Probably the Best Hotel in Davao City”

When I planned for a business trip in Davao, my colleague who's also joining the trip, wanted to book the best hotel in the city. And we definitely made the right choice to book Marco Polo Hotel. During check-in, we were informed that we have been upgraded to a De Luxe room. We only booked Superior so to be upgraded to the next room type, was good news indeed. The hotel staff from check-in to housekeeping, including the staff at Cafe Marco (for breakfast buffet) - have all showed the best customer service that a guest would expect from hotels like Marco Polo. This hotel serves a good veriety for its Breakfast Buffet. It has already been mentioned in previous reviews by so many other guests, but let me say it again: Marco Polo Hotel in Davao serves really good breakfast. By this reason alone, the hotel should be recommended.

A miniature Shangri-la in Davao”

The look and feel of the hotel will remind you of EDSA Shangri-la in Manila, but only smaller in size. The rooms are well maintained just like five-star hotels. It has a flat TV screen, complimentary bottled water, complimentary coffee and tea, personal amenities, and complimentary room slippers. Our hotel package came with buffet breakfast at Cafe Marco. We enjoyed our stay and liked the hotel's ambience. The hotel staff were courteous, attentive, and hospitable. It was also easy to get a taxi cab from the hotel. Housekeeping was quick to attend to our requests. Nice view from the hotel room too. Our room's security vault wasn't working and I wonder why they locked the personal refrigerator. We didn't need them so we didn't bother calling their attention about it. Buffet breakfast at Cafe Marco was good, but they didn't replenish some of the dishes. We told the understaffed waiters to refill the hot chocolate and native chocolate pots, but they didn't do it. We also asked if danggit will be replenished again, but didn't get any. You will have to pay for the Internet wi-fi, if you would like to access it. Hotels in the Philippines should really rethink about charging customers Internet fees. Hotels in Taipei that belong to a lower class than Marco Polo offer free wi-fi access even in guest rooms. People nowadays are wired and access to the Internet is as basic as TV viewing. Overall, we liked the hotel. We would recommend it highly to others and would love to stay in Marco Polo again if we return to Davao city.

A dream place waiting to be Found”

The Marco Polo Davao Hotel Davao is a very good hotel. The location in the middle of the town and can view the ocean from the upper floors is just breath taking. The hotel staff (Front Desk, Bell Boys, Room Service etc.) are very helpful and as well as polite in every way. Always with a smile make your trip a pleasure. Just that alone makes the trip worth being in the hotel with the price being worth the stay. It is the best place in town. If your in Davao by all means go there you will never regret it. The hotel is very clean in every way and just a all round great place to rest your head. As I looked at the other hotels in the area this is the all round best with out a doubt. Its just the place you want to be. A great place to lay your hat. You will enjoy your stay.

Elegant Hotel that granted all my service request.”

marco polo offered excellent service regularly and special requests when asked. the internal environment, all areas of the hotel, were beautiful and well maintained. although it was located in the downtown davao area i always felt like i stepped into an oasis when inside the hotel restaurants, pools and guest rooms. the lazuli spa was one of the best experiences of my stay and i frequented it many time because of the reasonable rates, the spa itself was 4 star! the security was unmatched and while the prices were reasonable for what you get the marco polo gave me anadditional 20% discounts for food and beverages and 10% at spa because i was a long staying guest (15 days). i have stayed in other hotels in davao and know i will return to the marco polo for future visits.

The 5 Star Hotel in Davao City”

every time i visit davao city, i always stay at the marco polo davao hotel. i believe this is the only 5 star hotel in davao city. although it is over 10 years already but the hotel is well maintained and looks new. location is the key because it is situated in the city centre. only few blocks of walking and you are right in the chinatown area. the ateneo de davao university is just across the street. and there are stalls that sells everything from indonesia-malaysian fashion wears and accessories located across the hotel.

