Highly recommended! ”

I loved this place so much so that I kept extending my stay as I really didn't want to leave! Everything about Heritage Sixteen was amazing, the staff were so lovely and welcoming and really made an effort! The location is fantastic, close to all the shops, markets and bus stops. My room was lovely and the bathrooms were very well kept, breakfast was included and that was always nice with a good selection! Definitely staying here again when I re-visit Penang!

Surprised by this little place”

We had not planned to stay more then a 2 nights here but found ourselves miscalculating the visa process so we were stuck in Penang for 6 days. Actually, being stuck became a pleasure. The hotel is located right in the heart of Geaorgetown and it is easy to access the rest of the island from here by bus. The staff had answers for everything and made it extremely easy to book onward travel and entertainment and they had some great restaurant suggestions. The hotel was very clean and offered housekeeping services everyday. I am accustomed to breakfast being offered as a tea and some white toast but instead they had a buffet offering Asian and Western foods with tea and coffee and it was fantastic to have this included as well as a great way to start our day before we headed off on an adventure. Also, We found the family rooms spacious and very comfortable. We are a backpacking family and so have a budget to keep to for our longterm travel. We found this hotel definitely worth the money and really enjoyed our stay in Penang as there was plenty for a family to do!

Awesome place for Kids too! ”

We loved our stay at the Heritage 16! It was an excellent location, and the front staff (Alex and Jelly) were amazing at answering all our questions. They also loved playing with our daughter (1 year old) throughout the day. There is a plethora of living/common spaces to hang out in, which is great! There is also a ton of toys, and books, that adults and kids alike can play with. The only downside to this hotel is the NOISE! It was loud all. the. time. not always due to other residents, but it was right next to a club (pumping music until 2am every friday/saturday night, and 12midnight on sunday nights). The windows, just consider them as open windows, even with AC. (The AC works, and is cold!) ALso, free tea/coffee and biscuits all day! We met some great friends, and had some awesome food while staying here! I would recommend to anyone! (maybe bring a sound machine, which we travel with)

Lovely hostel in a great location in Georgetown, walking distance to everything! Our private room was small but comfy. Only downside was the noise overnight from outside the hostel... very noisy but it was Chinese New Year! Breakfast was great!!

My experience in Heritage 16”

The stayover is located about 10 minutes away by walk to jetty (where the bus and ferries parked). Receptionist. Named Jelly, very helpful. Stayover. Receptionist is only open until 11pm. Check in open at 2 but we manage to get our room at 12. Big dining area downstairs. Water and biscuits is free all day. They also provide free tea and coffee. All rooms located upstairs. The stairs quite steep and high. Chill out area downstairs and upstairs. They provide lot of games/puzzle to play. Mini library. Computers with accessible Internet. Room. The room that we were staying was 11. Our room located just beside the bathroom. Single bed below and queen bed upstairs. Multi option of light which is accessible in both ways. I would say the room is very clean and cozy. Working AC, very cold. Quite spacy for 3 of us. Toiletries. Shared bathroom and toilet. During our stay, the toilet didnt have toilet paper but they provide liquid shower in bathroom, toilet and sink area. Functioning water heater. Clean. Extra. So, something came up and we need to leave early. There's no available receptionist as it was 3 in the morning. We just leave the room key and notes at the reception desk to inform about our leaving. Then, they (Jelly) contacted me and transfered me my deposit back. Yayy 😁🙌🏻

Good bed”

Located near to a wet market. A bit noisy if your room facing the market. Otherwise, it’s quite quiet. Walking distance to the heritage walk.

Convenient but noisy”

Staff and location both great, couldn't hope for better on either count in George Town. However (and to be fair part of the issue may be because of the age of the building) our stay was far from restful because of the constant noise. We were staying 9 nights and after the first night we asked to move to another room as we had traffic noise and noisy neighbours (due to the thin partition between private rooms) and the staff were brilliant and moved us to another room which seemed better (no neighbours partitioned). Sadly whilst we lost the neighbours next door and traffic noise we gained the privilege of being by a door leading to the outside space, toilets and showers, smoking area, in a corridor with rooms that held guests who were oblivious to the fact that people might be trying to sleep at 1am or 6am, chatting loudly, slamming doors, running (on very creaky wooden floors). Then there was the fan /air con from the restaurant next door, a high pitched whine from around noon to 10pm

