A great hotel!”

We were very impressed with Hotel Royal Penang. They had a very high level of customer service and staff were always there in case you needed help or had any questions. They had an impeccable buffet on offer - something different every night. The Nonya and Japanese buffet that we tried were fantastic! We left feeling very very full, and very very satisfied. The hotel is located in Georgetown but it is a little bit of a walk from the main attractions. At least there is a Plaza next door and a few restaurants within short distance for all the essentials. Our room was on the non-smoking floor and the room had all the facilities you need (coffee, iron, safe, fridge etc). The hotel has a gym, pool and business centre that are all available for use. Some of the equipment in the gym is old, but still very useable. They actually had quite a lot of equipment in the gym much to our surprise.

We booked a superior room with breakfast for our 3D2N trip.It's our 2nd stay here, we like this hotel for its location, nice breakfast buffet (especially the nasi lemak, muffins and cakes), polite counter staff, and free shuttle service to Gurney Drive is a huge plus for us. There is a taxi counter at the hotel entrance, service is good and price is quite ok. From hotel to airport is RM50. From hotel to Kek Lok Si carpark area is RM30. We went to Gurney Drive using the free shuttle service by the hotel, and then coming back after shopping and dinner, our taxi fare is RM15. Bus no. 201 or 502 can bring us from Kek Lok Si (foot of hill) to Komtar, the fare is RM2 per pax. Bus no.10 can bring us from Komtar to the bus stop right in front of the hotel, bus fare is RM1.40 per pax. We are very satisfied and will be back again if the price remains good. Hotel That Resembles My Hometown”

when i arrived @ penang royal hotel, first thing it gives me an impression that i was really not far from home. the hotel logo resembles the hotel royal logo as in singapore hotel@ newton road. the room was very spacious at comfortable and not forgetting to mentioned the friendly staff that this hotel have. i was given a good room facing the sea view the penang bridge and non-smoking room. i had visit a few nearby hotels to do a comparison but would still strongly recommend hotel royal penang not because of its relations with the royal group of hotel chains but interms of its facilities and locality within eateries area. it is also near to komtar interchange.transportations is very covenient to reach all places of interests. overall is a good stay and would come back again.

love to stay at hotel royal penang. in fact we're all agree this is the best hotel in our 7 nights stay at many different hotels during our travelling for 4 countries. the room was spacious and clean. the breakfast was also excellent, very yummy and tasty, especially their 'nasi lemak and sambal belibis'. and the price was very cheap compare to other hotel in penang. the only regret was we've just stayed for one night. i will surely recommend it to my friends and relatives and i will come back to stay at this hotel next time.

Homely hotel in good location.”

this is the second time we've stayed at this hotel. even though it is some distance from the airport and the euroline bus terminal at queensmay, taxi services are cheap and honest. but it is close to the centre of georgetown, and on the convenient side if you like to do a bit of walking and don't mind taking buses to the northern coast. from the hotel, just walk and enjoy the streets of old georgetown and the beautiful architecture of the old colonial buildings nearby, including the beautifully restored eastern and orient hotel which falls into to the same category as the raffles of singapore, only its waterside location and sea views are just worth a million.... we dropped in and enjoyed morning tea overlooking the sea and the distant mainland. or walk in the opposite direction towards gurney plaza and the evening seaside foodstalls. or catch the buses 100 metres from the hotel to the northern beaches and penang hill. while our room had lovely views, the bathroom could probably do with some tender loving care. overall, we considered this hotel was good value for money.

neat and tidy room in george town”

The good thing of this Royal Penang hotel is that their staff here are friendly and approachable. During our stay here, we are surprised that there are many eating outlets nearby this hotel. Just walk out from the hotel main entrance and turn to your right corner there is a food outlet that sell delicious fish head soup and other local delicacies. Only setback is that the Colour Pub is no more in operations. Nevertheless, if you need to have a cool beer, there are neaby Pubs & Cafes which you can go for a chill nights out. Strongly recommended for friends to stay in this Royal Penang Hotel.

My girlfriend and I were happy to have a chance to stay in Hotel Royal Penang. We were visiting Penang for medical check up. But, we are actually kind of a culinary traveler. So, we visited many good spots in Penang (i.e. Gurney Drive, Nagore, etc... also the kopitiam next to the hotel right at the corner of the street). That's why we were happy to stay in Royal Penang for its strategic location (is on the public transportation route, close to the shopping center, street food places, and souvenirs spots) and the hospitality of the hotel staffs. Overall, that was a pleasant and nice stay at Hotel Royal Penang.

