Paradise found at Mango Bay!”
phu quoc island was a last minute addition to our trip, and we're so glad we chose mango bay as our tropical island escape! set around a small cove near ong lang beach, mango bay is about 8km from the airport and is accessed from a dusty road through a mango orchard. mango bay is an ecofriendly resort, using solar panels and organic/recycled building materials throughout their facilities. the veranda bungalow we stayed in was perfect: clean, basic bathroom, comfortable bed, and a deck overlooking the water. there was no a/c but fans that kept us cool at night. service at mango bay was 5-star, with staff going above and beyond to ensure you had a pleasant stay. for example, when you first arrive, the resort manager gives you a brief orientation about their facilities while you sip on complimentary fresh juice, and use a scented towlette to freshen yourself. another perk, each room comes with a straw bag with 2 beach towels and complimentary sunscreen, which was a really nice touch. finally, rooms are checked twice-a-day: in the morning to make your bed and replenish towels, and at night to setup the mosquito net around your bed and burn citronella coils for added comfort. this is the type of service you will expect at mango bay. food at the restaurant was some of the best we had in vietnam, with plenty of choices and even a separate vegetarian menu. prices are not cheap, but considering the portions, service, and quality, i'd say it was reasonable. now, for the beach... our main goal at phu quoc was to bum it on the beach all day and that's exactly what we did! imagine your own private cove, swimming in warm, crystal blue water, or sipping on a cocktail while lounging on one of the many cabanas dotted around the beach. we must have lost track of time because next thing you know, we witnessed an epic sunset over the gorgeous gulf of thailand. if you're looking to get away from the crowds, and an isolated beach vibe is what you're looking for, mango bay is for you!

Beautiful, tranquil eco-resort in paradise”
Mango Bay Phu Quoc is my favorite resort in all of Vietnam. For starters, the gorgeous location of the resort right on Ong Lang beach, on the West side of the island. Mango Beach is so peaceful, it's the perfect antidote to bustling Hanoi or Saigon. We stayed in a Plantation Bungalow, which was spartan but perfect for the island. Warning: there's no A/C, but there are copious amounts of fans and the sea breeze floating in through the windows. And the way the staff set up the rooms at night is fantastic! The outdoor bathroom/shower has to be seen to be believed - with its amazing tropical garden, you'll wonder why you'd ever shower indoors again! Food is fantastic at the resort, from the great breakfasts to the nightly specials. Thanks, Their cocktails are also to die for (think lots of lime, passion fruit, gin, and rum) and the bar staff is super-friendly. They've expanded the eating areas of both the Beach Bar and the main restaurant, so you can sit on the outside deck under the stars and eat dinner while listening to the waves crash onto the beach. The staff will go above and beyond the call of duty to celebrate a special occasion, so don't hesitate to ask for whatever you need. Thank you! We will definitely be back!

Mango Getaway”
A relaxing getaway is your reward for staying at the Mango Bay Resort. Reuniting with a College buddy from many years ago, we could not have selected a better resort to reminisce and solve world problems. There is not TV to distract, and with the ocean view from our Fisherman's Bungalow, why waste time watching TV ? The bathroom was a unique open air affair and added to the wonderful natural ambience. The Beach Cafe Chef is talented and the Food was so good, I ended up ordering the same item, a Vietnamese Curry Chicken Noodle dish, the second night. The wait staff created a very relaxed and fun dining experience. They truly love their job and were happy and very caring. The Cafe is right on the Beach and the whitewashed wooden furniture is a perfect touch. Operations Managers, John and Esna from South Africa, were wonderful hosts and gratefully offered help and assistance taking care of our needs during our stay as well as information on what to see on the island of Phu Quoc. The free snorkeling equipment at the Mango Bay was worth the price and we actually did see lots of different fish. But waves had stirred up the ocean's floor and the water was a bit merky. Although there is no air conditioning, the fans provided a refreshing cool breeze and I slept great. Also, the even and peaceful noise of the fans drowned out my friend's snoring from the other bed in our bungalow. If you wish to get away and relax, Mango Bay is a great choice.

Fantastic Stay in Paradise”
Fantastic stay at Mango Bay Resort. The resort had a free airport pick up if you stay more than 3 nights. We opted for a seaview bungalow, which was close to the beach and the main dining / reception area. The staff and manager Doi were very friendly and oriented us very well to the things we could do at the resort and outside the resort. Every night there was a turn down service where staff put down the mosquito netting and put out mosquito coils. The rooms were clean and the outdoor bathrooms were amazing. They had thought of various activities that you could do if you did not want to leave the resort (e.g. snorkeling, kayaking, kite flying, yoga, tai-chi, cooking classes). There were also options for tours if you wanted and a free shuttle bus (at certain timings) to go into town. The massage centre was also wonderful - open air (but definitely shielded from view), I opted for the Mango Bay signature massage and was blissfully "liquid" and relaxed. Sure you are paying resort prices, but the quality and quantity of food made it value for money. I'll definitely come back again and stay for longer. One tip I'd suggest is if you want to rent a motorcycle to explore the rest of Phu Quoc, please go get an international drivers license.