So nice, extended twice”

Extended our stay twice while here. Location is great, right next to food and walking distance to a lot of sites. Our specific room was a little noisy from facing the street below. The noise wasn't bad at night but started early in the morning so earplugs helped (seemed a lot better than other hostels on other streets though) The house is beautiful. High ceilings make everywhere feel very large and they do a good job maintaining the place. Could use a little work with bathroom cleanliness, but rooms were very clean and simple. Breakfast was a nice change from the usual toast, but make sure you don't wait until the last minute or most will be gone. Staff was really friendly and always there to assist.

I won't recommend this place If you are a person who love to spend ur time in room.This place is suitable for the people who like to party.The reason is it's located near to bars and clubs.there is also a liquor shop called Antarabangsa, 300m away from this hostel.This area also suitable for socialise and meet new people.especially foreigners.The hostel rooms , toilets and showers are clean.The hostel staff also very friendly and helpful.they also providing simple breakfast.my friends I really like this hostel and the place it located.I ll definitely come back to this place and recommend this place to my friends.Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Friendly services, good location”

Boss and his wife are very friendly, they will help you on any issue such as car rental, taxi calling, guide on travel etc. Nice band activity when we stay there, nice song. Breakfast prepared with Malaysia style, nasi lemak, roti canal, curry puff, kuih muih etc. Room and toilet a bit small, can't really have big motion in toilet. And some smell in toilet, but acceptable.

Room photos was very different from actual”

The photos shown must be during there opening 10yrs back. It is very run down but to be fair, it is clean. Our room only have a divan on floor and mattress so the whole height from floor was about 2ft (bed frame as in photo not there). Mattress was hard (we had backache after 2nites stay) and yellowish sheets. Pillows smells. Location was right in the middle of tourist attractions (FOOD). For those who are driving, there is a open paid parking at RM10 daily next to the hotel. Cant simply park on the road as the road in front of the hotel is a morning market.

Exceptional”

10-15min walk from Jetty, 3 mins walk from the happening Love Lane. Lots of food all around, directly next door is another famous restaurant (long queue). Rooms are basic, water refill provided. Not to mention friendly staffs.

Immediately loved the vibed upon arriving for my 1-night stay. Good spacious lobby area to work in, ambient chill music, and a cat roaming to give you a cat cafe feel. Beds are super comfortable, large and private with a blind. Several lighting options as well. Many showers and toilets, so you don't have to wait at all. the rooftop has a small patio garden to stretch or socialize. Overall good feel. Thanks for allowing me to work in the lobby days after my check-out.

Fine but Noisy”

The hostel is located on a lively street nearby the busier Chulia street. Location wise, it is a great spot. We had the twin bedroom facing the street and I must say that it is VERY noisy in the morning. I would assume that the rooms not facing the street are better. Also, they brand themselves as a cafe but it is not, at least not at the time of our stay.

Good location & facilities”

Was appointed Room#7, warm air conditioning, loud noise from outside traffic & shops. Changed to Room#17, window cannot close completely, quite dusty.

Very nice”

I stayed 2 nights and it was very nice. I had the whole clean dorm to myself and the staff was not only helpful but also warming. Breakfast was included and there was water at disposal at all time.

Excellent location!”

This hotel is right in the middle of the old city. You have everything as soon as you step-out the door. Restaurants, bars, small markets, etc. The included breakfast is somewhat disappointing. A few slices of toasted bread and a bit of scrambled eggs. The staff was inexistant and not helpful at all, although friendly when we managed to exchange with them.

noisy ”

The room was noisy as hell, so we couldn't sleep without earplugs, and with earplugs we could still hear the music from the bars along the street. The window didn't close in our room (n 15) and it was open up on top, so all the noise from the outside could get in... The walls are also paper thin. We asked to change the room because the bed was super short (like 180 cm) and be abuse of the noise, but the staff said all rooms were equally noisy. Besides that, it could have been a nice experience. The space was clean and there is a roof that you can go up on for a nice view, and also a garden, that is also noisy from the air-conditioning of the restaurant downstairs (which was really nice btw).
