Visiting a city one learns many things. One being that most of the locals prefer to still call their home city of Ho Chi Minh City by its old name Sai Gon. Yes. That's another thing, "Saigon" is actually two words in Vietnamese! Another is (and confirmed by our stay there) that the Majestic Hotel is one of the city's great hotels. It is an institution and has been since 1925 and, although its original external outside appearance has altered slightly over the decades (we liked the original), it's great position and reputation for quality and service have not altered. Situated on the river it is wonderfully positioned that those lucky enough to stay here can amble to all the best shops and restaurants. Those that are not, are within a short taxi ride away. Taxis are always available out the front. We opted for a river view room which was well appointed and double-glazed to keep the traffic noise out. Air conditioner worked extremely well and the room was appointed with the facilities you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Staff was very friendly and helpful although on one occasion we did have difficulty communicating with one member of the staff. Overall, we had no problem though. Breakfasts were great. Lots to chose from and were enjoyed from the fifth floor terrace with a fabulous view overlooking the river - great way to start the day. Food did not disappoint. Even at the end of one exhausting day when we just opted for room service. Not a cheap hotel and by no means the most expensive, should you chose to stay at the Majestic you will not be disappointed.

We stayed for a long weekend in November. The weather was mixed so it was nice to stay in a hotel in district 1, and that had great facilities. The breakfast I would highly recommend - a huge variety of different foods, very fresh and well presented (and served on the rooftop with a great view!) Out room was very comfortable, a huge bed, great shower and lots of nice thoughtful additions. We didn't have a view out of the windows but it didn't really make much difference to us as there are plenty of places within the hotel to get great views. The spa is good too, we had a fantastic massage. The pool is very small but in a lovely courtyard and is very relaxing to sit and relax by and have a dip to cool off. Very glad we chose the Majestic as it has a bit of quirky old world charm. Its been refurbished so all mod cons but with a colonial feel. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a stay in Ho Chi Minh City. But get in there quick...they are planning to redevelop the whole exterior to a modern facade so it will sadly no longer look like it did in 1925.

The Hotel Majestic Saigon takes you on a trip back in time to the 1920's and the beauty of the art deco era. It's tasteful opulence provides a memorable and unique experience. From it's sparkling chandeliers to it's embroidered chair cushions, this hotel is pure class. Central to all the major city attractions, the hotel is perfectly positioned for the tourist, and the staff can't do enough for you. Breakfast while looking out over the lake, go site seeing, and then take a leisurely swim to cool off in the court yard pool surrounded by terraces of white balconies over-flowing with green foliage. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

Elegant old hotel by the river”

This is a very attractive old hotel in the Central District 1 area of Ho Chi Minh City. This was a very attractive discounted rate however I was disappointed to discover that my Room, No. 101, had one window in the bathroom vestibule that had no curtains which allowed street lights to shine in and light up the sleeping area and, of course, in the morning the sun was shining in brightly from dawn onwards! For only two nights I could not be bothered to change rooms. Whilst I would happily stay at the hotel again I will be wary of room 101 and will certainly be checking to make sure future rooms are fully equipped. I have stayed at the Majestic before, so I was disappointed not only with the room but also that this drawback was not pointed out by the staff.

Historic hotel with chracter and charm! !”

Step back in time and experience the luxury and grandeur of the french colonial days at the Majestic Hotel. the hotel has been elaborately restored and while the rooms are a little small they are very well appointed. Enjoy breakfast on the 5th floor deck or a drink on the 8th floor balcony while looking out over the Saigon River.Relax in the french style coutyard pool area after a hot Vietnam day. Staff are very helpful and our tours booked through the hotel were with informative, english speaking guides in comfortble cars and the restauurants recommended were excellent. This is a hotel we would recommend to other visitors to Ho Chi Minh city.

Great hotel”

The Majestic hotel has the best location in Ho Chi Minh city. Ask for a room with the river view because the one on the swimming pool are dark and very deceiving. The staff is nice, the decoration is splendid especially for the end of the year. The breakfast on the terrace (or inside) is great with plenty of good foods from every where. The view is very nice. the spa and the swimming pool are definitely places to be renew because they are not attractive at all but there are so many things to do in HCM that you do not need to go to the swimming pool. If you like the old colonial times do not hesitate to stay in the Majestic hotel.