Exquisite Eco Resort”
My boyfriend and I stayed at Mango Bay for 4 nights. They provided free transportation from the airport to the resort with welcome smiles, refreshing towel and bottled water for us. Kai greeted us and spoke English very well. The food was excellent. The bungalow was charming to say the least. We stayed in R08, a rammed earth bungalow. At first I was skeptical about the outdoor bathroom, mosquito net over the bed, lack of phones, a/c, and TV but it was so relaxing not having these distractions. The outdoor bathroom was landscaped wonderfully and a unique experience within itself. The mosquito net was actually quite romantic and did it's job effectively. There are fans so it never got hot in our room and they provided mosquito coils every night. The beds were very comfortable as well. We encountered issues with our flight out of Phu Quoc. Our flight changed and we were going to miss our connection into Hong Kong. Du Xun Doi went over and beyond to make sure we caught the next flight. He spent endless hours getting it straighten out for us. It could have been a disastrous and a stressful situation for us but instead he handled it while we spent our last day diving. We returned that afternoon and found out he stayed past his shift to make sure it was resolved. We can’t thank you enough Du Xun Doi! The resort was serene, relaxing and peaceful. The staff simply put was phenomenal. I wish I could acknowledge all the specific names of the staff but to be honest EVERYONE was friendly and truly genuine. You could tell all of the staff enjoyed their job as they did provide exceptional service. Kuddo's to the ENTIRE staff. I’d highly recommend staying at Mango Bay Resort to anyone!

Excellent beach holiday”
We chose Mango Bay Resort as a place on the beach to unwind after a busy tour of Viet Nam and we were very happy with our choice. Mango Bay is an eco-resort and we enjoyed our comfortable rooms with ceiling fans and outdoor (private) bathrooms (the hotel upgraded us prior to arrival in order to ensure we'd have quiet rooms - a large family was checking in near our original rooms). The two restaurants were very good as was the service. We especially loved the snorkelling from the beach - not too much coral, but lots of colourful fish. We also took a boat trip to snorkel off some island reefs a short distance from the hotel. All in all, we were very happy with Mango Bay and highly recommend it as a good place to stay in Phu Quoc.

A secluded but romantic place”
We really enjoyed our staying at Mango beach. On the first day, it rained a little bit but it got cleared up after a while. We rented a motorbike which was available right outside the resort and ventured out Phu Quoc island. It was really fun and quite a new experience. The market was bustling with life and we tried all the local food, especially tropical fruits!! Well, at leat we had to try and see how the life was there. On a second day, we went on a tour and after that, pretty much stayed in the resort for the rest of our stay. The resort had everything you needed. including private beach, nice food, and drinks, etc. If a romantic time with your significant other or fun time with your family, Mango bay is a perfect place for it. The saffs are also very nice and considerate I highly recommend this place to whoever wants to go to Phu Quoc.

Lovely hotel, lovely location, great service”
mango bay is a truly lovely resort. don't expect über luxury, it is an environmentally friendly resort so no air con! and limited mod cons but that is part of the reason people stay its a fantastic, simple beach getaway, great prices, lovely location. great bar and restaurant.! fantastic service and they go out of their way to help you. it is a beautiful location, out of the town, but dong doung isn't a town geared up for tourists. there is much to discover on phu quoc and mango bay run trips, or will help you hire bikes (moped/motorcycle) which i would recomend if you have the confidence. the bar and restaurant in mango bay are superb. we stayed a week and there was more than sufficient variety.

The perfect Eco type of resort you could wish for”
Very simply our stay at the Eco friendly mango bay resort was excellent, from the moment we were met at the airport till the moment we checked out. Every staff member we met through our stay were hard working, polite, and friendly, and the restaurant and bar staff spoke very good English, You certainly felt like you were receiving a personal level of service. The quality of food served throughout the resort was excellent. Before our trip I had read reviews that said the restaurant was over priced, however from 150,000 dong ( around £5 ) the "Vietnamese corner" menu provided mouth watering exquisitely prepared food which easily compared with the 5 star food in Siagon! The menu catered for every taste, from rib eye steak, fish dishes, pizza, French fries, specials, this is just a small selection of what the whole menu provided. And again I have to point out, every thing is freshly prepared for you, no buffet trays of Luke warm food, like some resorts offer. The whole feeling of the mango bay resort was one of exclusivity, easily worth every penny! A totally relaxing and worry free experience considering we were 7000 miles from home. All services are charged to your room, and at checkout there is a choice to pay in Dong, Dollars, or credit card, very convenient indeed. Would I return again, definitely! The resort is a real gem!

