Quited, Clean, Family Place ”

the hotel location is located on the road that lead from mae pim beach going to rayong -chonburi and bangkok. it quited convenient for someone that love to stay in rayong beach and have time limited on driving back to bangkok. the place was clean, quieted and privacy but in room still less facitlity such as hair dryer. just perfect!

Great location, very kind owners”

Cab ride from UTP airport (Pattaya/Rayong), and close to Ban Phe port. Quiet & nice location, across the street is a beautiful beach. Hotel grounds are peaceful & relaxing. Breakfast was included. Hotel owners are wonderful people; offered their assistance if we needed any help with Thai/English translation during our trip. A month before our arrival, I emailed the hotel with transportation questions, hotel owners were very helpful & provided great details.

Just a mere stroke of luck...”

We loved our time at this place. The owner, the lady that we dealt with, is very informed and connected and can and seems willing, with no personal reservations, to help with every issue you may have. We met a couple who'd been coming to Makmai for 10 yrs, and another couple from Sweden who seemed to really enjoy their time there. The time just flies so fast. This place was ideal for a couple or family travelling on a budget, as the value for money is absolutely incredible. During the week - I mean, it's like so quiet and just gorgeous. But on the weekends, the entire road fills up with locals (from Bangkok I presume) to overtake the quietness. Just kind of a Thai countryside place that hasn't been overrun with Chinese tourists and their... "ways" - let's just say, to be polite. It really was a gem we found to stay here, especially with the helpful owner and the beachfront property for such a low price. I'm ready to go back! Right now! : )

The Hotel in the Jungle”

We arrived a little late but checked in very quickly, we then found out we were the only couple in the hotel not with a well known Engineering Company who were having a team building event. We were told we could join them but we declined, then we had to listen to five hours of Karaoke. The next morning there was a very heavy rain storm which finished about 08.00, just as we were going out of the room water came out of the ceiling light fitting and soaked the bed. No time to deal with this as we had an appointment to keep in town, but on our return we were given a new room and helped to relocate our possessions, no problem. The second night of our stay, a Saturday also had a Karaoke evening, this was just a local event but a lot more noise than the previous evening. The next two days were great, no noise at all very peaceful location and helpful staff and very close to the beach. Why the title "The Hotel in the Jungle" well the owners have let the natural trees and flora grow around the hotel, we had a sea view in both of our rooms but you needed to be a contortionist to see the sea through the tree branches.

Quaint”

Accross the street from the beach which is 5 to 10 kilos long. Quiet and clean with its own swimming pool and free internet which is unusual in Rayong.

Clean, presentable hotel, but Rayong is a Dump.”

It was ok, the Hotel was in fact fine, not outstanding but fine. The reason I say fine is that Rayong, the town, location, beach etc....is a DUMP. Unless you have a real reason to stay in or near Rayong don't. I live in Bangkok and have been every where in Thailand, this is the only place I would say ....do not visit. Unless you have friends or a reason to come to the area.

Clean and simple”

Stayed at Makmai villa for only one night but was happy with the room I booked. Plain and simple but it was clean and big with a firm but decent bed. The free wi-fi only worked in the evening but was not really an issue. The beach across the road is very long but there is rubbish in some places. Hired a scooter and only a minute or two down the road there is a big complex called VIP condo which has a roadside resturant outside which served good food. Also the beach was clean in that area as well. I would stay at Makmai villa again if I was in the area as for the money it is quite good value.

Private Hotel”

we stay on the third floor of building zone. the hotel is shady by a lot of trees. the room is decorated with lovely colour. the sea is just across the street. although we are at the 3 floor, the water pressure is very good. there are 2 towels, shower cream and shampoo in pumping machine provided. if you'd like to swim in the sea, you'd better notice the warning flag as there are both poisoned and non poisoned jelly fish during rainy season. for food, the price of seafood are reasonable. enjoy!!

