I really love it! Never regret of choosing hard rock hotel penang as my hotel destination. I was thinking of staying at the other hotels in batu ferringhi, but tempted by the hard rock concept, and i can tell you it was not a dissapointment. A perfect stay. Nice beach with greenish blue water. A lot of reflexology centre nearby the hotel and last but not least, the food!! Nobody could stay in penang without having to try the local delicacies. The world famous assam laksa, the rojak pasembor, and as well as the nasi kandar. They are regarded as penang staple food, and i can say it is not a trouble getting those food because they are just a walking distance from the hotel! Hard Rock Hotel Penang, the best hotel in the world!

Lovely and a must-try hotel”

This hotel with it's rich history is synonymous all around the world therefore we were intrigued and would like to try it out to see what's all the fuss is about. Amidst all the fanfare that came along with the opening of the Hard Rock Hotel in Malaysia we know understand from our stay that it's true that Rock and Roll really has arrived on our shores (in Penang!). First, and a very good point, we had a free upgrade from our Deluxe Hillview room to the one facing the pool/beach area which was unexpected. The moment we reached it strike us that this hotel stands out from all the others (as there were many hotels along Batu Ferringhi) as one of the cooler ones if not the coolest. The ambiance from the get go was awesome as we were greeted by all the bellboys, porters and receptionist therefore waiting time to get the room was super quick. Upon entering the room, there caricatures and drawings of our favorite band The Beatles hung on the walls of the room as well as Elvis's picture in the toilet (a nice touch I might add). The room is really clean (as my g/f suffers from the sniffles and would get allergy if the carpets and dusty but she had none of it throughout out stay) as well as the toilet. Although, the only knockback is the location as it's far away form popular hotspots in Penang - Gurney Drive it's about 10km drive from the hotel, this hotel will do you good if you're looking for a new experience. One that is align with international standards that is. The food for breakfast (buffet) was excellent too and kept us filled for the full day ahead. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially families as the swimming pool is really cool as they incorporated sand from the beaches (and it's constantly 24/7 cleaned by a pitiful cleaner) with a lot of slides and what not situated around the pool for you to revel it.

2nd stay this year; we'll be back!”

My wife, son, & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hard Rock in Batu Ferringhi, Penang over the New Year holidays. It was our second stay this year and we came back for several reasons -- the massive, awesome swimming pools, beautiful beach location, waterslides for the kids, kids' club with fun activities, great buffet breakfast, good service, and good music! On check in we found that the hotel couldn't provide the kind of room we requested (failure of communication between Agoda and the Hard Rock) but they tried their best to accommodate us and we were satisfied with the room. Also, we had a small issue at the poolside pizza restaurant one day as our meals came out 45 minutes apart, but eventually, after a conversation with the manager, the situation was resolved (2nd pizza comped). The New Year's Eve party was awesome; the DJs from Thailand were spinning extremely funky tunes, and my son danced like a maniac for 3 hours straight. Come to think of it, so did we! We'll definitely be back.

Need I say more? It's HRH”

Now......before I begin, let's first remember....this is Hard Rock Hotel. The hotel that's meant to rock your senses. And with all the hype, this is why they charge prices that the normal, everyday crowd can't afford. It'd be great if HRH could have frequent best buys which cost below MYR400 per night.....so one reason for the 4 star on value for money instead of 5. Then there's the room comfort factor. For the prices you pay, you'd expect huge rooms, but no, you'd get only a standard size room. I guess HRH wants you to spend more time outdoors than in. So.....4 star again for room standard instead of 5. Also, the location is a bit on the far end of Batu Ferringhi. Apart from that, if you want great burgers, cool drinks, an awesome swimming pool, have a huge wad of cash and Ray Rozells rocking it up with his band, then this is the place to be :)

Joyfull holiday”

Most of our time in Penang were spent enjoying Hard Rock hotel pool and Batu Ferringhi beach which were located at the backyard of our room. Thanks to Hard Rock whom has upgraded our room to Lagoon View. My children were enjoying the kids club (for both young & teens). Penang atmosphere is very much like Bandung & Bali so it feels like home, with great food and night market. The hotel provide shuttle to go to the nearest hawker center and night market. For bikers, you could also rent a bike here.

