which is just around the corner from where you jump on the cable car to the Vinpearl. Highly recommend staying here as it escapes you from the hustle and bustle of Nha Trang.

Great hotel to get away but terrible food”

For the most part, I enjoy staying at Hon Tam. But in no way would I stay there again. It's absolutely far away from everything. If you want to get back on the island you would have to take a boat back and forth. And it's only available at certain times during the day. If you want to enjoy the nightlife in Nha Trang, you're out of luck. The last trip back to the island is 11pm. That means you'll have to stop whatever you're doing around 10pm and take a cab back to the boat. The food is absolutely the worst food I have ever had at any hotel. It's horrendous considering it's a 5 star resort. Even the staff that I talked to admitted to this. Not just the breakfast, but even food from the menu was bad. And you won't have any options either as the mainland is too far away. The rooms were great, but if you catch bad weather, it could be a disaster. It was windy the last night we were there. We woke up to what we thought was a huge storm that we slept through because we were covered in dust from the roof. The roof is made of palm leaves, so all the debris will come down when it’s disturbed.