Great position and a fabulous roof top bar”

We chose to begin our Vietnam adventure at the Majestic and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful hotel - the room we had was spacious and beautifully furnished with flowers and a welcoming fruit plate. Beds were very comfortable and staff were helpful and friendly. We had a river view room and it was certainly worth paying the extra as we enjoyed not only watching the boats and the river action but also the street action - watching traffic has never been so interesting! The breakfast is definitely one of the best we encountered in Vietnam and although we didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner, I would definitely recommend cocktails at the roof-top bar. Again lovely views of the river and lights as well as the road action. Position wise you can easily walk to the War Museum,the Ben Thang markets and other key attractions. We liked it so much that we actually came back to the Majestic at the end of our trip for our final night in Vietnam (again getting a river view room). I would definitely stay there again if I returned to Ho Chi Minh.

Elegant and Friendly”

The Majestic has a great ambience. After a few days it felt like home, it was comfortable, relaxing, and had style.The rooms were not large but very comfortable. The internet connections in the room were very fast and we could keep up with our emails easily. We ate at the Cyclo Cafe and the food and service was excellent. Unfortunately we were not able to try the other restaurants as it seemed they were poopular for private functions, like wedding receptions, but the staff were hepful at directing us to other local restaurants which were very good. We arranged our own tour as we had done some of the other tours on previous visits, and we had a hotel driver and car, which meant that we did not have to worry about managing taxis etc. This is our second visit to Ho Chi Minh. we stayed at the Majestic on our previous visit, and had very positive memories of it. Our second visit was just as pleasant, and we will stay there again on our next visit.

Great location, friendly staff, excellent brekfast”

Overall, my stay at Hotel Majestic Saigon was a really great experience. The prime location makes traveling to few of the attractions at Ho Chi Minh city really easy. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you decide to stay, you may want to take up their daily breakfast. It was superb with great selection. The view from the rooftop bars and restaurants overlooking the Saigon river was great in day and night. Good stay!

It was my birthday trip to Ho Chi Minh. Staffs are helpful and friendly. We can communicate in English with them. Hotel location is strategic. Walking distance to some of the attractions. Easy to get Uber or taxi. Our room is spacious and clean. We love the welcome fruits. Thank you Hotel Majestic Saigon for the birthday cake and a greeting card. Its make me feel surprise and warm.

A great colonial hotel”

We have spend the end of the year in Majestic hotel. This hotel has the very best location in Ho Chi Minh. We had a colonial river view room which I highly recommend. the staff is nice, the colonial ambiance is great and above all the 2 outside terraces are fabulous for a drink overviewing the Saigon river. We spent the new year's eve in the hotel, the gala was great. The negative points are: the swimming pool which is too small and no sun and the spa which is dark, old and not attractive at all which is very deceiving in an Asian country. But we will definitely recommend to any body to stay in the Majestic hotel.

My favorite hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Nicely located right by the Saigon river it has great character and offers excellent service. Ideal for anyone who wants to get a taste of the old Saigon. Compared to other 5star hotels in Saigon the service and the cleanliness are outstanding, and the rooftop bar is the best one in Ho Chi Minh City. Would come back anytime.