Lovely long weekend ”
We had a great three nights at Mango Bay, wonderful breakfasts and loved the meal options. Staff at the activity centre were absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Mango Bay with Jenny. Pluses - Mango Bay itself, great beaches, super comfortable beds, so nice there was mosquito repellent provided everywhere. Loved the waste water recycling and lack of plastic. Excellent mojitos and good library and games On the downside - expensive (vnd 420000), flat G&T, Phu Quoc was more like a rubbish tip than a tropical paradise. Tragically sad, particularly the rubbish all over An Thoi islands and the dying corals Would definitely visit Mango Bay but would not return to Phu Quoc

A lovely retreat place”
I went with my mom for 2 night stay at Mango Bay. My mom usually has difficulty to sleep at hotel room, but at Mango Bay, she just fell into her sleep easily, I guess it was due to the feeling of going-back to the nature that Mango Bay brought us. You could hear the sound of the sea wave on and off the shore and and the melody of cricket chirping at night. The restaurant by the sea is also something you would hardly say no, with their abundant and unique fusion of Thai-Western-Vietnamese menu. Try a hotstone session at the spa, the masseur there have magic hands:P Last by not least, we were very content with the staff, especially the resort's tourguide who brought us whole-heartedly around Phu Quoc island for a day trip. She ended the tour at 7pm instead of 3pm just so we had more time to enjoy each of the place we were brought to.

Beautiful and Simple ”
The Mango Bay Resort is possibly the most perfect hotel I have ever stayed in. The location is beautiful and takes up a considerable stretch of coastline including three sandy bays dotted with rocks (full of rockpools to keep the children interested for hours). The rooms are set in beautiful gardens with grass and trees, spread out from each other so they never feel crowded. There are two restaurants and although the menu is largely the same in each of them it is big and varied enough to eat there every night if you want to without getting bored. The hotel is located on the West side of the island so you are treated to some really spectacular sunsets. The rooms are so comfortable, cool and breezy, a good size even for a family of 4 in a double room. The bathrooms are outside which is really special if you’re coming from a cold European country. But the thing I like the best was that Mango Bay makes real efforts to be as ecologically friendly as possible and it does this without compromising the feeling of luxury that you get from staying there. There is no TV in the room but if you are like us and travel with a computer and DVDs for the children this was not something we missed. There is wifi in all the rooms. There is no mini bar full of expensive things you don’t really want but might just eat or drink anyway. You can order drinks to your room and ice and keep them in your cool box. There is no buffet breakfast where you eat 3 times as much as you really want, instead there is a wide choice of breakfasts and they prepare it for you. There is no kettle – a flask of hot water is provided to your room every day. They also bring you cold drinking water, as much as you like, in glass jugs. I didn’t see a plastic bottle the whole time I was there. There are so many more things I would like to say but I have run out of space. You should go there, it's amazing.

Charming Resort, Superb Location”
A very individual, charming and relaxing resort in a superb, well maintained location. I stayed in one of the Plantation Bungalows at Mango Bay Resort for three nights in December 2011. The eco-friendly concept is well thought out and does not compromise comfort or enjoyment. The low density design means that there is plenty of room to find your own space. All of the accommodation nestles into the jungle at the rear and is nicely set back from the beach front. The bungalow was spacious and pleasingly equipped although not with the fancy fittings and decoration that you might find at the high-end resorts. The compensation for this is that you get a high-end resort feel at a much more affordable cost. The bathroom was of open air design outside of the main bungalow (although obviously not overlooked) which can be unusual if you have not experienced it but gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with friendly frogs and lizards. The resort has two food outlets with a main restaurant/ bar and separate beach bar. The food quality was of a very high consistent standard but the menu could do with a little more variety. If you are staying for more than a few days then you would probably want to find some alternative dining locations although the 'remotish' location of Mango Bay does not make this easy. The Beach Bar is a great spot for spending a happy hour watching the sun setting. The whole resort is beautifully maintained, the beach clean and the sea perfect for swimming and snorkelling. All of the Mango Bay staff I came across were friendly and attentive (which is not always the case in Vietnam). I would definitely recommend it.

