Very comfortable hotel and clean rooms just next to Novotel hotel.

Good value - a little dated”

Good size room, comfortable bed. The staff were super helpful, with good English skills. Given the price, I would recommend the hotel to others, but I do think the location is a little run down, and the hotel itself is dated, leaving you with a feeling that it could be cleaner.

This hotel is definitely not up to the current standards, the building is old and cracking, the staff is nice but feels depressed about the hotel itself, the breakfast is the worst I have experienced in Vietnam (bad coffee, dry bread and cereals, that's it !), I was given a smoking room although travelling with kids... Will not go there again.

However we had a reservations online they said the hotel is full so we got a different room where the bathroom was moldy. So we had to wait in that room for the staff to clean it. All in all after an hour we got a better room at the end thanks to the reception manager who was really helpful and nice.

Nice hotel, terrible staff”

The hotel itself was fairly nice, but that staff were awful. They tried to rip us off on numerous occasions for excursions and taxis. For instance, would send you out of your way in a taxi to make more money and when you would try to talk to them they would rudely interrupt you by picking up the phone and talking. Overall good location, but if possible highly recommend staying elsewhere. Unfortunately the staff ruins this hotel.

Not a "Westerners Hotel".”

Hotel has potential. However lake of English does not make it attractive to Westerners. Inability of CHEF to cook poached or boiled eggs was disappointing.I ended up being annoyed with items on menu - NO HAVE OR NO CAN DO ! Such as, Cream Caramel on menu - no have. Picked f cocktails from menu - no can do ! Pool was not operating. Best was the bell boys.

Overnighter pleasant only stayed one night prior to boat trip in Halong bay. View was awesome from room. Would be better with a balcony.

the hotel was walking distance from the boats and the town as well as the beach and the night market. enjoyed our few nights there except the first morning was incredibly noisy with a bus load of guests leaving early but the next morning was ok and the pool is lovely but you have to walk out the front of the hotel and go around as there is no exit at the back. the rooms were a good size and the view is beautiful.

Not as expected”

Walking in may be a 4 star hotel but staying there it does not feel like 4 star. Room and generally the hotel looks outdated, an upgrade is due. The swimming pool was out of service during our stay. Staff can be more cheerful and make guest feel more welcom. We had 2 boys a 4 and 5 year old and was charged $10 per night for the second child. Buffet breakfast was ok.

it's important to tell your taxi driver that this is right next to the novotel! there are too many hotels with the word "halong" at the beginning for every cab driver to know just which one you mean, but the novotel is just next door and the drivers all know it. once you're at the halong pearl, you'll be in good shape. delightful!

Nice room ”

We stayed one night at this hotel after a day on the boat. The room is cozy and clean but the hotel staff is not very friendly. We want to make a call to confirm the pick up time back to town. Since the driver speaks vietnamese, we asked the hotel staff to help making a call for us. They weren't willing to help us much and wanted to charge us for that. We were shocked. At the end we went to a restaurant and asked the waiter for translating.

Comfortable hotel for business”

Very welcoming and attentive staff who proactively relocated my room to improve wifi access and promptly arranged repair of downed internet line the next day. Adequate breakfast buffet and dining facilities though limited non-Vietnamese options. Large pool and tennis court and an untested massage service. Comfortable rooms through rather firm mattresses. Easy walking distance to a large range of inexpensive Vietnamese seafood restaurants, plus basic Japanese/Korean and Italian restaurants. The location of the Novotel next door provides an easy 'escape' from Viet Nam and great buffet dinner when required!
