Jaw dropping resort which needs some attention”
My husband and I and our 1.5 year old stayed at Lake Kenyir Resort for 2 nights in September and loved it. We stayed in a stand alone villa on the lake and were surrounding by lush tropical surrounds, accompanied by an awesome and private view of the lake. The main part of the resort is equally awesome with multi-levels, each with a commanding 270 degree view of Lake Kenyir. Most spectacular is the huge multi-level swimming pool situated over the lake. For the price paid for our villa, the Resort is good value, however it holds much greater potential and needs a serious cash injection. It hasn't been well maintained and this is apparent in many ways - broken tiles around the pool, mould residue in the bathrooms and plants which need some attention in the communal eating areas. Staff were very lovely and kind and catered to our needs, particularly important with a young child. We also went on a great 2 hour lake trip organised by the resort and very affordable. Food was of good quality and price and available in the room too. All in all we had a wonderful time here and would recommend it as a way to experience a bit of luxury, even if it is rough around the edges in some parts.

Lake Kenyir, Terengganu's Hidden Treasure”
we stayed at a lake view chalet (rm300, breakfast included) which has a wonderful view of lake kenyir. the chalet was clean and spacious, the bathroom contains a dressing table and wardrobe so it's about 1/3 the size of the chalet. the inside looked a bit old but is still good. the buffet breakfast was decent and had their fish and chips (rm15) for lunch which i would recommend. try to go for the ala carte menu instead of the buffet for lunch and dinner. buffet dinner looked nice but felt is was overpriced at rm55+ there aren't many other eating options nearby so keep that in mind. there are decent mamak places on the road to kuala berang but you will need your own car as the one we ate dinner at was at least 8km from the resort. the road to kuala terengganu from lake kenyir doesn't have many street lights so be careful when driving at night. there is a park not too far from the resort near pangkalan gawi which looked like they had eating places but they were closed when we were staying there.

Awesome Hotel with nice surrounding ”
Lake Kenyir Resort is very awesome with helpful, attentive staffs. It is like surrounded by Malaysia beautiful 'little forest' and nice lake view. Many activities are available like kayaking, jungle trekking, ride-joy and etc. Would be cheaper if you contact the tourism ketengah straight without through resort. Buggy car is however slow when it is peak time during check out and morning when everyone out for booked activities. Deer park is available that makes the resort more cheerful~ Recommended for family activities, relaxing activities, fishing activities and other adventurous activities like jungle trekking, night walks and water sports!

Lovely resort and good service. ”
Our chalet was facing the Kenyir lake and surrounded by forest. From our balcony, we saw Hornbills, Iguana and squirrels. Enjoyed the boat ride to Herbs garden and waterfall. The waterfall is very beautiful. We also enjoyed the swimming pool facing the Kenyir lake. The food and hospitality in the resort was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we will come back to Kenyir lake.

Lovely hotel with good service.”
We have an enjoying drive to Lake Kenyir Resort. The drive to the resort is not much to comment, however we were welcome by the majestic view of the hotel and the lake. We were not allow to drive beyond the carpark at the sentry, but the buggy services were fast and efficient. The lakeview room offer a beautiful and peaceful view of the lake.It is nice enough just to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. The hotel also offer good massage services which is wonderfully relaxing after a day out visiting and fishing in the lake. For food, there is not a wide variety of choice however can still drive out to the local restaurant.

Magnificent Views”
We stayed for 2 nights at the Lake Kenyir Resort. Reception was efficient and we were provided with an early check in. Our villa was large, comfortable and had magnificent views over the lake. It was equipped with a new fridge but no in room safe. However, the TV was old with very limited channels. The villas are very private and the resort has a nice pool. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The evening buffet was delicious and very reasonably priced. All the staff were very helpful and contributed to a memorable stay.

My first stay at Lake Kenyir Resort & Spa ”
We brought our friends from Hongkong and it was our first trip to Lake Kenyir. It was a surprisingly pleasant stay in Lake Kenyir Resort & Spa chalet. My friends from Hongkong loved the place so much that they have booked us again later this year. It was the relaxing atmosphere and close to nature feeling that attracts us most. We love the surrounding around our chalet where we relaxed, drank coffee, listen to the sounds of nature or read a book.

kenyir experience”
My family and I enjoy staying at lake kenyir resort. But frankly speaking, there are a few things that the hotel management need to take action to maintain the hotel reputation. For example, on our visiting time the shop locates at the lobby are closed everyday since it was quite far to walk out.Besides that, we can't rent the bicycles as it damage. Futhermore, you should place more signboard along the road to the resort so it would be much easier for tourist to get to.Since kenyir still in development, kenyir resort is suppose to provide transport for tourist to get to the visiting site that located out of the resort compound, so it will be much more safer rather than walking.Anyway, I will definitely come again to kenyir resort in the future.

Great Nature Experience ”
Stay at lake kenyir was great. We rented a car and drove from Kota Bharu during the monsoon season. None of the roads from Kota Bharu to Lake Kenyir were flooded. Got a feel of the villages in the area, and since lake kenyir is very secluded, it's a better idea to drive... the car allowed us to explore the surrounding forests and waterfalls (instead of being stuck at the resort for 3 days)... the resort is amazing. very well renovated. the bathroom is clean and huge and the cabin is very nice! definitely worth the money spent.