Get here before it's too late! ”
Mango Bay is fantastic for travellers who want to chill out and escape from the tourist trail in Vietnam! The resort is well spread out along a lovely stretch of coast, which experiences beautiful sunsets. Its secluded location offers a real ‘get away from it all’ experience and the spa treatments and other amenities all contribute towards a truly relaxing ambiance. The rooms are very beautiful, but be warned it’s not for the faint hearted if your scared of the local wildlife or the heat. There outdoor connection and commitment to environmental principles may not suit everyone, especially is you are reliant on air conditioning. We loved taking the boat trip out to the corals (organised by Mango Bay) and would definitely suggest a trip to the south of the island to visit Sao Beach! If you’re brave you should travel by Motorbike! It’s a good opportunity to explore, and you should feel safe on the roads as the traffic is much less congested than other places on the mainland. We hired bikes from the resort for a very reasonable price. We also took a trip into town but it’s not really up to much, so you’re likely to spend mostly all of your evening at the resort. If you’re looking for something the best option is the night market where you should be able to try out some local cuisine. The food at Mango Bay was really fresh and tasty. There is a fantastic mix of fish and meat dishes, both of western and Vietnamese styles. The cocktails are also really top notch, with the resort claiming to have the best bar man on the island. We loved our time here, and left feeling relaxed and refreshed! Only sad thing is that there is real evidence of tourist development which may not be entirely sensitive to the local and social environment. Get here soon before this tropical paradise looses it’s unique charm!

Worth every penny spent! ”
The resort is located about 30 minutes away from Phu Quoc International Airport. It has its own beach area which allows my family and me to hop into the sea anytime we want. The room we've got (Fisherman Bungalow - Sea View) looks straight out to the sea. We are woken up to and put to sleep by the sound of waves kissing the shore. The room is clean and well-equipped with amenities that make our trip comfortable and worried-less. Breakfast was already included as part of the hotel fee and we love it - quality breakfast cooked with care. Staff are extremely helpful, hospitable and professional. We highly recommend Mango Bay Resort!

A lovely eco-hotel with friendly staff”
We enjoyed our stay and fallen in love with this resort. It doesn't like any other resort that we stayed. In the room you would not find any air cons, TV or fridges. The room is very clean and simple. They have such an amazing ocean view from their restaurant. Their menu is quite interesting. The staff here is very nice. They are willing to talk and answer any questions of yours. I think it's really cool. Next time coming to Phu Quoc island, I will choose Mango Bay for my stay.

fabulous”
I had a superb time at Mango Bay. The resort was extremely well run. We were greeted when we were dropped off by the airport shuttle bus and immediately offered an upgrade to save us moving from the Veranda room we had booked for the first three nights to the Plantation Bungalow (sea view) we had booked for the remaining 4 nights of our stay, which was unexpected and very welcome. What made this eco-resort special was the fact that you really felt you had got away from it all. The ocean views were to die for. Our bungalow was cleaned as if by magic when we went for breakfast - whatever the time. In a week we never saw the cleaners, yet they did an excellent job. This is an extremely well run and friendly resort, and I will certainly stay at Mango Bay again when I'm next on Phu Quoc. I would recommend hiring a motorbike to get to the centre of town. It takes about half an hour to walk to town from Mango, but the rocks (and dogs) can be difficult to negotiate. The private beach is clean and isolated and quiet.

Most relaxing vacation ever”
My second time to Phu quoc, the first was 10 yrs ago. What a great surprise, Mango Bay is truly a low density eco resort on a beautiful site/island. Swimming twice a day, early morning and late afternoon, the water warm, while the sun is rising or setting, unforgettable experience. At first I thought it might be too boring, but it turned out to be the best time to forget it all and return to nature. I truly appreciate the management and staff who make it so nearly perfect. Unintrusive but friendly and attentive service. I miss it as soon as I returned home. Note that if you expect swimming pool, aircon, ect., this place is not it. Not rough or anything, very comfy, but only if you enjoy nature and water/beach thing, and a few small lizards :)

Mango bay resort is a perfect choice for those who are looking for quiet and clean resort situated in the middle of a beautiful bay. Perfect for slowing down a bit by leaning on the Beach and enjoying the nice surrounding. The staff is very helpful, polite and kind. For a second visit to Phu Quoc island we would definetly choose Mango bay again.

Peace at Mango bay”
When I told people we were going to Phu Quoc for a romantic getaway, I heard mixed reviews. Either "It's lovely there, you'll love it!" or "It's boring, there isn't much to do but lay around on the beach all day." Well, both of those options sounded quite inviting, so we were off to stay at Mango Bay. It happened that we arrived there at the end of the rainy season, a month before high tourist season. This involved clear, crisp morning walks on the beach followed by afternoon showers spent lounging in the shelter of our bungalow porch reading books and enjoying each other's company. By late afternoon, enough clouds had cleared to reveal the splendor of a fiery sunset along the sea's horizon. Night brought on a torrent of unending rainfall to remind us that the rainy season wasn't over yet, and we found ourselves drawn to the resort's seaside restaurant/bar/cafe, where other guests had gathered for food and wine and a warm and comfortable atmosphere. When we returned to our bungalow to retire for the night, we found that our beds had been made, the cotton mosquito netting lowered, and two fresh bottles of water set out for us. A sweet and simple retreat indeed.
