Everything is good only issue was the mosquito”
The whole room and location was fantastic. Staff were friendly and easy to communicate. Only issue was that there was too many mosquitos in the room. TV was a bit wonky but who travels to watch TV? Hahaha

Pleasant Stay”
I reserved suite room but not the same with what's shown on picture. Suite room as shown on picture is located on 2nd floor. Mine is on 1st floor. It is rather small than I imagine it would be, be the suite room on 1st floor has better ambience. It's just quite noisy in the morning. You have lots of people chatting loudly for hours in front of your door every morning. I stayed for 4 nights. Oh Gosh! Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also pretty good. I like the interior of the Guest House. Not having TV cable is certainly a huge minus for us as my husband and I like to watch HBO, Fox channel, CNN etc everywhere we go.

Need to send the receptionist staffs into dentist”
I am bit surprise with the look of the room. It definitely need some fixing, especially in the bathroom; it was smelly because the draine was broken. The room was not clean enough for my standard. The last time I stayed in the property was not nice due to their poor management and the attitude of their staffs was bad, but at least the room was clean.

feels like home”
Merbabu Guest House is a perfect base to explore Malang city, it is in walking distance to Boulevard Ijen, the military museum and the Sunday market. To go to the history musum, City Hall and bird / flower / fish market you can easily take a pedi-cab (5-10mins). The staff was amazingly friendly and spoke English very well. They made me feel very welcome and comfortable, and helped me with all my questions. Rooms were very clean, the bed perfectly comfortable and the shower had good pressure and proper hot water. I booked a Bromo tour and Batu / rainforest tour through their reception. They work with a local partner company who made these tours a really great and special experience. The only downside was that all rooms face the small, beautiful inner yard which is also the restaurant / breakfast / lounge area. So it can get a bit noisy in the morning.

Best hotel in Indonesia”
It was my best stay during my trip in Indonesia even though Malang is not very interesting but I have to say that all in Merbabu Guest House was nice, peaceful and well organized !!!! AnD the best, the staff was helpful, attentive and cheerful that made me so satisfied. Don't hesitate if you plan to visit Malang this is the place to stay!!!! And if you are not happy I could not understand you!!!!

We booked Merbabu Guest House after reading the amazing reviews on here. Our stay exceeded our expectations beyond belief. For us this trip had been planned for a while and definitely worth the wait. From the moment we stepped through the front door we were treated like we were the only people in the hotel and nothing was a problem. We did not see our cases again until we reached our room. Our room was amazing and the turn down service is very special. We will definitely be returning to this special hotel and will highly recommend Merbabu Guest House to anyone.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at merbabu. unfortunately we only stayed one night as we were driving from yogya to surabaya - we were so impressed that we will make another trip to malang and stay at merbabu longer, next time we come to indonesia. we were pleasantly surprised, as the guest house looked even better in real life than in the photo.

Truly homely guest house with a touch of luxury”
We learned from the staff that the property was only recently renovated into a guest house - minimalistic style but warm and charming. The room with twin beds that we stayed in the first two nights was small, but for the third and last day of our stay they managed to transfer us to a room with a terrace and a king size bed which made our stay more pleasant. One staff in particular, Rene, was very helpful giving us advice on how to get around and even helped purchase food products from their pasar. Malang region is nice and if we have the chance to make another visit, Merbabu Guesthouse will be our choice of stay.

For a two stars hotel it is fantastic”
Three C's to describe this place are cute, chic, colonial, and comfy.. Cute because this place decoration reflect the cuteness of piece of art, simply every corner of this hotel is piece of arts. Chic because of the place just so romantic, and although never intended, we feel at a second honeymoon. Colonial because this place was ex the Dutch resident house, who was purchased by the famous Ongkowijoyo family, a conglomerate and owner of this family house from 1940 and finally comfy because the room make us reluctant to move away. To be honest this guest house just had almost everything except lack of swimming pool (honestly we knew). There is a park with playground as a bonus for couple with young kids right in front of this guest house. We would definitely visit this place again if we go to Malang.

Very comfortable with charm and character”
This guest house is very well updated with well-preserved character of the original building. The attention to detail is very apparent, not to mention that the rooms and common areas are cleaned very thoroughly - especially if it rains. We reserved the small suite, but due to booking coincidence this room was already booked when we arrived. For our first night the staff prepared their largest double room with an extra bed for our child at no extra charge. This room also had a covered, private patio that was perfect for extra space. The next day the staff moved our belongings up to the suite room, and we were pleasantly surprised with this room as well. It has too large rooms that are perfect for a small family. The couch turns into a small bed that easily accommodated our 4 year old. Both of our rooms were quiet and pleasant. We enjoyed the breakfast and afternoon snacks that are provided with the room. The common areas are very comfortable for reading working or talking over coffee/tea. Our 4 year old was also entertained by the staff who let him feed the fish and made origami animals. Right across the street is the Merbabu Family Park (which could use some updated play equipment, but still a great space). Our only complaint was that we had someone (mistakenly?) try to enter our room at 2:30am. We gathered he had the wrong room. Overall, we would highly recommend this guest house. I wish we could have stayed longer.

truly, the best part of staying at the merbabu, was the restaurant the staff recommended. a short walk down the street brought us to a great european restaurant where the meals were superb! the guest house was lovely too, though, and we'll definitely stay there the next time we're in malang. internet worked great.

Fantastic place for a Fantastic price”
Merbabu Guest House was clean, in a great location, kind staff and a good breakfast. I would, and already have, recommend the Guest House to others. It was located across the street from a small park and within a very quick walk of several places to eat and an Alpha Mart. The family room was accommodating to a family and the single rooms were comfortable. The staff was helpful and kind. I would stay there again.
