3-star hotel with the 5-star experience”

We were staying in Penang for 4 nights and booked 2 different hotels as there were some issues. We stayed in Hotel Neo Plus Penang for the first 2 nights and were very reluctant to change to the next hotel. True enough, Neo Plus was way better than our second hotel in many areas like location, room size, and cleanliness, breakfast spread and facilities. Firstly, the location is excellent and is within walking distance to many attractions like Jalan Magazine, Jalan Armenian and best of all, it is very near (less than 10 mins walk) to the best Nasi Kandar stall in Georgetown, Deen Maju! Even when you use Grab or Uber, it will take you less than RM10 to reach Fort Cornwallis (depending on demand). Secondly, we got the family room that can accommodate the 3 of us, and it was spacious. The room looks spanking new and the toilet was clean and comfortable. From our room window, we could also see Komtar, the tallest building in Penang clearly and that was quite a sight to marvel at, especially at night. Thirdly, the breakfast spread was decent but tasted great. It will sure be able to satisfy your morning hunger and keep you energized for the later walk around Georgetown. The menu also changes during the two days we stayed at the hotel. Very simple fare like rice, noodles, sausage, chicken, salad spread, bread and buns, fruits, porridge, cereals and some others. They also have an egg station where you can order any type of egg you desire. Decent, simple but filling. Lastly, the swimming pool on the top floor can be considered small but the view was stunning. Be careful of the rough edges around the pool as it is rather sharp and not fitted properly. The management can perhaps install a drinks and snacks bar on top to make the place livelier. Other small mentions include the mini mart that is located in the hotel lobby, great for buying drinks and snacks. There is also a cafe at the ground floor and we received 1 complimentary drink each. The drink wasn't great but

Very good service, spacious and clean”

Staff was very prompt in responding to my email request, and they continued to value-add to their services by suggesting places of interests and the booking of transport. The room was very spacious and clean as there were no carpets. But the flooring was very comfortable to step on. The hotel is well-located near GAMA shopping centre, and is within walking distance to the heritage site of Georgetown. We had very good experience staying in Hotel Neo Plus Penang.

Great hotel”

This is our 2nd stay with Neo Plus Penang. The hotel accommodated all our requests (high floor-23rd/queen size bed/side by side rooms-we booked 3 rooms for this stay). The only problem we encountered was there was no hot water supply in two of the rooms. It was not pleasant to shower in cold water after a long day. Staff were efficient. We wanted to arrange for pre-check out but was assured by the reception that hotel bills will be ready on the morning of our departure (we had to leave at 8.30am). Indeed all the papers were waiting for us when we check out in the morning. We will definitely stay in Neo Plus Penang again in our next visit. Highly recommended !

Pleasant stay”

I had a great time staying in NEO+ Penang. I got a room with a nice view to the city. I stayed for 3 nights and whenever I came back to my room, it's always cleaned. It's strategically located to anywhere in Georgetown. It's so easy to get around by online taxi and also on foot. It's highly recommended place to stay in Penang.

Professional hotel service. Excellent quality to price ratio. The Room: Quiet environment, very clean room, very nice view from windows (for high level floors), room size not small but importantly not too unnecessary big. Everything I need is available. Gentle and helpful staffs no unnecessary talking and smiling. The location: Very conveniently within George Town, walking distance to many viewing points, also near to many dining places. The Top is just few minutes walk north. A bit north from The Top there are many Dim Sum tea houses for morning tea. Walking east from Neo+ I can have 7-11, bars and hawker food kiosks. Transport: We usually walk to the old town. For places a bit further or to the mainland west Malay, we drive our rental car. Neo+ has a very good car park, just use my room key card to entry or exit from the car park gates, very nice and no bothering the reception every time you drive out like many resorts in Pinang do. Neo+, Excellen value for the money paid.

