Location is not near the town center. Located next to a tesco and university. If you are driving, they have a lot of parking and can enter via backdoor (closed at 9pm) Unfortunately for us, we did not try the food there. They only provide breakfast begining from18/9. It was a short trip for us so we only manage to book a king size room and it is really cozy. We were satusfied with the service. They have a very nice living area and wall paintings. But for a 2 star hotel, its one of the best i've seen. Walk in price was around 180+ Ringgit. However they do not provide shampoo. On our check out, the receptionist asked us twice about the face towel. Which one of it was covered under the blanket. They are being very detailed when checking out. Pros: very clean, tidy, alot of parking, hot water works fine. Air con works fine. Located near tesco, have hair dryer. Service is good. They give accurate information. Cons: might be a little small for some people, no shampoo, not much hotel facility like gym or swimming pool (its just for a stay and its a 2 star hotel) not much of a hotel view. No fridge.

I have stay here around 10 wks. The colour hotel is WONDERFUL likes my second home. The host and staffs are very NICE, KINDNESS, HELPFUL likes my family, best friends. I feel happy, safe, comfortable, quiet and convenient. The rooms are new, clean and standard with keycard. You can go around Penang by the bus that the bus stop in front of the hotel. The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is near the hotel where you can go to USM by walk or bus. The restaurant opposite the hotel. The convenient store (open 24 hrs) is next to the hotel. The Familiy room was furnished with 3 queen size bed, and 1 Extra Double Matress. The room itself was very large. It can actually cater for up to 7@8 family members.The hotel was actually 2 side by side triple storey house converted into a Hotel. Parking is a bit of hassle. The bathroom itself was equipped with a very large spa-like bathtub. Considering that we were there just to sleepover, it was a very comfortable and restful experience. Very economical.

That's right, if you search Agoda for hotels in Penang and sort them by price, this hotel would be at or near the top of the list. And it would be some way down that list before you come across another hotel that offers a real single room and not a dormitory-style shared room. That then, is the value proposition of D'Pearl Hotel. If you're a solo traveller looking for a single room on a budget in Penang, there's no other hotel that tops this one, at least not ones you could find on Agoda. The cleanliness of the rooms isn't anything to shout about though, with several cockroaches making trips into my room, both adult and baby ones. At least the bed seemed fairly clean, and the toilet wasn't too far behind in the cleanliness stakes. Three stars for cleanliness may be a tad too high, but two would be harsh. It's located directly opposite the interstate bus terminal, with several food stalls in between that open really late into the night, and that can't be too bad a thing now, can it?

if you are looking for a budget hotel near universiti sains malaysia, this hotel is the best choice (in case the usm guesthouse is full). walking to usm is possible. it might take you about 20-30 minutes to walk. you can ask for a taxi service from the hotel. it costs 15 rm but if you catch taxi in front of the hotel by yourself, it costs 10 rm. wifi is available in hotel lobby. i got a room near the lobby so i was able to use the wifi. room is small. what special for me is they privide an iron in the hall way, you can use it. staffs are friendly though some of them cannot speak eanglish well but they really try best to help.
