Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting”

All in all a positive experience. The hot breakfast on our last morning was a bit disappointing as the food was cold and you expect more from a 5 star hotel. Otherwise no real complaints.... The rooms were warm, spacious and comfortable, the front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful and the setting of the hotel couldn't be better. I had a spa treatment at the affiliated Camelot Spa which was a little disappointing because for the price the therapist felt very average, the change rooms weren't heated which given the time of year one would expect it to be and the treatment time included getting ready which I don't agree with. If I'm Paying for a 90 min massage then I expect exactly that and not a 70 min massage with the balance of the time spent in the change room or waiting room.

Highly recommended for the people and the place”

Our stay at the Le Franschoek Hotel and Spa was a truly special experience. Apart from housekeeping related hiccups (which were addressed) and the very sporadic wifi situation (which couldn't be addressed), everything from the main hotel, its location, the rooms (with the very welcome underfloor heating), the restaurant (with its truly excellent menu), the grounds to the amazingly friendly and capable staff (some who actually greeted you by name after a single encounter) allowed for an experience that has me begging for more of the same. I'd go back at the drop of a hat. A truly good experience that is highly recommended. Thank you to all at Le Franschoek. You made it a truly exceptional experience to be there.

MARVELLOUS HOTEL FOR ANY TYPE OF STAY”

The hotel was one of many that my wife and I stayed in during a three week visit to South Africa and is was exceptional. The room, breakfast, swimming and public areas were excellent. The only criticism (but I knew this before I booked)was that it is some 2.5miles from Franschhoek. However it did provide a shuttles into town three times a day. I will stay here agin rat assured,

Lovely getaway hotel”

le franschoek hotel & spa is the perfect place to get away from it all and just relax for a few days. it is very clean and comfortable, the staff are extremely helpful, and the property is beautiful. the pool area is a great place to relax with views of the mountains and valleys. while the spa is nice, not quite at the quality and standard we are used to or would expect in north america.

Front desk staff”

Had an awesome beautiful stay and spa was wonderful. Wanted to stay an extra night and asked lady at front desk. She said no they were full! But we knew it was quite there hardly any guests. Asked to talk to manager who was surprised that they would say that when it was available! And had asked for a late checkout which the front desk had said no you can’t because they have guest coming which they didn’t. So we didn’t stay the extra night. Still a beautiful hotel and spa! Just always speak to management if you get a no from staff.

A very enjoyable five star experience”

We spent two nights here in late September and we were very happy with our choice. The hotel is a little way out of town but accessible in less than five minutes by hire car (easy drive from Cape Town) which we felt was really a necessity to properly enjoy the area as there is a good choice of excellent wine estates, restaurants, boutique shops and scenic drives. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and everything from bag handling to room features was handled with friendly efficiency. The interior common areas and grounds are excellently maintained and very enjoyable to explore. Breakfast quality, setting and service were exceptionally good. Our room was very spacious which easily devoured the king-size bed and every amenity was provided. We had a loft suite which afforded extra privacy and a variety of superb views and tasteful furnishings. Yes, there were a few extra stairs but probably just as well to offset the extra weight gain from imbibing too much of Franschhoek’s fine food and wine and the porters were very prompt and efficient with our luggage. All in all we felt we had a most enjoyable five-star experience with both the area and a hotel to match.

Picturesque and comfortable hotel ”

Located just out of town Le Franschhoek is a particularly attractive property. We stayed in a two bed villa which was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good and there is a nice swimming pool with loungers.

Stay at Le Franscchoek”

I stayed for 2 nights at Le Franscchoek which was very enjoyable and relaxing. The staff went out of their way to help. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to eat in the main dining room as we had not made a reservation and it was overbooked. The food in the Le Verger was excellent value and very tasty. The hotel is a little distance outside Franscchoek so you need a car or else you need to order the shuttle bus which can be a bit limiting in terms of needing to ensure what time you need to get back - last shuttle is at 6pm. All in all a lovely place to stay and hopefully I can re-visit again sometime.

Christmas at Le Franschhoek ”

We booked a suite at Le Franschhoek. This was our fourth hotel in SA. The hotel was very pretty, however, the room left us a little disappointed. Toilets were dated and room not very clean. The spa was quite nice but again, smelly towels.

Beautiful Garden and stunning countryside”

We only spend 3 nights at this hotel and we had a wonderful time. The landscaping and gardening were stunning and extremely well taken care of. We booked a 2 bedroom Villa and enjoyed the facilities (one of the A/C was broken but since we didn't need it we only reported it on departure). Breakfast was very delicious and the a la carte egg options made my day. If I can make suggestions, I would recommend a kids menu (though everything we had ask for was made for us) and to look at the service around the pool. The waiter was slightly overwhelmed and seemed new but he was very nice & friendly and tried his best to assist. (20th of December). Maybe some mosquito nets above the bed or at the doors would be good, mainly for the flies which are quiet plenty. The place is a bit out of town but you always can get a Uber to take you around. Again, great place to stay and to relax.

Service delivery disaster”

The hotel is 3.3Kms from the Huguenot Memorial at the top of the town, so not in Franschhoek as is implied in the literature. There is a shuttle service into town, but there is a US$8 fee, which seemed steep. The main problem was the lack of staff. Eventually, after many frustrations, we complained to the Manager, who admitted that they had suffered from a large staff turnover. Drinks from the Bar and food in the Restaurant all took an extra long time. When I inquired about the room being made up late in the day, I was told that it could be done anytime upto the evening. There was a turndown service in the room on the 1st night, but not on the 2nd night. We explained to the Manager that our bookings at the Spa had been 'lost' and that they couldn't fit us in before the middle of the following day. He replied the the Spa is not associated with the hotel. Overall, a big disappointment. Thankfully, the food in the restaurants in Franschhoek made up for the unfortunate hospitality experience.

Exceptional”

Excellant hotel with good serbice and facilities. Its a little bit out of town but its no major issue as there is a shuttle. The xtaff were pleasant with good food in the restaurant.i would sta y hrer again

If you want to do Spa, you have to do an appointment 2-3 days before your arrival. Otherwise it is mostly fully booked.

Fantastic except for housekeeping”

This is a lovely hotel with exceptional well kept grounds - Immaculately clean - With excellent food The only down side is housekeeping in the room, a bit hit or miss - forgot to leave bath towels on 3 occasions ☹

Absolutely beautiful hotel”

What a beautiful place to spend some time. Traditional thached roofs but in a white stunning building with gorgeous rooms, a different but tasty breakfast and good service around. The dinner meny is limited but the food cooked is of a very high standard. Located a bit away from the town center (5 minutes driving) it is ideal if you have your own car.

Good Hope”

Love the hotel environment and friendly staff. The Villa is clean and cosy. Breakfast spread is good. Love this place.

Poor value-Old bathrooms”

For $300 CDN per night we expected a toilet that didn’t look glued together (the tank lid didn’t fit and the tank looked like a desperate repair gone wrong). Also the bathtub silicone looked black with mould. That said, we booked at the last minute and got the last available room in Franschhoek on a busy weekend. the room itself and the bed were good. The breakfast was lovely. Next time I will book earlier for better value.

A classic country Franschhoek feel”

We stayed in the standard double room, which was good bot not great. It looked like they needed a bit of love and attention and compared to the value for money received from similar accommodation in the area, we were a bit disappointed on this aspect. The communal areas and property itself have a wondeful feel to it. The bar is superb with a warm fire. Perfect spot to sip on some red wine and unwind.