Marco Polo is the best and most luxurious hotel in Davao City. Its amenities are complete from a huge swimming pool, luxurious spa, gym, business centre and even a bar for the night life...The room is great too! Spacious and Cozy...My son feels happiest whenever we check in at Marco Polo Hotel Davao. Food was probably not that great but its more than good enough compared to others....Its a total treat for him...it is located in the heart of the city which is a big plus....For a total vacation, stay at The Marco Polo Hotel...Vacation at its Finest! :)

The physical apperance of The Marco Polo Hotel of Davao is not as great as i expected, i am from davao city but now residing at los angeles california, i witness how's the hotel was built and that was more than ten years ago, we celebrated our ten years allumni homecoming here on 1999, on my recent visit here (DEC 09, 2009) i dont see any major changes on their physical apperance or maybe i am not so observant enough to notice it, But those are only physical apperance. . . one thing that make this hotel as one of the worlds best are their staff itself from the security of the main entrance door thru the front desk... the way they greet their guest with a genuine smile in to their face. . . "the continental club access" is one of a kind, the food, drinks and other benefits that you served is worth the price, i've been in many hotel here in the u.s. but i've never experience a kind of complimentary meals that you served.

Exceptional”

As always, Marco Polo Davao never failed to amaze us. The room is stunning!!! The staffs are all wonderful. Especially the people of Continental Lounge. From Lali, to Josanne to the waiters (sorry forgot their names). We were having breakfast when an earthquake hit Davao. I was very very frightened but the staff of the lounge and the Room Attendants made me relax. They assured me that the building is safe, and there's nothing to worry about. I also want to commend the waiter who took two straight shifts (saw him the night before then saw him again early in the morning) and the Lobby Guard who also took two shifts. Congratulations Marco Polo - you have wonderful people working with you!! Last but not least, the always helpful Mr. Arvin, who made sure I and my family will have a very very relaxing stay. Thank you so much!!!

A great place to relax, while conveniently located and secured”

We stayed at Marco Polo for our 8th wedding anniversary and couldn't help but notice how strict and secure we felt thanks to the hotel security personnel. Compared to other security guards we encounter at other hotels and malls, Marco Polo guards follow strict security procedures such as checking the insides of your car and the contents of your suitcase to ensure nothing gets snuck in. The hotel itself is old but has aged well. We found the room comfortable, and the hotel conveniently located around pharmacies, eateries, and banks. The bed wasn't as comfortable as we expected, but it's a minor issue. We'll definitely consider this hotel again for future trips to Davao City.

very nice hotel in Davao”

the Marco Polo is pretty much the only descent hotel in Davao so it's not like you have any choice :) that being that, the staff at MP is execptionnally well trained, always friendly and efficient. the Pool side also also very impressive the pool is huge probably 20-25m and at the 7 floor... usually pools that high are so tiny : ) the restaurants are very good , i'd recommand the chinese one and the grill along the pool. I found the breakfast buffet very weak however. The rooms are getting a bit warn out, as the hotel must be around 10 years old, so it would be some refurbushing... it's still clean and fine, but it could become a problem within the next 4 years. But overall thumbs up to the marco polo, without it wonder where we'd sleep in Davao! : )

Relaxing and pleasant 10-day stay”

This is about my fourth stay at Marco Polo, Davao. Obviously, I like the hotel and its services. The huge, highly varied buffet breakfast is the highlight of the day. The housekeeping service was consistently and helpful with friendly, courteous attitude. Only negative thing about 10 day stay was at checkout when it took about 30 minutes and several requests to get a bellboy to get the bags from our room. If the price is reasonable, we'll be staying at the Marco Polo on our next trip to Davao, the hometown of my wife.

Still the best in Davao”

Marco Polo Davao is still one of my favorite hotels in Davao. It's quite expensive but it is worth the value for money. The security is thorough and the staff members are all friendly and approachable. Moreover, the ambiance is classy and very clean. Their rooms are quite big, internet connection is strong, and the facilities are well-maintained. The checking-in process is fast as well. Whenever there is a promo for their rooms, I would always try to get one. Keep it up, Marco Polo Davao!

