Convenient hotel for tourists.”
We were very happy with our recent holiday stay at the Hotel Continental. Everything was highly satisfactory with one annoying problem: there seems to be a significant fault with their key system - electronic access cards. EVERY Faye had problems with accessing our room. We would come back home, wait for the lift go upstairs only to find the key not working. Then we would wait for the lift, go downstairs to the reception, wait to have the key reprogrammed, wait for the lift again, go upstairs and voile - the key would work. Sometimes we would need to do this two or more times a day! We reported the problem every day. After four days of this inconvenience I got "fed-up" and demanded that something proper be done. They changed our room - more inconvenience ... Being objective and after dealing with our frustrations we can say that it is a nice hotel in a decent part of Penang. Close to lots of activity. We can recommend Love Lane and the Red Garden food court., both nearby ...

Good location hotel”
This is my first stay at this hotel. I chose it due to reasonably acceptable price with complimentary breakfast. Based on location, I was lucky enough to know that it is located near to the famous restaurants of Nasi Kandar (Line Clear and Hameediyah). For those who know how to ride motorcycle, there are several shops that offer renting motorbikes. In Penang, driving motorcycle is one good choice as the traffic jams are quite bad. But please make sure to study the roads direction first when driving around. As for the rooms, it is as per my expectation. Got bath tub which I wanted when I booked for this room. Room is clean and quite spacious for me. The breakfast is so so. Neither delicious or bad taste. But it will be good if the hotel can improve the food quality so that you can attract more visitors in future. The good point I like about the hospitality of this hotel. All the staff are friendly and helpful a lot. I had a small problem with my bike and the security team really checked for me to ensure I was okay. Wifi is available for free at lobby and coffeehouse. Wifi room is chargeable. All in all, I would recommend visitors to stay at this hotel.

A value for money 3 star hotel”
IT was a last minute decision to stay a night in Penang. My son and me drove from KL to Balik Pulau, Penang to settle some personal things.At first we thought of making it a day trip but after some deliberation, we decided to stay a night in Georgeton. Thats where we made the last minute hotel booking through Agoda.Confirmation was super fast.Your online booking was superb! Well it was only a one night stay at Hotel Continental. The room is clean----that is the first criteria for me on hotel accommodation.Location is also very important as food is within walking distance of the hotel.Will definitely consider staying at the same hotel for my next trip to Penang.

Comfortable, clean and near food stall”
6 of us visited Penang, we travelled from Lankawi to Penang by ferry, it was a new experience for us, we left at 2.30pm at Kuah town and reached Penang jeti at about 5.30pm. We checked in to this hotel, everything was fine and up to our expectation. Room ia clean and comfortable, the only thing for me was the pillow iis too soft for me. We visited some places in Penang the next day. We walked a lot in Penang hill and we had a good foot massage in the shop opposite the hotel, it was really nice. We went to Gurney drive and enjoy all sorts of Penang food. We took a flight back to JB on the 3rd day. Graet journey we had and full of momories...

The breakfast is decent, it is a Asian breakfast (rice/noodles/bread/eggs/etc). Good landmark, easy to find anywhere in the city as the building is tall. Convenient near to amenities , several mini marts within walking distance. Bathroom is slippery due to tiled floor, be careful. Hallways have a musty smell, though the rooms are clean with a great view. Nightclub could be heard from the 17th floor, be prepared the nightclub closes around 1am. Swimming pool is clean and better than the photos of it online. Tv stops working during heavy rain, it is a common problem in penang. Wifi is great, fast and efficient to connect to. Staff are kind and helpful.

Lovely and worth for money”
Overall good, I booked for family rooms, pictures from agoda is totally different when you walk in into the room. I seriously think that Agoda should change all the hotels photos in the booking website with current hotel condition, travelers are not cheated by the hotels, for me it's all Agoda pictures. We cannot blame the hotel, Agoda should change. The cleanliness is good, I cannot say it's excellent, nice pool but no any pool towel, have to bring room towel, have no choice in breakfast, the hotel management should change the menu in daily basis. Provided salt instead of pepper for fried eggs, lucky i noticed and they changed it to pepper. Its seems the cook is new (foreigner), just smile for everything we ask. Excellent free parking for hotel guest, since it's a old building, parking are a bit narrow, careful when you drive a big cars,nice location, friendly reception, value for money for those who prefer budget stay with family, need for power point and a bit slow wifi.

