Lime N Soda Beachfront Resort
Thong Sala,Muai's Thai Traditional Cooking Academy - View on map
"They are currently updating every bungalow and renaming the resort to Lime n Soda. The rooms with air-con are excellent, very well sealed so the air-con works well. You get an outdoor bathroom but its still very nice. The room itself was very nice too, quite big and could sleep 3. The pool is also lovely although there are not too many sun loungers but nobody seemed to do the old towel trick which was nice. The downside to hotels here is if you like lying on glorious sand as you don't get it here, but this really isn't why you go to Koh-Phangan! The best thing about this place was the owner/manager/bar staff/general staff. Everyone here was so friendly and would go out of their way to help. The bar is right on the beach and is a cracking way to warm up for the full moon party! Especially because the bar manager Kevin who enjoys a wee drink with you and the owner/manager is absolutely nuts. She'll have you drinking complimentary Thai shots (described as the Thai Jager)and have everyone up dancing on the bar!!! Worth going here just for the staff! "

Phangan Island View Hotel (SHA Plus+)
Thong Sala,Muai's Thai Traditional Cooking Academy - View on map
"Normally everybody first looks for a beach-resort at this island, BUT after coming here for 10 years now i can truely say that sadly most of them are old, run down, many things damaged, dirty or overpriced if they are in condition. Tje owners do not really care about them cause most people come here are young party-people or backpackers coming for just a few days for the fullmoon-party and never come back, so they see no reason for take care. If you find a good room at beach its also expensive. What you get here at Phangan Island View is different and high western standard. Everything is very clean, the beds are good, the interior modern you really feel comftable here. Even when i am not a friend of hotel-style buildings its wonderful and quiet here because its just a small but nice hotel, so you can find silence here. The pool is fantastic, never saw a cleaner pool in thailand. Its big, beautiful and even have a whirlpool-corner which you can start manually. I am normally not a friend of pools because many times you dont know about the water-quality or look not well maintained BUT this one i had to use because its obviously that its perfect and clean same as the whole hotel. The owner, an older thai-lady is very friendly and we was welcomed with a drink and fresh bananas are offered for free for all customers. You also can rent good motorbikes here or book ferry-tickets for same price at the reception. If you can live with the fact that you not directly live at a resort at the beach its the best accomodation you can get for that price (anyway the beach at thongsala is not made for swimming cause the water is very low and just knee-deep if you go in 100 meters. The location is very good, direxrly at the main-road but you dont really hear any noise in the hotel, so its always only a few steps by foot or some minutes with the motorbike to be at all important places around and only 5 mins to the beach. So, if you want it clean, comftable and modern for a good pr"

"stayed 5 nights in phangan and loved this hotel. first night at our pool villa we were a little sketchy on the place, our room had a spider and mosquitos somehow found their way in. but once your get past this the rustic setting is perfect for koh phangan. this island is much more undeveloped and cultural than phuket and even samui. the staff were so excellent, gave us a free ride into the full moon party, told us how much we should pay and negotiate to get everywhere. helped us choose and book the best tours around the island. even helped us in renting a jeep to take around the island for 2 days - better, safer and faster than bikes. haad rin where full moon is is a cool town to go back and visit during the day and luckily also not expensive to get to and from in a tuk. make sure you visit the local town thongsala though... it is amazing. night markets with many many food street vendors was a definite highlight. 40baht for the freshest phad thai cooked in front of you, chicken skewers so tender they fall apart. and amazing desserts also. we came back again."

"This place is amazing! We immediately felt like home when we arrived! The team is super friendly and the owner is very helpful and connects people easily to each other, so it's like pretty nice big family. Lek runs the beachbar and he is the most attentiv and charming barkeeper i met. You will enjoy his amazing drinks for sure! The bungalows are pretty nice too. All is very clean, there are a lot of bambooshelfs for storage. Often there is no place for putting your stuff to, so this is really useful. We had one of the beachfront bungalows and there's no better way to wake up: you can hear and see the sea in front of you. It was incredible for us, because we live in a big city and there is no sea. The beach is also beautiful. You can walk like endless to the south. When it's low tide you have to be careful about your feets after 3 meters. But when you are swimming it's no problem at all. When the tide is high you can easily walk in the water. In the restaurant you can eat the whole day. There are great thai dishes, breakfast variations, western dishes and great fruit shakes. The spicy soup is amazing and if you like coconut you have to try "banana in coconutmilk", it's like a hot sweet coconutmilk with pieces of banana. It's delicious! The coffee is good as well. That's not usual in Thailand ;) Then you have a lot of great restaurants near by: fisherman's for seafood, outlaw saloon for steak, food court for thai street food, ando loco for mexican food and a 7 Eleven just 3 min from here. At the corner of the main street, at the other side of the 7 Eleven, you can rent a scooter for a good price. You can easily drive to all sides of the island from this resort and the longest ride will be about 25min. So it's really easy! The streets are good but it's really important to drive slow(!!!), because there is a lot of sand on the streets and the wheels are mostly not in a good condition. So be smart, wear a helmet and let your ego at the door ;) So this is really long n"

"Famous A's downstairs (same owner as the hotel) is amazing diner food. Also they have an encyclopedia from ~1980 which was fun to look through. We stayed here for one night because we wanted to avoid the hassle of getting transportation to the ferry in the morning and it was one of the better places we stayed in."

The Pier
Thong Sala,Muai's Thai Traditional Cooking Academy - View on map
"Walking distance to pier, I had an AC bungalow and really liked it. It was fairly big with a king bed, big bathroom and a big bench to store your stuff. Patio had two chairs and a hammock to chill out. Beach isn't the nicest but I knew that before I booked. Common area/restaurant/bar is quite big and beachfront. The food could be better. My fish and chips were undercooked so I didn't eat the full meal, breakfast I ordered was alright, I've had better. Staff could be a bit more enthusiastic. It seemed like every time I ordered food or a drink, it was a bother to them. But the location is great. Lots of shops, restaurants and the market around. So if you don't want to eat there you have about 50 other options within a few minutes walking distance. And the AC bungalow was great value for money. I'd stay here again. Wifi also worked great"