Hard Rock 'vibe' lives on in Penang”

The Hard Rock Penang is located on a great stretch of beach – Batu Ferringhi. Though there are many other hotels in the area, I have to say that there are none like the Hard Rock. Its concept of a rock show cum musical odyssey is faithfully kept alive from the lobby, reception, restaurants through to the rooms themselves. Overall, we had a great time here and experienced something quite unique. I had been warned about the noise level in the hotel – it's definitely not your laid-back, restful kind of beach resort – yet the music coming from the nightly performances in the lobby faithfully stopped at around 10-ish, so it wasn't a problem. The atmosphere was great throughout and there was a real buzz about the place, from the types of guests the HR attracts to the staff and daily activities. Still, there are quiet corners dotting the hotel should you find yourself needing some time with a favourite book or just to indulge in some quiet contemplation. We only had a late-night desert at the hotel (this is, afterall, Penang!) but found it to be absolutely delicious. All in all, if you're looking for a different kind of beachside holiday experience, the Hard Rock is definitely worth a try.

Amazing stay”

We had a lovely one night stay at hard rock hotel penang! Upon a slightly early arrival(230pm. 3pm being the check in time), the front desk staff graciously informed us that they would try to rush our room for us. Within 10 minutes, they phoned me to say that our room was ready! And... We were upgraded to a sea view room(we booked a hill view room). Check in was a breeze and the staff were really efficient/friendly! The room was nice, clean, spacious with a view of the pool n sea beyond it. We loved the amazing pool- it stretched throughout the whole length of the hotel! And they even had an area that was filled with sand at the bottom. The atmosphere was really laid back, the music they played at the pool area was very good, not noisy at all. The free slurpies were a nice touch! This makes up for the murky sea! There were some small shops/convenience store/ cafes outside of the hotel.. Breakfast buffet was alright, although I did expect much more, this being hard rock. The sausages were of the cheaper kind.. We had dinner at long beach hawker centre which was about 2km from the hotel(we rented a car). All in all, it was a great stay in hard rock penang, and we cannot wait to return for a longer stay!

It was a pleasant stay with Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Although the location of the hotel is far from town which was quite a distance into Batu Ferringhi, but it's worth a stay there. Since we travel with young children, it's definitely a child friendly environment with attentive staff and has good life guard for the kids at the pool area. There's a Little Rocker built in the small room for the kids. Unfortunately, only 1 kid can enter the room with 1 parent instead of 2 kids at the same time. Our room was given at the end corner near the staircase exit, don't quite like it, but no complain. Room is spacious even after placing a playpen for my younger kid. Food wise, rated average because the pastry, waffles and pancakes are not warm. Overall, quite a good spread out with local Asia and western food varieties.

Excellent Stay - Home away from home”

We've been going back to Hard Rock Hotel for about 7 years now, almost every year at least once and its always an absolute delight. Our kids absolutely love the pool and slides and beach is great. Food at the pizzaria and breakfast at the Starz Cafe are yummy and the menu is able to cater for the fussiest eater ie my 7 year old son. What's good to point out this time is I've noticed their coffee has vastly improved from the previous breakfast offering and definitely much better than any other hotels we've stayed in. The cappuccino and latte although from a machine actually taste like proper brewed coffee. And despite the full house they experienced this weekend, the team at the Starz Diner were very equipped, efficient and attentive to each diner. The Rock Spa isn't to be missed if you're looking for a treat. Booked a malay traditional massage at their outdoor villa which was absolutely lovely and their ginger tea is delicious. They've also had a campaign called Rock-a-Duck for guests to purchase a limited edition HRH rubber duck for rm10 and proceeds to go to a local school. To know that the hotel actually cares enough to help schools through a fundraising makes our stay extra special. To sum up our entire stay, 7 years of going back to HRH Penang never feels old. Kids enjoy it and there's something for the parents too given the rock band that plays at the HRC every night. From the great hotel staff to the awesome bed and pillows, Hard Rock Hotel isn't just a hotel, but our home away from home.