Near to best Nasi Kandar in Penang ”
I like the hotel location because just about 100m away you can find the best nasi kandar in Penang. Not 1 but 2. They are Hameed iyah and Line Clear. Our family like the former for its delicious curries and selections. Located along Campbell street just ask around if you were lost. The buffet breakfast in hotel is excellent. For sightseeing board bus just about 5 mins from hotel and transfer to other buses at Komtar.The only snag here you have to go to the lobby to get free wifi services.

Value for Money”
This is my 4th or 5th time staying in this hotel and I think that i'm going to stick with Continental Hotel (provided the room rates will not increase drastically,:). Overall was a great stay, near to local stall just across the street, convenient store and located centre of the Penang town. Currently the Hotel in on-going with renovation, so it might get quite noisy once in awhile. Totally recommended!!

Nice comfortable stay”
Visited on a Thai visa run and have been to Penang before. The breakfast was a pretty good standard with a good variety. The hotel is in a good location, 5 mins by foot to Chulia Street and just under 15 mins to the area with shoppin malls and cinema. The swimming pool was lovely, with space to sunbathe, which was just what we wanted as we had done most of the touristy stuff on previous trips. The room was a good standard, clean and comfortable, with complimentary water, coffee and shampoo. The staff were friendly and helpful and gladly answered our questions, or passed us to other staff members if their Wnlish was not good enough. All in all a very pleasurable stay, will return if we were to need to do another visa run and fantastic value for money.

Spacious room with beautiful partial sea view.”
As a videographer, I love to record timelapse videos of sunrise or sunset. Penang Island has great sunrises and sunsets. Therefore, whenever I visit Penang, I make it a point to request for a room with sea view. Unfortunately, there was no room with sea view during this trip. Instead, I got a partial sea view. Nonetheless, it was still a great view and I got a splendid timelapse video of sunrise!

The hotel location was so strategic,tourist attraction just in walking distance and its located in middle town.hotel also provide car park so its so convenient.the room was so spacious,im staying in room for 2 with 2 single bed but the room was so huge with sea view.the facilities also in good conditions.breakfast was so good and delicious but i hope hotel can provided more variety menu for breakfast next time.im so satisfied with my stay and will come and stay here again if im going to penang next time.

Good for short stopover”
The hotel is strategically situated at Upper Penang road and walkable to nearby morning market and Cheong Fatt Tze mansion (behind the hotel). Free parking provided as well as simple continental breakfast. Room and facilities are kind of run down as they seems to be old, carpet in the room has slight smell, sofa at lobby has stains. Overall, it is worth the value for short stay over with basic ameneties

Great Spacious room!”
Hotel was great. It was clean. Room was spacious. You can actually run around in the room. that's how big it is. We got the connected rooms, hence, more space to run around. hahaa! Breakfast was average. When the buffet was near empty, there was no auto top ups. Until, there was a customer who raised his voice then the buffet was refilled. However, the only downside is that that there is no in room ironing board. The iron board is centralised at the top floor. You have to take the lift to the top and there's a small room with a few ironing boards. There was no fridge as well. Not too sure about other rooms. Other than that, the room was great. Strategically placed beside a row of bars for thos e drinkers! But the dates we went, the bars was like a zombieland. Perhaps we went on the wrong dates. :)

A good and nice hotel, centrally located. In the middle of Georgetown city . Surrounded with night life like soho and many pubs. Reasonable price. Easy access to local restaurant , shopping mall like 1st Avenue., Prangin mall and etc. also surrounding with heritage building at Chulia street, Campbell, Street, Kimberly Street and main road of Penang Road. The price is very reasonable and acceptable . Overall good and satisfy.