Fitted to us, except building noise”

We had the 1 bedroom villa and this is a perfect location, because the front houses absorbe the noise from the street, we were only 50 m from the beach and the open ground floor gives nice shadow to sit outside. Groundfloor has also a toilet and shower, so no need to go upstairs into living area for such needs. Hotel is more created for Thai tourists. The staff spoke no english. The owner helps by all and is very friendly! We left earlier in case of building noise, but without angryness to the hotel, because with the owner we found an agreement. We wanted to stay our fulltime, because it fitted to us - except the buidling noise which will end at any time. The beds are hard, like written in other comments.

Exceptional”

It is in a perfect location across from the beach. The owners were very helpful with a couple requests. The rooms are simple, bright and clean. We didn't spend much time there as were out enjoying the area. We had a car so could travel to restaurants. There were several nearby tho in walking distance. Would recommend the area to those who prefer a quieter holiday... It was perfect for us. We would return again and stay here.

Ideal location for the beach ”

We stayed 2 nights, did not sample an evening meal, nearby there are a few small eating places but about 2 miles up the road there are the best seafood eaters on the beach with the freshest seafood. Great beach and the water not too deep. The hotel was very nice and clean, coffee makings in room and a full size fridge. Ideally located just across the road from the beach.

Value for money and excellent staff!”

The hotel is located at a really nice beach just across the street. Excellent area during regular week for a family with a kid or to to just get some sun and to play on the beach or in the crystal clear water. On weekends the looooong beach road is invaded but local thai population and the mostly quiet street gets a good pulse and and some noise, but not in a bad way. The beds is really hard (just a heads up) I don't know what standard they have in the bungalows but in the hotel they are hard (even for thai standard) The staff deserve a 6 out of 5 stars. Very helpful, gives you tips and ideas on where to go and what to do. My wife was sick during our stay and they tried to help out in any way they could. The neighbouring restaurat/resort also rents out motorbikes. Also they have a really polite and nice staff. Not as pushy as they can get in more industrialised tourism areas, just friendly. If my wife had been healthy during our stay so she hadn't been force to eat from the restaurant every day we probably had rated it higher. But if you want a calm unspoild nice beach to go with your kids this is the beach to go to. Also the hotell will be awesome because of its location and incredible staff :-)

This hotel is a quaint old style a Thai hotel right on the beach Very clean, great staff , peaceful location 10 mins from Ban Phe and the Koh Samet connection

Very nice place”

Across from the beach, but no view from the 2nd floor ( I think it has 4, you might see the beach from there) no elevator. Only problem was dogs barking into the night, but you'll get that everywhere in the area. Highly recommend

Good location”

the room is spacious, simple and clean. there are all we need in the room. the hotel is direct on the quite beach. we went there with my 80 years old mom who can't walk very well. the hotel gave us a room on the 2nd floor on the first night. later on they offered us the room on the 1st floor which is bigger with a small charge. the staff are quite friendly. there is no lift. it would be heavy for someone who stay at high floors.

Wonderful!”

Everything was great, clean. The swimming pool was nice, clean and private. The beach was very near. We enjoyed so much the seaview and the sound of the wave. Thanks for the relaxing holiday.

Very good”

Very quiet place, but you can rent a scooter for 200 baht a day. Not much traffic all around the area Room was basic but clean, the pool was amazing No Catering in our time, but some small Restaurants with cheap and very good Food in Walking distance Beach across the road is amazing

Great location , good service , but small one”

we recieved a very warm welcome by owner who is a retired engineer. this hotel is a small but convenient to go around if you have car. just cross the road you can reach beach. it is a public beach hence don't expect much on privacy or cleanliness.

Quiet hotel facing the beach”

we stay for 3 nights, and had a pleasant stay. it is right opposite the beach, which is not super clean, but the hotel pool is nice. overall this is great value for money, don't expect too much and you will enjoy your stay. however, do not get there if you don't have your own car.
