Clean hotel, no breakfast for Ferry Travelers”
We stayed only 1 night at Mercure Hotel, in transit on the way to The Mentawais. We paid extra for the breakfast, but upon arrival we were told the Fast Boat leaves super early so we left the hotel at 5.20am to take the ferry to Tua Pejat. The breakfast box they offered had a portion of scrambled eggs and a black coffee only. Do not book the breakfast package if you are taking the ferry! Additional note: the fast boat actually departs for Tua Pejat at 7am. The website is incorrect and the staff at Mercure told us to arrive by 5.30am to secure tickets. At the moment, with the low tourism due to covid, there is no need to arrive to purchase a ticket before 6.30am In this case, you can book the breakfast and eat before you go! We wish we knew this. We were waiting 2 hours before the boat left (it was running late and left at 7.30am). The rooms at Mercure are clean and the bed is very comfortable with a nice firm mattress. Shower water pressure is great. We stayed in a room on the 6th floor and it was quiet and very comfortable. We ordered Beef Burgers in the restaurant for dinner which were a simple small patty in a cheap bun with a lettuce leaf. Not very gourmet or exciting at all (we expected at least slices of cucumber, tomato and grated carrot as per a usual burger!) Overall, it was fine for a 1 night stay over and a good nights sleep!

The TV was broke, but the room clean and comfy”
The TV was broken and I could have rung someone but in the end, decided that sleep was more important. The party in Cafe area until 11 pm meant that I didn't actually get to sleep though. Don't book 1st floor rooms on weekends.

Weekend getaway ”
Was very disappointed with the lack of communication with the staff internally. 1) we called the operator and asked what time the gym closed and they told us at 11pm. We came down at 9:15pm and to our disappointment, it’s closed at 9pm. We went to the lounge for a drink. We were greeted and welcomed by a fantastic staff Rahmat. Very knowledgeable and great service. Good job. 2) we got back to the hotel from a 3 hour drive and it was at about 12:10 midnight. We went to the reception and ask if the restaurant is still open and what time it closes. I was told that the restaurant closes at 1am. So, we went to the restaurant at about 12:15am and to our surprise, they told us it’s closed and they are setting up for breakfast. The hotel management definitely need to look into this matter. If it says close at 1am, I assume the last order is 12:30am. So, 12:15am is still acceptable. We were very hungry and disappointed. The management definitely needs to look into this matter.

Mercure is a well known global hotel brand with a very distinct architecture, room layout, color, ambience, and facilities. Mercure padang is not so different from other mercure in other cities. Location is very close to padang beach. Overall was a positive experience. Mercure is never dissapointed.
