Ivory Tree”

We had a marvelous three day stay at Ivory Lodge. It was excellent value for money - with game drives every morning and evening. Our guide was Werner - he was so informative, funny and respectful of the animals. He made our trip - thank you Werner! We saw lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, rhinos, giraffes, impala, hyena, warthogs, crocodiles and many more. Werner's passion for animals (particularly wild dogs) is very obvious and he shares this with you. The scenery was beautiful, with epic sunrises and sunsets. The lodge is nicely laid out. We were upgraded and had a large villa with our own pool. This meant we had a lot of privacy and space. It was perfect. The food is generally very good and they try to offer some of the local delicacies including Warthog! Unlike the Kudu (which is very tasty) the Warthog was a little chewy! The staff were all very helpful. Sun City is not too far away and we went to play golf there one day - as there is not too much to do between game drives.

Our first trip to ivory tree having stayed at other lodges in the area. This is a lovely lodge although slightly large in terms of capacity. My only criticism is the buffet style meals became a little congested at times. The game drives were excellent with Evan explaining everything perfectly.

The staff were brilliant!! Food was excellent !! Game drives were very well organized. An absolutely amazing bush experience!!! Loved the small added extras like the Weather forecast for the following day and the little nougat bar at our bed sides just before bedtime. It really is the small things in life that make a big difference. One suggestion though- They could have baby friendly change rooms as we had our one year old with us but there were no baby changing facilities in the female toilets. Thanks for a wonderful experience ivory tree- you will see us again soon.

Exceptional”

Ivory Tree is the most amazing place ever! I loved every second. The game drives were so amazing. We saw so much animals and alot of them had babies! I will definitely recommend Ivory Tree!

Girls trip”

This is a great camp! I have been to several camps in JoBurg area and also in Kruger - but none has created a better athosphere than Ivory Tree. I will be back!

Amazing ”

Safaris were well organised in a small jeep with a maximum of 9 people. We were with the same group and guide throughout. Our guide Cathy was very knowledgable and had a brilliant knack of finding the animals at close quarters. Accommodation was in separate huts which were fabulous. Food was plentiful and good quality. Pilanesberg is awesome and the experience is well worth the money.

Lodge staff and game drivers could not have been more helpful. Our driver , Japhira was very knowledgeable not only about game but birds and plants as well.

Lovely place, service luke-warm”

We found the lodge itself wonderful, located in a beautiful hilly part of the Pilansberg, and the game drives were fantastic. The service itself was however luke-warm, and we found most staff rather indifferent (with a few notable exceptions).

Glorious taste of safari”

I had a very brief one night stay, after driving myself there from Tambo Jo'burg airport - but what a great taste of safari it was, with two game drives in the evening and early morning yielding sightings of many of the animals in the park. Food was plentiful, ambience delightful, and staff warm and friendly. It was incredible value on the excellent deal I had. Only wished I could have stayed longer.

Amazing Safari Experience”

Superb Safari ranger, Rochelle, made this a truly memorable experience. We saw so many of every type of animal and bird we were sometime just speechless with amazement. Thank you Rochelle ! Rooms are great, comfy bed and plenty of room to lounge around. Food is good and varied. Breakfasts could be better and definitely should be better organised. Staff are friendly and helpful. We tried spa treatment - really good and excellent therapist - and archery class. The teacher there is special - a great teacher, full of fun and a lovely person. Overall, an excellent lodge and perfect for couples or families. Go, you will enjoy it all !!.

Very Disappointing”

The most disappointing aspect of Ivory Tree was the poor quality of the food. Neither my wife, nor I are "foodies", but we appreciate quality and the basic ingredients used for the meals at Ivory Tree are simply 100 miles from 5 star. I cannot think of a comparison, as no restaurant that I know in South Africa would serve the equivalent. Another specific sign of problems was the staff's habit of requiring guests to move out of their way. Many of the guests were of advanced years and yet when a member of staff and a guest were passing through the same space, the guest would need to stand back to allow the staff to pass. Having observed this once, I made a point to look out for it and subsequently observed a frequent repetition of the same behaviour.

Incredible Safari and Stay!”

Excellent lodge right in the national park. Staff and drivers were friendly, attentive and always helpful. While some dishes were over cooked, there was plenty of food and options. Rooms were wonderful, clean and well-equipped. We had an incredible weekend, saw most animals we wanted to see (including lions, cheetahs, elephants and rhinos), all at a great discount on AGODA!

Nice place but not worth the cost”

This is supposed to be a 5 Star Lodge however, the services and facilities make it a 4 star at best. Too much fuss over water. They give just 1 bottle in the room per day. Anything else, you have to pay Our kids don't drink coffee... when we asked for hot chocolate during breakfast, they charged us for that Even cappuccino or latte is charged extra...it is not included in breakfast. This, to me is ridiculous. Not what you could expect at a 5 star hotel Game drive was also pretty much OK. The rangers were good and helpful....but they can't do much if the animals aren't there! Overall, I wouldn't go here for safari...or maybe we were here in the wrong season.. But then the prices we paid were exorbitant!!

Exceptional”

Excellent location very friendly staff all trying to help as much as they can. We reported a few problems with the accommodation that unfortunately the staff didn’t deal with but we still had a great holiday.

There were several tour groups during our stay. We feel the lodge is at maxed capacity. ”