The Coolest Poolside Pad Ever!!!”

The best hotel that I have stayed in Penang. Ever. This is my 5th trip to Penang and in my past trips, I have always stayed at Batu Ferringhi as I love the atmosphere there. Wanting to pamper myself a little more this time round, I decided to book the Lagoon Deluxe at Hard Rock Hotel after reading the rave reviews and the room certainly did not disappoint, in fact, exceeded my expectations! From the outside, the hotel looks plan, but once you step into the lobby, and greeted by the lovely LED lights that spelt out the name and then welcomed warmly by the staff, you know you have arrived at the right place. I am the kind of person who love rock music, so its definitely great to hear rock music instead of the usual plain clayderman/mariah carrie that we are so used to at other lesser hotels. The lagoon deluxe has a separate secure access via a door, so i felt so "exclusive". Once I entered the room, I rushed to the window and pulled open the blind and the direct veranda to the pool looks so inviting. The sunny weather during my stay helped alot too! Trust me! You have to book this room! Other than that, the breakfast was above average. Food was well stocked with the normal variety of asian, western breakfast (porridge, omelette, salad, bread spread etc) The easy access to the beach was another plus point. The location of the hotel meant that the beach was not over-crowded (which is a definite great plus point). There is a few shops right outside the hotel that allowed us to grab toiletries and snacks cheaply. And the bus-stop right outside the hotel also allowed us to take the public buses (RM$2 per pax) to the town in about 30-45min. Hard Rock Hotel Penang certainly did not disappoint! And the Lagoon Deluxe room was superb! I am looking forward to going back there soon!

Awesome Ambience and Impeccable Service Throughout”

We got checked in at 1.30p.m. and we were greeted with a big serving of a welcome drink that tasted great. We were then ushered to our lovely room with the Beatles as the theme. We then proceeded to make enquiries about leaving the hotel grounds and for things to do around Penang. We had more than enough advice. The car was booked quickly and we left in less than 10 min. Great range of watersports at affordable rates. Did parasailing and had a good time. The pool is good for lounging and the man-made beach gives us a reason to stay at the poolside and order food and drinks instead of venturing out to the seaside which is not as clean. Love the lagoon pool and the energetic vibe--there were activities for families and even other types of travellers to do (dance by the pool etc.) The band at the lobby packs a punch. Great performance, albeit for the more mature crowd as they play older songs. Great even though I did not know some songs. Hard Rock Cafe delivers a superb experience. The food and drinks are reasonably-priced and we had a great time listening to the band from 10.30pm to 1.30am! Popular and rock songs made our night unforgettable! I wanna stay at Hard Rock Penang again soon!

Awesome, fantastic , great atmosphere, superb ”

It's our 25th wedding anniversary. The moment we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by those awesome, friendly and helpful staffs. Although the check-in time was 3pm and we arrived at 12.00pm, they accepted our registration and made us feel the next 2hrs or so just like 15mins. We were taken to a private check-in desk and again the King's Club staff were just as awesome as others if not better., We had our lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe accompanied by our 4 grown-up children and again our presence there were greeted and served by great waiter & waitresses. The food was delicious and the portion were hefty. Then came the room... simply superb...,sea-facing balcony, elegant amenities, comfortable bed ... fit for a King. Thank you Hard Rock Hotel Penang for making our 25th wedding anniversary celebrations or us to remember the stay there forever. We would like to convey our thanks to all the staff of this hotel ... the managers, Kibg's Club staffs, the conciergie personals, the security guys, the gardeners and many more... TQVM guyssss and keep up the goid work. This will not be my last visit to your place ... It will always be our family choice of accomodation, dining & entertainment . Cheerssss...