Great hotel in an excellent location”

Great location! The hotel is centrally located in Penang...just a 5 minute walk to the bus station at KOMTAR (Komplex Tun Abdul Razak). There are buses going to the airport which only cost 2.70 malaysian ringgit per person. The bus numbers are: 102, 401, 401E (from Lane 6 of the bus station...the last lane in the station). If you are taking the bus to the airport please make sure you give yourself about 1 and a half hours to reach the airport. I was stuck in a traffic jam ...left KOMTAR at 6:30pm and arrived in the airport close to 8pm. You can take these same buses from the airport to KOMTAR. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. I had a business meeting and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make it back to the hotel in time to check out and they were nice enough to extend my checkout time. They were also very helpful when I asked for suggestions for dinner. Down the road from the hotel (about a 3 minute walk on Lebuh Pergraves) are several street food stalls and shops. The Hokkien Prawn Noodle there is very good...you can ask for extra toppings like spare ribs (extra $2), eggs ($1), roasted pork, etc, to go with your noodle ($4.30). The cendol from the drinks stall on the street is also pretty good. If you want some good local Nonya food, you can try Ivy's Nonya (Address: 58, Jalan Chow Thye, George Town, 10050 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia) which is off Jalan Burma...2 minutes walk from Him Heang Bakery. If you are alone, they have a set lunch menu that cost about $13 including a homemade soya bean drink. The food is very authentic as reminded me of my granny's cooking. There are several malls around the hotel. In fact, I need to get a luggage and got a pretty decent one (20 inch suitcase) at GAMA department store (across the street from the hotel) for only 99 ringgit (they were having a sale). There is also a supermarket close by at Pacific. I would definitely be staying here again if I return to Penang.

Best View and Value”

I stayed here for three nights and I can say confidently that Neo Plus provides the best value for money. Price was reasonable, breakfast was okay (nothing I wouldn't eat), and the view from the topmost floor: SUPERB. The staff are all friendly and since this is quite a new hotel, everything is working well and I love the room decor, as well as the cafe at the lobby. Great coffee, great local barista who was kind enough to guide me through places to go in Penang. Will definitely come back here again.

Hotel Neo+ is conveniently located with access to many of the famous eatery and bakery around us. Only 10 minutes drive to Penang Street Art, 10 minutes walk to komtar and around 15 minutes walk to the famous teochew chendol store. Hotel is relatively new and rooms were nicely renovated that oversees the town. Though the toilet is a little small, room and bed was comfortable enough to walk about and to have a good night sleep. Room was also kept very clean. Will come back here again for it's good location.

Lovely city stay”

Our second time back at Neo+ Hotel Penang and we had a really pleasant stay. Despite being in the heart it the city, it was tranquil and our room had an amazing view of Komtar and the sea in the horizon. The family room was spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids. Parking is convenient, and food at the cafe was awesome. Must try is their fried kuay teow which stays true to Penang flavours. Highly recommended!

overall....it was a nice stay. new hotel, with a good location in the heart of georgetown and offered us a very good price per night. as a couples, we travel a lot to penang as our holiday location. we always stayed at different hotel each visit. but obviously... after this, neo plus hotel will be our choice of hotel to stay in penang. definitely.

Smoke-Free, Quiet and Clean”

Our first experience at Hotel Neo Plus Penang was a good one. The location was ideal, the hotel itself met our requirements and expectations, and most of all, the staff are pleasant, helpful and very respectful towards guests. Other than the slightly disappointing breakfast spread (which we would have opted out of, if that was an option) and the fact that someone on our floor brought durians into the hotel (which truly stank up the hallway at 10:00pm on 30 Jan 2016), we would recommend Hotel Neo Plus Penang to friends and family.

Its refurbish hotel, room is clean and good natural lighting. Just opposite a cozy cafe - Hin Depo Cafe and walking distance to GAMA supermarket and few famous local strret food area. Walking distance to Komtar. 20min walk to Georgetown UNESCO site with plenty of activities to do and more nice cafes there. Small swimming pool on roof top, very good panorama view on Georgetown, Ferry Terminal and Penang Bridge. Car park access and good for those who drive to Penang or rent a car during the stay.