This Hotel is great for a quick break, ideal for couples We did not take our children and think our younger teens who are use modern hotels may not appreciate this hotels old world charm. However this was a surprise weekend escape for my wife's birthday and she loved it. This Hotel is a friendly inviting oasis. We had a large suite on the third floor with river a view on the quieter street side - on recommendation from a review on this site. Traffic noise was not intrusive. We enjoyed a curtesy car pickup and drop off arranged thru "self-service" on this web site. If you are entitled to any extras then I recommend using this self service feature. US dollars and the local Dong are almost universally traded. I recommend using the local (reputed) taxis but have plenty of local currency in smaller denominations. You can get around town for around 1 to 2 US per cab ride (rate during our stay was (1US = 19000VND). It is worth asking the taxi driver to quote a fare or ask for the meter. There are laods of very good local restaurants near to this hotel. We enjoyed one just down the side street next to the Hotel (Maxims I think?). We had dinner with a bottle of wine for 60US, good value. We aslo liked "Ciao Cafe" for coffee and brownies, just a 5 minute walk. The hotels resaturants are not that great, except the breakfast on the 5th floor roof! If intending to do a local tour the hotel prices are high, I would recommend using one of the outside tour agencies who offer the same service at far more reasonable prices. We did one tour to the Cu Chi tunnels and plenty of shopping and strolling around. I would not spend more than a few days in Saigon but our short break in the Majestic is well worth it. Enjoy!

My husband and i spent three nights at Hotel Majestic and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special place to stay in Ho Chi Minh City - both business and leisure travellers. we were warmly greeted on our arrival and the service continued to impress. it was my birthday while we were in Vietnam and the hotel had made a cake and put a small bouquet of flowers in the room. a beautiful touch which made our stay all the more special. A real treat of a hotel!

Hotel Majestic Saigon is one great Hotel to pick when visiting Ho Chi Minh, from the time we entered till the time we check out it was real customer service from the Reception staff, Manager and everybody in the Hotel. Although some facilities did not live up to our expectations like the Swimming pool . But in the whole its a good choice.

A lovely Majestic experience”

This was a lovely way to experience Ho Chi Minh City. We felt very special each time we walked into the stunning lobby. We stayed for three nights in a Colonial suite ( just over $200 per night). It was huge with a large living area containing a desk, lounge suite and tv. The large bedroom also had a tv and a very comfortable bed. The lovely ensuite was marble tiled with a generous bench, and a corner bath with a shower over. Breakfast upstairs overlooking the river was very comprehensive, service was a bit slow on occasion but not enough to cause a problem - and it was really hot! The hotel is centrally located and is walking distance (15mins) or a quick taxi from the Ben Thanh market. Good restaurants close by Maxims Club (European cuisine) right next doors or just one up from that another Maxims (Nam An ?) which has inexpensive Vietnamese food. This hotel is going to go in the next year to make way for a huge new redevelopment of the site. Experience this very special place before it is gone forever.

Hotel with a charm at an excellent location”

I was on a short weekend trip with my mum and stayed at Hotel Majestic Saigon for two nights. Since I only had about 2.5 days to explore this city, I chose this hotel to be close to most of the attractions and local food/restaurants. And my mum loves architecture, and this hotel still has its French colonial charms in it. Room was clean and spacious facing the river. Breakfast was great with a good widespread of Vietnamese, Chinese and Western choices overlooking the Saigon river at the rooftop area. Location was everything. It was walking distance to the City Hall, high end shopping malls, Notre Dame cathedral, post office, Nguyen Hue blvd, Ben Thanh market and a lot of good local restaurants as well. Hotel service was great as well from the time we checked in to the time we left. And they were considerate and thoughtful to inform us about the road closure around the city on the eve of their Independence Day celebration. Thoroughly satisfied!

riverside hotel in perfect location”

This city quickly became my favorite...in the world. My stay at Majestic is unforgettable. The service, the food, the cocktails, marvelous breakfast, view from riverview suite, swimming pool, best massage I have had in my life... quite frankly everything about this hotel was top notch. When I return to Ho Chi Minh City I will definately stay at this hotel again.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”

we met up with our granddaughter sarah jane o'hara and husband james who teach english in ho chi minh city for holiday which turned out to a fairy tale lasting 17 wonderful days. the 7 hotels we stayed in were beyond reproached and the staff were wonderfully old world charm standards. thanks to agoda, unlike travel agents, hotel costs covered all 4 of us without breaking the bank. food and drinks at these hotels averaged just over per day for the 4 of us. try doing that in sydney or elsewhere! eden phu quoc resort was reminiscent of mombasa, kenya in the 60's and 70's. it is said that time flies when having fun. we were checking out on day two until the reception staff told us ... "you leave tomorrow", to the delight of all.
