Peaceful retreat”

Really enjoyed our time at Merit. Highlights were the private beach area (no sandy beach here, but free deck chairs with a stunning view of waves crashing against boulders), the breakfast view, and the neighboring vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant vikasa life cafe (that has the same amazing view). It’s a quiet location with the best view we had in Koh Samui. No free airport shuttle which would’ve been nice, and from the photos we thought the room we were getting would have a full ocean view, which it didn’t , but that might have been our misunderstanding. The breakfast was nice because it was the first hotel we stayed at that served brewed coffee vs instant, and someone would cook you a personalized omelet upon request. Also has the nicest staff of all the hotels we stayed at including the shuttle drivers who waited to make sure we found our way to the beach (we didn’t, and they pulled up and drove us to the right location). Very nice, hardworking people there.

Love the Seaview rooms”

Our stay here was pleasant greeted with nice and friendly staffs. This resort is so beautifully built-up on a cliff facing the rocky ocean. The resort comes with a private rocky beach with is not suitable for swimming but great for taking photos on the rocks. The rooms were fabulous with seaview at sunrise direction. The cleanliness of the room is not up to standard as we had a cockroach on the bed on our first night. Thankfully the hotel staffs allow us to change room and we got a better room with jacuzzi bathtub in working condition as the first room jacuzzi bathtub was not working. The location is not near anywhere but there is a small minimart opposite, yoga, cafe, pub and a seafood restaurant 6mins walk away. Not near chaweng or lamai Market. The resort only provide foc shuttle to lamai on Sundays. U will have to get ur own transport to the night market which will be expensive to get bcos you will have to bargain with the taxi drivers. There is buggy car service from ur Hotel room to the concierge if not u can choose to take the long stairs... The dinner at this resort was delicious. The breakfast was delicious too, with Seaview.

Bad services”

Early check-in is impossible despite the plenty of empty rooms. Only one car (not enough during rush hours) for transferring between the room and the lobby which is far from each other. Only overpriced taxi service is available at the place if you want to go somewhere else from the resort. The television is very old even in the deluxe room. The staff are being too nosy when you want some privacy they come to talk. Not professional. Buffet line is very cheap and very few options. The jacuzzi is broken. Only just for taking bath. They chose the room with a bad view instead of many other empty rooms with a lot nicer view. The resort can be a lot better with the location and places but it turned out to be a hugh disappointment since they didn't care about the customers. The main focus went to the restaurant instead of the hotel itself. If anyone's looking to have a great time please go check some other options

Resort with a spectacular view aura”

a) The resort's panoramic view of the sea from the resort's lobby as well as from the seaview room. b) The ostentatious pool that is overlooking the sea as your thirst is being quenched by drinks from the pool bar. c) The fascinating jacuzzi facilities provided in each room, exceptionally for people who needs some water jet reflexology after a tiring day out.
a) The steep and tiring climb up of the stair steps. For those who can optimistically take this as a form of exercise, it would not be a dire concern. b) The inavailability of long sandy beach, as the resort is perched on hard rocks with little access to the beach.

It is always advisable to rent a car or a bike whilst you are in Koh Samui, as it makes travelling so much easier to all scenic spots around Samui. With this vehicle, the location of this resort would not pose a concern as although it is off Chaweng town, the access time is shortened tremendously to only 5 - 10 mins. The most outstanding feature of this resort has to be the panoramic view from the seaview room. As we entered the room, the spectacular view of the whole wide sea from the balcony bewowed us. Hence, although we will have to pay slightly more for seaview rooms as contrast to the hidden rooms, we find every of our penny worthy. From the washroom, the ostentatious jacuzzi with wide window overlooking the sea is also a known attraction of the resorts. You can enjoy the wondrous invigorating feeling as you submerge your lethargic bodies in jacuzzi whilst sipping a glass of wine. Our other enjoyment is swimming in the marvellous pool with a water jet like reflexology by the fringe of the pool whilst enjoying the sea view and sunset. The setbacks however, would be the spa facilities, as although the resort has a spot availed for spa relaxation, it is always close and prior arrangement has to be made for the masseur to come. Given that, we infer that the facilities would not be too popular and did not dare to venture for its facilities. For those who prefers to have a long sandy beach, this resort would not be advisable, as it is devoid of a pristine long beach and mostly surrounded by big boulders. We had decided to choose this resort nonetheless, as we had stayed at Chaweng for the beach before and decided to have a different feel altogether. Overall, the stay in this resort has been pleasant and worth the money spent. The resort should do more active promotions for its restaurants, as I find that the restaurants are not as popular as that of the other resorts.

Paradise on a cliff”

Staff, view, location, food.
None

We stayed at the Samui Cliff view Resort for the 09/10 New years period and to say we were happy is an understatement. We stayed at 3 separate resorts during our time in Samui, and this was by far our favorite. Nestled up on the cliff between Chaweng and Lamai, Cliff view Resort provides a stunning view of Chaweng beach, and is spectacular in its own right. The staff are unbeliveably helpful and friendly, couldnt do enough for us throughout our stay - the food was some of the best I have sampled in my 3 trips to Thailand, and was very reasonably priced. Although I am against spending time couped up in a resort, it certainly gave you no reason to search for decent food outside of it if you are that way inclined. The rooms were fantastic, with our own spa in the room itself overlooking the ocean, and they provided a free shuttle service daily to Lamai which we used more often than not. I would highly reccomend the Cliff view resort to anyone looking for something out of the main areas, but close enough to access when ready.