Great location”

We've stayed in Royal Hotel for 2 nights. The staff in the hotel is very helpful, very courteous and they are also very friendly, not only the hotel staff but extended to the hotel taxi driver. We really feel so good with the treatment that they are giving. Royal hotel also located very near to the Nagore Heritage Street, where you can find some of Penang famous eateries. Walking distance to the new world where they have a lot of restaurants and places for you to laid back. Basiacally, if you go to Penang for food, you should stay in Royal. It won't go wrong. The set back about the hotel is only the room aircon is not cold enough. Other than that we are very satisfied with our stay.

i was impressed by the courteous staff, always willing to help. i left behind my sunhat and was contacted to pick it up when i left the hotel. centrally located in georgetown, hotel royal allows for easy access to shops, eating places, places of interest which is all within walking distance. taxis and buses are available for the tourist to visit most places e.g. batu ferringhi beach, penang hill, snake temple and air itam pagoda.

I'm the business women, use to travel to Penang once a month. Royal Hotel, Penang is my choice because the price is so reasonable, location is very convenient for my business partners, clients to meet me, facilities like jockey parking, pub... also suit to me and most important thing is i felt save to stay in. I hope Royal Hotel Penang's manegement can offer more business travel package to business people like us.

Comfy, cheap, great location within walking distance to main attractions!”

Rooms are clean. I stayed on the 17th floor. The cleaning lady was very polite and accommodating. I was always given extra towels. My bedsheets were changed regularly. Breakfast is adequate with all the "necessaties" like eggs, bread, fruits, salads, western and oriental choices. Its the same everyday, but hey, its better than nothing, and for that very cheap price, I have no complaints!! Some staff members can be a bit "cold" but its not a problem for me. It would be a problem if its a 5 star establishmebnt. All in all, my 11 days at Hotel Royal Penang had been wonderful and I will definitely be back. Great value for money at its best!

Worth to stay”

I had chosen this Hotel Royal Penang to stay merely because of my friend informed me that the Hotel is previously occupied by Sheraton. However, the hotel is certainly comfort, efficiency, value for money and also far exceeded my expectation. I would highly recommend this hotel to all my friends and relatives as it was brilliant. I would definitely like to return one day in the near future. This hotel is adjacent to the shopping complex, Penang Plaza.

Nice hotel if you want to be close to Georgetown”

I chose on my first night in Penang because I wanted to be close to the attractions and food places in Georgetown. I heard other reviews saying how dirty the rooms were, and some other complaints. I have to say that it was completely the reverse for me as the room was very clean, nothing out of place and no hair strands in the shower either, which is something my wife would complain about if it's there. The room was comfortable, old school design but all hotels will have their own look and feel. The only slight complain was my wife had a minor itch the next morning sleeping on her side of the bed, I didn't get any similar reactions so maybe the bed bugs were more active on her side that night. Perhaps the hotel can do something about that? Overall it was a pretty decent stay and not bad since for me the price was rather cheap. If I want to be in Georgetown and looking for a hotel that is under Rm200, I would go here. There is also wifi in the room which was ok.

A great greeting from the valet parking staff at the entrance of the hotel. The start of a journey to the lobby with a greeted smile from the service counter staff. Nice gesture from the receptionist. The staff (Aizat) know in and around penang. Do ask him for more information and what you are interested to find out about penang. The hotel rooms are clean with a royal touch from the lift outlook. You will enter the hallway to your room with plants on the aisle. When you enter your room, you will feel a sense of home with a unique touch. Rooms are spacious, with complimentary gifts for your stay. Facilities such as sauna, gym are also complimentary. Overall a great place to stay if you would like to be around locals and try good local food. A drive to anywhere in penang is within reach.

Great hotel”

This was the 3rd of 5 hotels for us on a quick road trip round peninsula Malaysia. It was by far the best. In general, I was disappointed in the quality of the hotels we encountered, though I am realistic and appreciate that you get what you pay for. Absolutely nothing to fault at the Royal Penang. The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were large, with all modern-conveniences in working order and the breakfast buffet was superb with a huge selection of tasty options. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

MY HOLIDAYING IN PENANG-STAYED IN HOTEL ROYAL”

I and my family had a wonderful holiday in penang. We stayed at hotel royal. The hotel location was very good. At first we had a litle dificulty looking for it the first day as we arrived in penang and came fromd direction of the georgetown city narrow and congested roads. But as we got to burma road, we could spot the large signage "hotel royal" above the tall large hotel building, and we followed to arrive in no time. The hotel has good links to the gurney drive and tanjung tokong. We visited these places with ease and had a good time travelling along to batu ferringgi and tanjung bunga for the sandy beaches. Except for the narrow portion near tanjung pinang, the road was adequate and wide.the hotel is also easily linked to roads to get to the kok lok si temple and penang hill. Just look for jalan ayer hitam road.

Good Hotel in good location”

We stayed for two nights recently at the Hotel Royal Georgetown and it was a very pleasant stay. From our arrival we found the staff to be very helpful with checking in being fast and easy. Thec orporate suite was just what we were looking for and was a good size and well furnished room. The meals were excellent and again the staff in the restaurant could not be more attentive. All in all a good experience and would definitely stay there again if back in Penang