Wonderful family holiday”

Our family had a wonderful stay in Hard Rock Hotel Penang. We loved the ambience of the hotel, it really is great for any types of traveller. We loved the swimming pool and the facilities of the swimming pool, with play area for the children, a little bar in the middle of the pool to relax and enjoy your drinks, and also the hotel private beach is very well maintained. Since we spent most mornings to afternoon outdoors, we stayed at the hotel on the evenings and order in-room services. We loved most of the foods we ordered and there are a lot of varieties of food to choose from. There is a mini market right across the hotel and in the evening, there arae lots of food stalls nearby the hotel. The hotel is quite far from the city centre (approx 45 mins to Georgetown), but we didint mind the travel. The scenery was very nice since the hotel is located on the hillside yet by the beach. It has been a wonderful family trip and we had a wonderful stay at Hard Rock Hotel

It was an awesome experience. ”

Was travelling with 5 families with kids. The kids enjoyed the pool facilities. The food was great. The room was great and clean. Love the Bose Bluetooth speaker, such great sound coming from that small Bluetooth speaker. Great to blast with your own tunes. For those planning to play the sea sports there is a counter just outside the hotel going to the beach. Remember to checktout the price. The are night market outside the hotel, the shop are kind of repetitive. All selling the same item. Be sure to haggle the price at those items are not original and usually the seller will jack up the price within them. Food was easy to locate as there are several food stall outside the hotel. Driving around penang Island is easy, jam are manageable. Most of the interesting place are in George Town. We used grab. Which is way cheaper than the taxis. The taxis tends to jack up the price. Taxi fare from airport to Hard Rock Hotel was 74 rm but if you took grab it will only cost 44rm.

Great hotel, superb service”

Excellent hotel with superb service. From the moment we checked in felt like a rock stars. Stayed in sea view suite on the 4th floor with nice water views. We had access to Kings Lounge for breakfast, afternoon refreshment and 6-7pm canapes.La carte menu for breakfast, more then enough food and mostly one more family or couple beside us having breakfast. Pool is fantastic both for adults and kids. It was Malaysian school holiday at the time of our stay but still plenty of space in and around of pool. Lil Rock is perfect for kids, like hotel's child care. Girls were so friendly, our daughter loved them. Hotel is a bit out of Batu Ferringhi centre (maybe 2km) but we didn't care coz not much to see there except the night market. If you like overcrowded, narrow street with people selling fake goods that's your best place on the island. Otherwise don't bother. There's a huge supermarket 15 min by taxi for grocery shopping. Overall very happy with hotel and would definitely come again. Next time will book Rock Star Suite. Btw, all hotel stuff provide top level service but there's a guy in Kings Lounge, Johan Jamal, who we need to mention for his exceptional service.

Entertainment hotel with an amazing pool!”

2nd time here and it did not disappoint! We came with a group of friends and had a blast in the lagoon rooms and the pool area. It is along the Batu Ferringhi strip which is the main tourist area but very far from town (where you can find some great restaurants / shopping and cafes). Hard Rock Hotel is very family friendly but also fun for young adult travellers. Staff are always pleasant and very chill. Breakfast is okay and the gym facility is quite decent. There was some construction along the beach front but aside from that, our rooms were very clean and you definitely get what you pay for here.

Wonderful stay”

My stay with my family in Hard Rock Penang is wonderful. The hotel is contemporary and new. The food served in 3 restaurants is good but a bit pricey compared with those restaurants at Batu Ferringhi. The night market, is within 10 mins walking distance. Quite good for the breakfast. However, the restaurant is a bit crowded. Will definitely recommended to my friends of this hotel.

Breakfast buffet is delightful, offering a broad array of European, Malay, Indian and Chinese dishes.

Great for families & weekend breaks”

This was my first visit to Batu Ferringhi after more than a decade, and I chose this hotel since simply for its location and amenities. We chose the room with the direct pool access, Deluxe Lagoon, which I think is really the best feature of the hotel! The pools are great, with water slides for the kids (and overgrown kids too! :) ) Floats were available for a fee. The hotel's Breakfast Buffet spread was quite good too. One should also not miss the Hard Rock Cafe and its souvenir outlet (there are three of them! - the Bungalow, the Cafe and one located near the lobby). The staff - all of them - were very, very polite and will always go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one.