Climb up the stairs

Among 4 hotels that we stayed in Samui Island, Samui Cliff View Resort & Spa is the best hotel that we enjoyed very much. Dispite the warm, polite & hospitality of hotel staff, beautiful cliff view, with jaguzzi in room, nice swimming pool. Shuttle bus provided to Lamai Town. If we did not made any arrangement with other hotels in advance, for sure we want to extend our stay here. Thumbs up! Definitely we want to came back again.

The view is very good”

The room we are staying is facing the sea and when you lie in bed, you can see the blue sea. i can still remember that day as the whether is almost the best during our stay at Samui.
I dont like their food very much. Breakfast is ok but not satisfied. Thai dish is too sweet for us but western food is ok.

It was the last day of our stay at Samui and we actually returned from Koh Tao. Overall, I would say this hotel is nicely decorated and the view is very good. Just after so many days' staying at Koh Samui and Koh Tao, we are very used to the beatiful sea. But the good thing about our last day is that the weather is very good and the color of the sea is the nicest. I don't like their food much but i think maybe Samui's food, overally, is too sweet for us. And i did not find it inconvenient as other reviews said.

Big rooms, nice pool, great service

We've been to Samui Cliff View Resort & Spa for our firts 2 night in Samui with our 3 and 8 month boy and 1 and 7 month little boy. We've booked the beachfront villa which is a large villa on the beach with large bed and very nice bathroom with hot-tub. We've also got a baby cott as we asked when we booked. The hotels is loacated on a very steep cliff and the access to the resturant, the pool and the reception is very difficult, especially with kids but the staff was very kind and always came to pick us up. Overall, very nice hotel, very good staff.

Nice bungalows”

great breakfast, nice staff

This is very nice resort, it's on the rocks so you have many steps from your bungalow to the front desk, but you will probably rent a scooter and than you don't have to climb up every day. Bungalows are very nice, rooms are big enough, breakfast is very good and the dining room is on the very nice location... This is probably the best location on Samui if you are looking for some quiet place. There is a very nice infinity pool but there is no beach so don't come to this hotel if you are expecting beach. You can go to any beach by scooter and it would be a shame if you don't visit as much beaches as possible We had problem with Internet for the first 3 days of our staying and I was very upset because I needed Internet for my job. That is the main reason why I'm not 100% satisfied with this resort. Staff is great and they helped us with everything what we needed.

Wonderful Hotel!”

Loved the rooms, location, the restaurant had the best pizza on the island! Breakfast was great.

my husband, my 2 yr old daughter, and my parents took a short vacation to the samui cliffview resort and spa. we loved everything about the hotel. from the guest service to the decorations of the bathroom, we enjoyed it. the only downfall was that it rained for 3 days straight. we saw the sun for about 4 hours one morning, and we took advantage of it at the pool. the hotel was peaceful and great for a getaway from the busy chewang life.

The villas/bungalows are located on a hill next to the ocean, so you can enjoy an amazing view from the front desk, from the restaurant or even from the beautiful infinity pool with waterfall. Very quiet, big rooms, big beds, nice bathroom, but don't forget you are near the jungle, so great landscape and beautiful scented flowers are packed together with bugs, spiders, mosquitoes and big ants. The staff desk was very pleasant and offerred us a refreshing cold drink and cool towel when we arrived, made our registration easy and decorated the bed. The breakfast buffet is good and even there is not really much internet in your room, you can use free wifi in the restaurant or at the pool. The hotel is quite far from Lamai or Chaweng Beach, but transportation is easy because there is a free shuttle car to go to Lamai center and back and there is also a free shuttle car to go to your room and back, so don't worry about the stairs. To go to the airport, you have to pay for the hotel car (Baht for 3 persons). For kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, elephant trekking, renting cars or scooters, thai massage, foot massage, muay thai, just cross the street and ask the lady from the office to help arrange all for you.

Great view n a nice place for honeymooners”

The view from the cliff, nice services, great food and calm

This will be one of hotels in which we would like to stay for those who'd like to enjoy fresh air,and superb view of its surrounding, though its quite far from lamai or chaweng beach, but transportation is all easy, from the hotel itself, there's a shuttle car for us to go to lamai and back. As for the hotel itself, overall its clean and tidy coz my wife couldn't stand it if its dusty coz she's allergic to it,we stay there for three nights and sleeps just like a baby hahhaha and ofcourse we're enjoying the jacuzzy And for those who'd like to fgo for kayaking or snorkling and hiking, you can easily ask the lady in front of lobby's counter to help arrange all for you, offcourse with a bit extra charges as for her fee.. Overall, samui cliff view hotel is great and we're looking forward for our next stay there!!!

Samui Cliff Resort Hotel”

Peaceful Private small beach Very comfortable
Nothing particular

Samui Cliff Resort Hotel is a cosy hotel away from busy beach. The room is clean, tidy and very comfortable. The chef at the restaurant was so nice to us he cooked food for us as a special meals which were not listed on the restaurant menu. We were very impressed. We were happy to stay there, staff are very helpful and friendly we would return back to stay here again if we come to Samui in the future.

favourite hotel ever!”

lovely staff, lovely views

can't recommend this hotel enough! we were in southeast asia for 3 months and this was our favourite hotel by far. wonderful views of the bay and pretty bungalows. staff were incredible, especially the tour organiser bud, the reception staff were all lovely and we couldn't have survived without the shuttle driver. the only downside to the hotel is that it is situated on the cliff so its a steep walk back up to the road/reception from the room either by the steps or the steep hill. the shuttle driver will come collect you from your room and drop you bavk again by request tho. it costs 50 baht by songthaew (taxi truck) to chaweng and the hotel shuttle will drop you in lamai for free a few times a day