I won't mind staying here again and again”

We love the excellent customer service. We had some problem with our standard room's air condition around kid's bedtime. Automatically was offered a superior room on the same floor with help from concierge to transfer the bags. Services like a 5 star hotel but price is awesomely affordable and like what my husband said " value for money". Very near to our favourite Nasi kandar place "Deen Maju" and the Presgrave road hawker stalls where we love the Hokkien Mee. Husband loves the barfly opposite the hotel for a "value for money" booze. Just a close drive to all our favourite makan stalls like Kuey Chap in Lebuh Kimberley and char kuey teow in Lorong Selamat and also the ah leng... The bed is very comfy. We actually had more great quality sleep in Neo+ than our next few nights stay in Golden Sands.

It is a new brand hotel in Penang, clean comfortable and affordable. I love to enjoy view city of Penang from pool at the rooftop. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The breakfast is not bad at all. I like to come back to Neo+ Penang again

Try something Neo”

Neo+ is nice for a stay in Penang. The value for money is good. The hotel is clean and stylish. Staff members are friendly and helpful. There is a small minimart in the hotel. The swimming pool area is nice too. Everything is kept nice and clean. The room was comfortable, and the shower was spacious and nice. The breakfast wasn't amazing, but it was certainly good enough for the price range of the hotel. Nothing to complain about. Your standard hotel fare. The hotel keeps a youthful profile with the modern decor. The staff wear hats and wigs that fit in with the hotel's image. Recommended.

Unique and affordable budget hotel”

It is my first time visiated Penang for business and it's been a great experience to find up this interesting hotel. Neo Penang has a lovely eclectic resto, swimming pool with stunning views of Georgetown, and frienly staff. The breakfast also quite good. I am satisfy with my staff at this hotel and will be back to Neo Penang again.

Good place to stay.. but with a lil note.”

We were travelling in group of 9, 2 elderly, 4 adults, 3 children i start with location first, value for money will be right at the end of review.. - location wise, its very good, walking distance to Komtar, malls, supermarkets and dept store. And importantly, bus terminal, penang Bus literally goes anywhere. Convenient for tourist, except using Grabbod course lol - cleanliness, very clean and tidy, and the housekeeping work very fast, our rooms always get prepared right after we finished our breakfast. - staff were very friendly. Recommended - facilities, quite okay.. gym, pool, and cafe on lobby offers good pastries and cheap also!! - now we get to the business, value for money. The reason i gave 3 stars is, first we booked 3 family rooms, which 1 queen and 1 single size on each room. They offered to "upgrade" 1 family room to junior or suite (cant remember tho), which connected directly to 1 of the family room. We agreed. But after 1 night, we realize the air con in suite room was faulty, 18 celcius equal to as if 23-24 celcius in normal. We asked for the technician to check, and we already ask for room change if the problem persist. Somehow they declined the room change due to peak season and no room available for change (we stay from 28th dec to 1 jan 2020). And the problem still there, so we managed to lower the room temp by kept opened the connecting door (since the family room connected has its aircon running normal), thats one. The second note is, since the junior suite room is not design for 3 person, so they put 1 extra bed. Wow, the extra bed mattress is way thinner than any extra bed i ever had in my life LOL. No point of asking for a change for this hahaha. Thats what makes 3 stars value for money.. a suite room with faulty aircon and thin extra bed. But anyway, the breakfast was good, wide range of varieties, all Halal. Good croisant, nice nasi lemak, egg station, etc. And they provide water dispenser on each floor. Very nice.

Exceptional”

Hotel Neo is my family's fave place to stay when in Penang. It's convenient location to Komtar, market, grocery store, street arts and malls made it ideal to place to stay. Been booking here for about 10 times and they never fails me. They provide decent breakfast and the gym is very useful.