Luxurious accomodations, accessible to shopping.”

Wonderful, sophisticated, and comfortable. We enjoyed city comforts at Marco Polo Hotel after spending fun but rustic and rather basic accommodations in rural settings. Shopping was especially convenient , as we only had to cross the street to get to a major shopping mall for local and indigenous crafts. We would have stayed longer, but unfortunately we were scheduled to fly out of Davao the following morning. We would highly recommend the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao to our friends and family.

Nice hotel, excelent service”

stayed at the marco polo hotel for twelve nights. good hotel situated in downtown area. had a room on 16th floor, smoke free floor, with a good view over mount apo and the central part of davao city. immense and very good buffet breakfast with all one can desire. excellent service and an inexpensive shuttle from and to the airport, same price by taking a taxi. nice pool and well equipped gym. did not use the lazuli spa but it looked good too. will surely stay her again if a come back to davao.

Marco Polo never failed to amaze me. I love Davao, but Marco Polo made me love Davao even more. The Continental Staffs were the best - Lali, Homer, Raul, Jayson - everybody. From the front desk to the waiters to my Favorite Chef. Arvin is the best person to talk to when in Marco Polo. He will always find a way to give to the best service you deserve. I am actually lost for words as I can no longer describe how special and wonderful our stay was when we there. I will forever be in love with Marco Polo Davao.

Although I had some concerns about the security given the recent terrorist bombing on 2 September very close to the Marco Polo, the security from the time we arrived to the time we left, was very effective and efficient. The standard of food and drinks was so terrific at the Pool bar that we ended up wining and dining only there, apart from our final night in Davao where the four of us dined in the wonderful restaurant on Level 4 overlooking the pool. The staff are fantastic - so wonderfully friendly and very professional. My mother and I love the Marco Polo all round - in addition to the fantastic staff, the delicious food, the reasonably priced wine and the delicious fresh mango daiquiris made by Lawrence and the very comfortable and well appointed bedroom, the location of the hotel is great.

Best hotel in Davao!”

If ever you travel to Davao, Marco Polo is the best. The security is tight surrounded with security guards, K9 dog, and policemen. Very convenient to souvenir shops, ATM machines, fruit shops and G Mall shopping centre. Room is nice and we got the sea view. Excellent customer service, free wifi during our week long stay, public transportation is just outside the hotel and breakfast and dinner buffets were good and lots of variety. Swimming pool was good. We were lucky that we arrived during Kadayawan Festival celebrated on every 3rd weekend in August. The fluvial street dancing and floral parade is just outside the hotel and Marco Polo guests have viewing stand. The downside is local phone call is with flat rate charge per call. Restaurants are not nearby.

Excellent Hotel”

I have visited the Philippines twice now and this was my first stay at The Marco Polo. I found it to be an excellent hotel in a good location within Davao City. Other than the Cons I mentioned before it is truely a 5 star hotel. It has all the services you would expect at a very reasonable price. The only problem I encountered was noise from a family staying in the room above me however, the staff were on it right away and were also very apologetic. All staff were friendly and the security was high (if not a little over board). The best feature for me was the female staff. I have never stayed at a place where ALL the female staff were so gorgeous. It is a great place to relax at the end of another hot and humid day in the Philippines.

My Home in Davao City”

I've tried a lot of hotels in Davao City but only Marco Polo stands out. The location is very central and safe. The rooms are all well maintained and at par with other international hotel chains. The breakfast buffet is just marvelous. Must try is the pasta at the Pool Bistro. Marco Polo Davao, my home in Davao City.

Affordable, High Quality Hotel.”

Our choice of staying at Marco Polo Davao was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Davao. Everything from airport transportation, to the spacious rooms, and speedy internet access was well thought out, ensuring comfort and ease of access in mind. A nice touch. I honestly can't think of any reason why anyone visiting Davao would skip Marco Polo. It's high-quality and affordable. A marriage of terms you don't normally see. I look forward to visiting again, hopefully in the near future.
