Pimanninn
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"Truly, this is my secret hideaway, as it seems to have everything I need. It is reasonably priced, and located in a very convenient area. It is smack bang right alongside the old AirForce Base (not used anymore) and is a popular running track for early morning joggers. Breakfast is very very Thai, and not attractive to many foreigners, however there is nothing stopping you taking your own breakfast cereals etc. The Hotel caters for many bus travelling groups, however they stay in the multi-person units, whereas more upmarket units are available which are quite attractive. The gym,spa and swimming pool are free to use by the Hotel guests. The township of Chiang Rai has many attractions, and cultural identities. Elephant Camps can also be found within 20 kms from the town outskirts. The night markets are big and enjoyable, and the local park is beautifully kept, with a huge arrange of flowers...the tulips are magnificent. The new Shopping Mall in Chiang Rai is brilliant, and especially caters for 'Farang' diners. Pimanninn value for money? For the first time ever, and I have submitted heaps of reviews for Agoda......5 Stars.....my favourite. Could quite easily live fulltime at this Hotel, as the AirAsia service to Bangkok and beyond is so convenient. I found this Hotel via Agoda, which didn't seem to contain many positive reviews about this Hotel, but I am ever so glad that I acquainted myself with this location, and will return in due course. Chiang Rai is old, but has a lot of lovely character, and is tucked away from all the hype and noise of other touristy places."

The Heritage Chiang Rai (SHA Extra Plus)
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"I stayed here for one night. I was well pleased with everything from the entrance and appearance of the building, the room and also the kitchen. Thought the building it appeared clean and well-maintained. The room room was quite large, a nice sized window and two comfortable chairs to relax in. The best thing about this place is the bed. It was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows. The bathroom was a good size and the floor outside of the shower will not get wet when using it — something quite uncommon throughout SE Asia. The buffet was nice. The ingredients were of good quality. It was a set menu at the time, not sure if it’s buffet when busy. Either way, it was still delicious. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay again if I’m ever back in Chiang Rai."

Grand Vista Hotel Chiangrai
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"The room are spacious and bright enough. Room is clean. Air conditioning is the best wherever we have stayed. Staffs are courtesy and helpful, they would answer your queries in details and even the guy manage the carpark help me when reverse parking and left the park to main road. One of the guy so called Tam, is a nice guy. Big C is walking distance within 3 minutes and 10 minutes walking to Central Plaza and Robinson Department and food court and supermarket (just they close before 9:00pm) Breakfast buffet is good and have variety of choice. We have tried the dinner as well, good in quality and price is competitive. WiFi coverage and speed are more than good. There have enough socket outlets for charging. Just few comments: The TV channel are Thai language only, no Chinese and even English. The Bathrube is too small. In conclude, it is excellent."

Chiang Rai Greenpark Resort
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"This was a great hotel. it seemed like the staff really cared. Its located in the middle of a predominantly thai residential area. 15 min walk to big C, and central plaza ( which were also filled with only locals) making prices very cheap. Please note this area is unforgiving if you cant stand bugs or cockroaches ( they roam the streets at night). but hotel room includes bug repelent and mosquito zapper. we had one cockroach get into our room on the first day. but after that we were more carful with keeping door closed and putting repelent under doorslit. breakfast is good, includes different home made thai dishes each day, for those who like more than eggs and toast. room has hot water kettle. and many ammendities ( no microwave though) good for a quiet comfortable sleep. beds were better than average thai bed. best coffee ( and ice coffee) i've ever had a block away. I highly recommend you try fraps for 35 baht. every attraction in chiang rai is spaced apart. If you want to see it all for a reasonable price, rent a car. I believe chiang rai is one of the easiest cities to drive in. very sane traffic, people stay inside lanes, and lots of signage. otherwise best bet is a tour for 1000 bahtper person. we origionally tried seeing all attractions with busses and grab ta xi...wasnt worth it. Khamthana the Colonial Hotel Chiangrai
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"Khamthana is new in Chiang Rai. Many tuk-tuk drivers are not yet aware of its existence and need a little help. Having spent one full month at Khamthana I can confirm that its staff is professional, well-motivated, and genuinely friendly. The rooms are clean, the design generous. There's a safe in every room. The beds are covered with a duvet, a fact which makes a welcome difference during Chiang Rai's occasionally cool December nights. All units have a balcony with view on the central park plus swimming pool. Khamthana's main clientele consists of tour groups such as participants of the "Flying Squirrels" adventure program. They arrive evenings in large crowds, spend a night and leave the next morning. Located at the city's periphery, the downtown area may not be within walking distance for some guests. The reception is happy to call a meter taxi which will charge about sixty bath for transportation to the popular "clock tower" or other locations. On the internet, Khamthana is advertised as four-star hotel. This is probably fair by Thailand's standards. Yet by European or US standards it deserves a solid three stars. The two guest houses have, for instance, no elevator. There are no laundry bags in the rooms. But there's a private laundry shop just around the corner. The refrigerators are empty, i.e., there's no mini-bar service. Also, there's no menu card on the room although the hotel runs a reasonably good restaurant which closes at 10 p.m. Somewhat below four-star standard is the management's policy of turning off the hot water between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. This doesn't bite the "flying squirrels" which check out before 9 a.m. It may, however, not sit so well with other guests who wake up later and wish to have a warm shower before starting the day. Banlomnow Hotel
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"This is a nice little hotel with well-designed building and garden. It is super cozy as if you are staying at a friend's place. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. You can have yummy sandwiches and Pa-Tong-Go (Thai unsweetened Churos, in my opinion) for your breakfast with your choice of drink. And that's just enough to get, set, go. ;) It is quite difficult to find the hotel though. If you travel by car, you may need to use mapping apps in your mobile phone (which is what i did) or some sort of GPS navigator. If you come to Chiang Rai by mass transport (plane/bus), you may need to hire a taxi. Or perhaps the best thing is to consult the hotel staffs before you book the room."

The Mantrini Chiang Rai Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"the hotel is not the center of town. not a problem for us as we did not want to be in the center of town. we come to the big city to relax and restock. this place is perfect. the hotel is spacious with beautiful gardens and a large bathroom and bedroom. the hotel runs a free shuttle to the night bazaar each night which we love. great internet. being almost right next to the central plaza mall is such a plus. we park at the hotel and walk to the mall. also, big c is almost right across the boulevard. the hotel is going to be renovated so we squeezed in one more stay before they closed. can't wait to see it after renovations. they reopen the beginning of july. M Hotel Chiangrai
City Center,Boon Rawd Farm (Singha Park) - View on map
"A nice and quiet hotel with a simple modern design. The rooms were basic but comfortable. Most of the staff don't speak much English but there was one hotel worker that spoke good English and was very friendly and helpful with advice of where to go and how to get there. Without your own transport the location could be a problem as you would have to walk 5 minutes to get to the main road to get a taxi."