Lake Kenyir Resort - Action needed”
Lake Kenyir Resort has a lot going for it. Unbeatable views of the lake, jungle adventures at your doorstep, friendly staff...the list goes on. This is my 3rd visit and I look forward to visiting again. Yet there is a downside in paradise that the management seems reluctant or worse not bothered to address. There a thread through most of the reviews on the need for maintenance and upgrading. The Resort is in urgent need of maintenance. The following are my suggestions to enhance the experience at the resort: 1) While clean, water constantly flowed in the commode. 2) Excellant pool but it needs an upgade as some tiles are loose or missing. Further leafs constantly drop in the pool (We are in a jungle) so they should be constantly removed, not only at the end/beginning of the day. 3) Food is OK and very salty. Need to improve the selection and maybe lower prices as the traveler does not have many options outside the resort. 4)Serve alcohol (Charge more if you have to) This is an international resort so you have to cater to international taste to attract the global traveler 5)The resort maybe too big to maintain. Too many chalets. You may need to close a few and concentrate on the rest 6) The Fuzzball and Pool table need to be repaired or replace. It does not look good being shabby and broken. A little maintaince we promote this resort to chanlenge the best in Malaysia.

Lake Kenyir Resort and Spa”
Kenyir resort and spa is an excellent choice if you want a high class resort in secluded and a natural environment in Malaysia's rainforest region. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and well decorated. The food available at the buffet was excellent. The hotel could provide more outdoor adventure activities. If you like a quiet family environment with natural surroundings, you will love this resort. Recommend maximum 2-3 days stay.

Nice resort and great place for a quiet retreat”
Though the traveling is quite a distance from KL, but it all worth it once you reached the resort. The serenity of the Kenyir Lake and surrounded in tranquility make the holiday retreat an awesome experience. As far as the resort facilities and services are concerned, there's room for improvement.

Living in comfort in the jungle”
The hotel belongs to the national park and is covering a huge area, which was in former times a plantation. Contrary to our expectations, you can drive to Lake Kenyir safely on good roads (no 4-wheeler needed ;-) From the parking area your are transferred with one of the hotels' golf carts to the reception and your villa. The villa are setup individually in a huge area, however - I would suggest to take one with lakeview, nothing beats the atmosphere, when sitting on your own deck above the lake. Nice, comforatble setup with decent bath room. The breakfast is a little bit limited. Food in the restaurant is nice, however, I would assume, after 2-3 days you would look for an alternative, due to the limited selection. When travelling at the Malaysian peninsula's east coast, one should not miss to visit this palce at least for one day.

Peaceful and Fun”
i really didnt have that high hopes with this hotel because i read the other reviews, but i gave the resort a call and was very happy with the friendly staff (ila) who conversed with me. she also got me in touch with the recreation staff to arrange a fishing trip for my husband during our stay. response from her and the recreation staff was prompt. the recreation staff even called me while we were on the way to the resort to inform us of the unavailability of bait on that day and suggested and alternative activity. perhaps knowing roughly our eta, they had a buggy ready and waiting for us at the carpark and we were greeted with welcome drinks. we got the interconnecting lakeview rooms/villas as requested, yay! what other people might call 'rundown', i would call rustic. the resort's architecture actually reminds me off impiana cherating, sans beach. our rooms were clean, bathroom fixtures all working (and awesome design, btw). loved loved loved it. our first activity was a 'joyride' around the lake. my only dissatisfaction with this is that the boat driver or tour guide did not provide any commentary. my kids would have loved to learn about the history of the man-made lake. we has a picnic at one of the many available spots on the resort one afternoon and later my husband and boys when fishing while i took the younger kids to the pool. my children loved the pool!!! it needs to be cleaned more often though. we also had a great time just walking around the resort enjoying the nature and serenity. we took lots of beautiful pictures. too bad the barbecue area was in disrepair

okay rooms, awesome service”
this is probably the most convenient hotel to stay in should you wish to visit lake kenyir. View of the lake was excellent too. The rooms were okay, bathroom could be further improved. Looks really old. But still, bearable. Service was great too, especially the tours desk. You can book tours and borrow games there too. Restaurant wasn't that great and that was the only option for food. However, do try the fish though, it's pretty good.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
3 days and 2 nights were too short. We couldn't cover everything the resort and the lake itself had to offer. We went to the herb island as well as the Saok waterfalls. Would have loved to go to the bigger waterfalls and Kelah sanctuary. However, the facilities on ferry like the life jackets and seats could do with a refurbishment. Next time around we would like to try out the house boats. That would be an entirely different experience. Tasik Kenyir, see you again....!

Back to Nature”
We arrived after a 10hour drive from Singapore, parked our car at the carpark which is located about 500metres from the lobby. A buggy came to fetch us and the driver helped us with our bags....great service as we were really tired. Check-in was hassle free as there wasnt anyone else around, one of the perks of travelling during off-peak season. The room was fantastic, overlooking the lake, the chalet was surrounded by trees and we could hear birds chirping. The bathroom was huge (no tub but then we prefer standing showers). Our evenings/nights were spent at the balcony, drinking beer, and Chinese tea. One setback was the numerous moths that swarmed around the balcony light, so we switched that off and enjoyed the night in moon-lit darkness, looking at the simmering lake. Getting to the restaurant was fine as summoning the buggy took around 3minutes. This is a great resort to rejuvenate.

Very Private, Cheap and Peaceful Resorts”
Value for money. At MYR180, manage to get a Lakeside View Room, huge room for family. Facilities are full and at good conditions. Scenary of the Lake is excellent especially during dawn. Very peaceful as well. Got Astro channel, fridge, safety box, iron board, everything all in at such price. I can rate this resort as 4 star resort but with a very low room rate. Got deer farm, can take a bot trip around the lake. There're 14 waterfalls around those lake.

A little drama during the check-in”
We walk into the resort asking for a room, but the receptionist said said theres no more room available and turn us away. Since we were looking for a room desperately that day, we hop online and found theres a room available through agoda! Thanks to agoda. We are very disappointed the way check-in was handled that day. Anyway..the room was very clean and cozy with beautiful view of lake kenyir..food was very good.
